  1. UPT is undermanned. CAF is undermanned, at least with experience. I hear ROK Viper squadrons have mostly wingmen; IPs and FLs fly daily. FTUs are undermanned, people are bailing and we’re making IPs out of people we shouldn’t - small note, the 500hr requirement to enter the Viper IPUG just got changed to 400hrs in the new Vol1. Turns out we don’t have an “experience” problem if we simply redefine what it is to be experienced. I’m 100% in concurrence that we need to nuke any and all PowerPoint/coffee-ranger taskings. I worked a pounder gig and did all the paperwork to turn it into a non-rated position with my CC’s approval - only for him to get cold feet at the end, IMHO because he was staring down a CDI and didn’t want to rock the boat. I was frustrated beyond belief. That being said, deploying is what we do as military peeps. Every person on a BS profile, protected for IDE/SDE/exec, golden boy or in an AETC safe space essentially ups the OPSTEMPO for the bros not in such a position. Think about that for a sec. Your “little corner” of the AF that’s protected from deployments? GMAFB, we’ve all had our instances of the best laid plans getting turned upside down. It’s the nature of AD - we deploy. Want real protection/stability? Punch and join the AFRES or ANG.

  2. I’m deployed right now. Layover in Munich. 😂 I hope all of you escape. AA and UAL each hiring 1,000 between now and the end of 2020. DAL claims they are gonna hire 1,200 between now and the end of 2020. FedEx, SWA, Alaska, who knows? 🍺🍺🍺

  3. It doesn’t change the calculus. The calculus, for reference: all non-flying deployments filled by rated personnel that could be filled by a non-rated person is a BS deployment.

  4. All these UPT IPs will be great at teaching C-172 and C-208s in Afghanistan again.

  5. Can't wait for the lawyers and the pussified public to start screaming "we must outlaw these old, outdated war machines!". You know it's coming.

  6. You can travel almost anywhere, for business or pleasure, without any effect on your clearances ..., as long as you let the appropriate clearance folks know in advance. Sometimes WELL in advance.

  8. This sucks on every level. If it can can happen to the most experienced B-17 pilot in the country, it can happen to you (or me). Stay safe out there fellas.

  10. Primary radar? Nah, I was just counting on the enemy complying with the ADS-B mandate when they attack since their acquisition process is quicker.

  11. Downton Abbey - took my wife because chicks dig tea parties, chinless wonders, and snobby society b1tches who change clothes 6-7 times a day. Basic premise - King of England coming to visit, so everybody panic, clean everything, speak dramatically of the importance of such a visit, etc. Think of any four-star visit to your base and the wing commander goes into "paint this rock, hide that airman!" mode and you've got it. Pretty harmless waste of 2+ hours except for the obligatory, but completely unnecessary to the story, gay equality scene. In return, I'll gain a date to Ford v Ferrari later this fall and Top Gun 2 whenever it is released.

  13. If you get picked up by a fighter squadron, then yea, you'll fly T-38's 😉 In all seriousness, I don't think they have an Reserve IP Squadron...?
