YoungnDumb 94 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 Looks like the "everyone gets a fighter" thing is winding down...maybe the AF realized you can't just throw bodies at the pipeline and expect it to work smoothly?

Ulysses 3 Report post Posted September 17, 2017 (edited) Word on the street is that classes who just track selected (so within the last six weeks or so, give or take) are being told that they can expect the bomber drops from T-1s that were talked about so extensively a few months ago. Maybe that's just the rumor mill, or maybe it's taken this long to get the ball rolling on that idea. As for the reduced fighter drops, at least at CBM a lot of that lately is due to T-38 guys washing into the next class. That's been happening somewhat erratically as I understand it, so some classes' 38 drops look smaller since they might've lost some of their own guys but didn't gain any from the previous class. Reference my earlier post about T-1's and bombers. It's been a rumor since I was a student, hell we even had an O-5 type say it was happening a year ago. Fair enough on CBM bubbas, but if you look at Vance as well instead of 9 fighters its more like 4 or so with others going to bombers or other places.
BFM this 444 Report post Posted September 17, 2017 (edited) BL: if you hear a rumor that bombers are going to start dropping to Tones, believe it when you see it. If you hear a rumor that RPAs are going to start dropping again. Be afraid. Be very afraid. It will be another 3-5 years before that happens again. RPA pipeline is at full capacity, and "numbers" are actually looking better. Every Alpha tour bro in my unit has a projected returned manned date in the next year-year n half. However, the Air Force is projecting a crazy high rate (50% +) of the initial couple groups of the 18x ers to stay in as their 6 commitment comes up, unfortuly the rates are probably going to be closer to 5-10% So we will be right to square one when all the 18x instructors/evaluators bail in late 2018/2019

Do national guard get pushed through faster? I ask because this was the case at Army IERW. You would have guys waiting for months for their advanced course while the guard guys were turned around in a couple weeks.

Tunes3 5 Report post Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) Guard, Reserves and Internationals purchase a slot for their folks in each training course. These spots are pre-programmed by AETC so their people make it through the pipeline with minimal downtime between courses. This saves a lot of $ with man-days, per diem and moving costs while providing the units with a predictable flow of personnel.
