  1. Let's see what we get when we cross a broken justice system with a deranged psycho. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/miacathell/2024/04/19/transgender-vampire-convicted-n2637815
  2. I flew part of the a Patriot battalion back from the middle east on a CRAF mission. They were the ones that shot down a Tornado and a Hornet. Had a long conversation with battalion exec about that stupidity. Target ID needed improvement.
  3. During my sentence...I mean tour... As an ALO with an armor battalion, I was having a conversation with one off the air defense guys and he proudly stated that the AD folks could visually ID 67% of all aircraft. I guess the other 33% are screwed.
  4. Okay, I've been there, done that although it was a while ago in 1994. Got hosed by what passed for DEI back in the day but that's another story. So, got hosed as the A-10 Division Chief of Stan/Eval for the Wing and my AF career is pretty much over. Not much I can do to fix that. "Should I stay or should I go now..." was an appropriate song lyric and I chose to go. However, I wasn't prepared to go with no airline apps but airlines weren't hiring, no Guard/Reserve contacts, nothing. So, I had to get those done before I cut the income lifeline and I ended up sticking around for about a year and a half before I separated from Active Duty and left with a $52K separation bonus. Got a GS-13 job as an IP at Barksdale but I was looking at the job as a place holder until I could get hired at an airline. I did get promoted to Major. After 2 years, I got hired by American so I switched to the traditional Reservist role. Somewhere in there I hung up the G-suit and got a staff job at 10AF. Got promoted to Lt. Col. I retired with 28 years total service although I wanted to retire earlier but 9/11, a faux bankruptcy, age 65 retirement, and a real bankruptcy made me not want to give up that lifeline until I had to. I'm currently paying back the $52K. As much as getting passed over was a huge insult, I think I'm better off for it. I wasn't worried about the next promotion, I wasn't worried about the next school, and I wasn't worried about the next job. I flew T-38s and A-10s for 21 years. I got into a more lucrative career and approaching my airline retirement, I have financial stability I'd never thought I'd see. That $52K that I'm paying back was basically a 30 year interest free loan for a house now approaching $1M in value. The military retirement also includes medical which helps. So, you have skills that are marketable and there are companies out there that value them. Even after getting hosed for promotion, I did do Air War College, I did an Electronic Warfare School and a few other odds and ends. Making yourself more valuable is always a good idea and don't burn bridges that you might need to cross back over. Your life isn't over but it is going down a different path than planned. Best of luck to you!
  5. It's been a while since I taught in the mighty Talon and while I agree the rudder is there for a purpose, operated incorrectly can have spectacular results. For instance, I'm working the RSU on the center runway at Columbus when a formation landing comes in. Approaching the flare, the Student wingman is drifting into lead and applies rudder. This results in a near 90 degree roll as I transmit with enthusiasm "Go around burner.". The IP was way ahead of me, got the jet upright as it does a three point bounce and go. I found them in the squadron later. The IP acted unfazed but the student was still white as a sheet after his "significant emotional event." There is a time, place, and technique for everything. Choose wisely.
  6. Was long as you are moving and not blocking the flow, I don't think they care.
  7. I'm trying to figure out how a woman in Minnesota(?) was convicted of manslaughter because she didn't understand the mental problems of her son but was not a psychologist, but a woman can be put on the the SCOTUS that can't define a woman because she is not a biologist but that is okay.
  8. I've flown the 787 for 5 years. That switch cover is spring loaded closed and the rocker switch is recessed under it so the switch would be difficult to lean on even without the cover. The seat doesn't move that quickly so having a tray on your lap and not getting the tray out of the way before it contacts the yoke seems fishy, also. It takes 80lbs of force on the yoke to disconnect the autopilot so you really got to push hard. A more plausible scenario involves a crew swap. Someone getting into or out of the seat tripped, stumbled, etc. and fell into or grabbed the yoke. That's my guess anyway.
  9. A Herkski. Looks like a Herk but powered by vodka.
  10. The truth is whatever the Ministry of Truth, aka the media, says it is.
  11. It's got to be doable. I've done flybys at Texas Motor Speedway which sits very close to the final approach course of Runway 13R at DFW. We had to fly a dogleg run-in to avoid it. I didn't do the coordination so not sure how that happens. I'd call DFW TRACON and see if they've got info. The Reserve guys at the 301st FW at Fort Worth JRB might have input for you. 12. Way back when, 1972-ish, , my dad was stationed in England and one of his fellow Chiefs was a former B-17 radio operator in WW2. I was 9 or 10 and he was talking about the "doing the pull up" to enter the airplane and said it was complete BS. Nobody did it. Side story: Local English lovers of birds had given the B-17 radio operators messenger pigeons. Not sure how often they used them, why they used them, etc. but they occasionally used them. The instructions were to put the message on the bird, put the bird into a paper bag cut down on one side, go to the waist gunner window, and throw the bag with the bird DOWN where the bag would open, the bird would fly out and then fly home. One day, he wonders what happens if you throw the bag with the bird UP which he does and the bag with the bird splatters on the rudder. He didn't have the heart to tell the poor guy he killed his bird. Anyway, that was one story he relayed to me.
  13. For youse guys that love history and haven't watched or listened to the "What We Saw" documentaries, you are missing some good stuff.
  14. Genocide, man , woman, peaceful demonstration, border control....... Yep, definitions keep changing. I'm wondering if I need to start using Google Translate for what I thought was the English language. Maybe English 10 years ago to current English.
  15. I gave up my FFDO weapon since I fly internationally and i truly miss the ease of pulling out the badge and breezing through security. I'm still the same person with the same background check, etc. but now I'm back to the random BS. I don't bother with KCM and just do the crew approved TSA Pre-check line. 50% exceeds any definition I assign to the term "random."
