  6. .380s are fun to shoot and back before the ammo drought, reasonably cheap. Now it's one of the more expensive pistol rounds around. If you can find it. I have three .380s. Walther/S&W PPK/S - James Bond gun (actually he used a PPK in .32). Minimal recoil due to steel mass. Looks cool. Jam-o-matic Walther PK380 - light, reliable, easiest semi-auto to rack I've ever used (could be important to those with small hands or arthritis or the like). Has been reliable. Have used it for a basement area 'ready' gun before. Kinda cheap looking to me. Browning BDA - nearly the same as the Beretta Cheetah/84. Looks great. Big, clunky solid gun, no recoil. Believe the Dutch (?) used them as a police sidearm for a long time. In the day, .380s were great for concealed carry due to size. Now, certainly 9mms are as small. Heck, my XDs in .45 is nearly identical in size to the PPK/S. .45 acp in a palm-size CCW? Yes, please!

  7. 3 feet away is a safe distance or is that considered danger close? What exactly is the seat pitch spacing on an aircraft front to back and side to side? Do I need the Captains initials before I sneeze and send droplets danger close? We can play Google fact badminton all day long. When presented with a lot of unknowns and changing facts, the logical course of action is to take the safest course of action. If I recall, even the medical profession (that kills 100,000+ per year through accidents) says, First, do no harm.

  9. Karl, I hear you. I don't see the exodus in my world yet, but I know it is out there and it will hurt. People are tired and they are sick of the bullshit. The culture of compliance, risk aversion (Korea alcohol ban), infatuation with glorifying support missions and ridiculous move towards complete centralized control are crushing us. There is no end to the deployments, ops tempo or chickenshit priorities, and the airlines are hiring and our skills are in high demand in many industries. Retention is a problem we need to get on now, and listening to those who are disgusted and separating is important. Now, I'm deployed again and life is good. Mission focus, no bullshit, killing the enemy, protecting the friendlies and the innocent. It is why I joined. Protecting what makes our AF great is why I'll continue to serve until asked to leave. If I knew how to put one of those beer mugs at the end I would do that here ___.

  10. Hi, I plan to major in aviation because it is a really easy degree where I know I would be able to get a high gpa with. I plan to enlist in the Air National Guard throughout college and major in aviation with a high gpa. Also, i plan to learn spanish and have my instrument rating and private pilot license by time I graduate college. Would an ANG fighter unit choose someone who majored in aerospace engineering and has the same gpa as mine? Would they rather choose another person with a different degree? Is there certain college degrees they desire which can be a plus on your application? Would you reccomend me getting a degree in aviation or something else a fighter wing would look for? I dream to fly fighters in the Air National Guard such as the F35A with the Vermont ANG. What should I do? Also,I heard that an aviation degree is worthless and gives you no backup plan. I would get a low GPA in aerospace engineering because it is extremely tough, and I will never be selected into a guard fighter unit. I do know my gpa would be high with a degree in aviation. I am willing to risk it because I really dream to fly the f35a. Also, what other things can make an applicant to a guard fighter wing look competitive? I appreciate anyone who has gone through this to help. Thanks!
