  1. Thanks. I guess my question is why cant you still do all your training in the airplane? I saw where RNAV approaches are restricted to Day/VMC but that doesn't mean you cant do them? If there's a weather day then yes, accomplish in the sim later?
  2. Speaking of the T-6 and its GPS issues. Are T-6 bases canceling sorties now because this GPS is hard broke? Is any training actually being lost now?
  3. No, the F-35 HMD has NOT BEEN endorsed as a primary flight reference (PFR) for IFR flight. AFFSA looked at it years ago but efforts to endorse it stopped for unknown reasons and no further efforts to endorse it have been made.
  4. The F-22 ship has sailed.
  5. I did. AFPC replied with I had to accept the ADSC for Advanced Fly Training but that it would only go out to my UPT ADSC date. Meaning they revised the form that I signed to show the correct date.
  6. Unlike the B-2 line where they destroyed the equipment, the manufacturing equipment for the F-22 was maintained in "storage". There is actually a "How to build a Raptor in 69,000,000 easy steps" manual tucked away somewhere. LM took detailed notes on each step in the manufacturing process with the specific intent of having the know-how later in case they ever did re-open the line. It was an interesting tour to hear them talk about how meticulously detailed they were being with each step...to include taking pictures. Although I agree that actually opening the line back up is not likely and would be exceptionally expensive.
  7. Yes. All concurred. All said and done I will get 9 months off. Again though, I already had a DOS and was out the door so I'm probably not the reference to use. AFSC 11F
  8. Well, well....got approved. Didn't take as long as I thought...however....I've already got a DOS due to the fact that I 7-day opt'ed out of an assignment. So really wasn't like it was going to be denied or anything. Anyhoo...good luck all!
  9. Where can you look to see where it is at in the process? I only see "referred to BPO" or something like that.
  10. IFF is in-house upgrade and you buy a 24 Month ADSC. PIT is a 36 month ADSC upon graduation. Its all in the AFI buried away so you need to hire a lawyer to figure it out.
  11. In the end, I didn't have to convince anyone. The interesting part of this event for me was this was my call. The OG/CC, WG/CC, Functional, had no say in this process. This went from my Sq/CC direct to AFPC and some GS-07 set my DOS as 1 day after my UPT ADSC. A few weeks later, my assignment was cancelled. AFI 36-2110 Table 2.9 Rule 8 - O's may select a DOS not later than the date they complete there longest ADSC...the actual DOS approved will be based on needs of the AF. AFI 36-2110 Para 2.30.2.2.1 Which says O's with indefinite DOS selected for PCS...an ADSC incurring event...who have an ADSC greater than which they would incur for the event which selected are not eligible to execute a 7-day option. Meaning I was eligible! .
  12. I just 7-day opted an assignment with 19 months remaining on my UPT ADSC. I didn't want to incur the CONUS PCS ADSC of 24 months. My DOS was set the day after my UPT ADSC expires! Everyone from the Group/CC on down, to include the assignments guy at AFPC was adamant I couldn't 7-day opt....but I did! Assignment cancelled and told to remain in place to finish out my ADSC.
  13. Public release for 05 Majors board -- 10 Feb 15
  14. So just the intent to hire letter? No position number or completed 1288?
  15. Call the AIS main number. Testing is free and available during duty hours.
