  3. At the end, the VA's bureaucracy and inefficiencies were just too much to handle for the terrorists. The terrorists chose to surrender and be taken away rather than continue to argue with the VA staff...

  4. Even if you took all the money from every billionaire...every last dollar from Bezos, Gates, and Musk, and ignoring the market inefficiencies in liquidating their stocks...you STILL wouldn't fund the government for a year. It's not a revenue problem. It's a spending problem.

  6. Not as important as getting a line number. I was advised by airline guys when I was leaving AD to get a line number ASAP and the 20 years would figure itself out. I thought I was smarter than them and waited until I was over 14 years TAFMs to hit submit on my apps. Turns out I should have listened. With the COVID stuff and exempt orders, I could be on mil leave for 8 years straight, so I could have gotten out right at 12, hired on terminal, and still hit my 20. Be ready to interview with your availability date as the earliest realistic you could show for training on terminal leave.

  7. The benefit of doing a universal sales tax is not having to do a progressive tax. Luxury to you is necessity to others and Vice versa. Plus most luxury things are more expensive yielding a higher tax take in the first place. The subjective nature of where to draw the line if it becomes a non flat tax then becomes the problem and doesn’t end up fixing anything.

  8. I think the EU still has income taxes.. I’m on board with a sales tax.. as long as it’s the only tax. I’d like to see some way to recover the tax loss from my Roth accounts.. but I’ll and I’m sure most others will live. It would also be nice to make it a progressive tax as well.. luxury goods taxed higher than necessities.. I’m sure there’s plenty of lobbying to be done there to figure that out

  9. Got a diversity and inclusion survey in my inbox today. Can't wait to tell the Air Force all about how difficult and unfair it is for women and minorities out there.. Oh wait, it seems I can't submit the survey because our computer networks are absolute hot garbage and it keeps crashing. #priorities

  11. I like this video (and channel) for some pretty decent explanations on economic stuff. Might not agree with all of it, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t lots of good points/it isn’t well thought out. Is Hyperinflation Coming? As for whether the gubmit will be able to pay your pension, or it’s bills, is mainly touched on by the video and posters above: we print a valuable, world-useful, and respected currency, so as long as those things keep happening, we can kinda print whatever we want. Also helps that, while our numbers seem crazy, the whole world is doing the same thing (well, at least in relation to Covid and the Great Recession) trying to prime their economic pumps. Weimar Republic was bad because there were other stable(ish) investments to park your money like the US and UK in the 20’s. Currently, there’s not really any other major economy that’s “just fine.” Everyone sucks, so everyone’s printing, so there’s not a huge cause for alarm. So what, though? They also have more money AFTER taxes than the bottom 90% due to wealth concentration. Using just a sheer numeric value is disingenuous because, yes, they may be paying a greater NUMBER, tax-wise, but I’m certain, dollars to donuts, they’re paying a much smaller % OF THEIR INCOME in taxes than those in the bottom 90% due to multitudes of tax loopholes and dodges; especially when you start getting closer to that top 1%.

  12. The people north of 7 figures are already paying all the taxes. The top 1% are paying more than the bottom 90%. https://taxfoundation.org/summary-of-the-latest-federal-income-tax-data-2020-update/#:~:text=The top 1 percent paid,50 percent (4.0 percent).

  13. Legacy is 2.5% per year, so 20 years x 2.5% = 50% (average of high 3 years) BRS (Blended Retirement System) lowers to 2.0% per year, so 20 years x 2.0% = 40% (average of high 3 years) Legacy O-5 HYT (28 years) gets 70%. BRS O-5 HYT (28 years) gets 56%.

  14. VA hospitals were getting marginally efficient at care, so the terrorists had to knock it back down to deplorable.

  16. Just got back from MFS yesterday, about as smooth a process as I could have hoped for. Can confirm all of the previous reports about the techs being great, they have their work down to a science. ONLY tricky part was finding the office to begin with if you're coming from lodging on the shuttle. Attached pic should help you avoid the wandering I did around the USAFSAM building. The rooms you are looking for are W103 (breakroom) and W105 (actual MFS cube-farm). We (group of 5 off of the AD board) started up about 0745 and were headed back to lodging by 1430. Started the day with weight, standing and sitting height, butt to knees etc which took about 2min per person. After a short spell in the break room, over to optometry for color vision and a couple eye scans. No puffs, no charts or depth perception, about 5 min per person. Another bit cooling our heels in the break room followed while we waited for the psych testing lady to get free. She brought us to the computer lab where we did four tests that took 30-45 mins a piece with a 5ish min break in between, and that was that. Had one guy in the group that had to hang back for eye dilation because of a prior issue, the rest of us were cleared off after a quick check to make sure there weren't any alibis. They told us we can expect our form 600 to be available Monday, I'll update this post with how that goes if anything is particularly difficult about that. It was really nice that we had the 'good to go' before we left for the day, the staff were happy to answer any/all questions we had about the whole process.

  17. Couple things that may help the group: 1. MyPers RNLTD change request page should show you your RNLTD 2. If step one works, reach out to your CSS and ask them if they will look for an assignment in milPDS 4 Jan 22 RNLTD for Columbus. CSD is 19 Feb 22. and IFT 14 Sep 21. Shoot me a message if you have the same dates!

  19. Still radio silence for me. Mr Hornburg said most of the assignments got loaded last week and it could take a few weeks for them to be processed. That is way later than I expected to hear to be honest, now I’m really curious what mine will be.

  20. You mean Martin Luther King’s actual dream? It honestly an embarrassment to his legacy where we are as a country right now with this whole social justice quest.

  21. A very holier than thou view you have there. I don’t know this guy personally, but you have quite the bias. I’m not saying he did no wrong, but you act like this is some easy black and white situation. There’s a lot of blame all around for him, the girl, and OSI/the military judicial system. 1. That’s not how possession charges work in the civilian world, and he’s not guilty until proven innocent in the a real court. A psycho bringing shit into your house (especially if you don’t know) does not make you responsible for said psycho. 2. You must’ve never had significant family issues go on, because most people will choose to cling to a turbulent family situation over the military who is also ing you every day (in a bad way) I’ve chosen relationship situations that weren’t necessarily the best course of action over the military plenty of times, and I wouldn’t expect others to act differently with the blinders people have for loved ones. 3. You bring up weapons employment. Have you ever been directly responsible for someone’s death? Ever listened to guys in a TIC begging for help get killed? I don’t know what he was going through, but I haven’t met many people that aren’t heavily impacted by death. They may cover it up with the joking around, but when you have a real heart to heart with the bros it’s acknowledged. I think you would be surprised at the coping mechanisms many people in the military who have those experiences develop. They have no other help that won’t destroy their lives as they know it in their eyes. I couldn’t imagine sitting in a box for 8 hours, killing some people, watching Americans you can’t help die, and then just going home to my family that night like it’s nothing. Especially when there’s family issues at home. The Air Force pretends that they are there for you, but will gladly take your job if you actually seek mental health help for combat experiences. We have plenty of example of it. And there’s plenty of data acknowledging how crippling it can be for veterans. The useless morons in OSI who entrap and crave convicting anyone for anything have plenty of blame in his death. They have no real job, and far too much power. They try to coerce false accusations and entrap people as much as possible. They even sit around at Nellis trying to get people to talk about classified info so they can get you for they. If they were real cops that found her drugs in his house, she would’ve been charged with it, not him for owning the house.

  22. Maybe we should assume they're innocent until there is enough evidence to prove they're guilty? You know, do our due diligence to gather all the facts before making decisions?
