IFT Pipeline

Recommended Posts

In the pilot selection forum for the 2018 rated board, @Hopeful_guy wrote, "Curious what effect the IFT issues/backup will have on selection this year.  Anyone know if this is as huge of an issue as they make it seem?" I thought it was a good question and would get more traction over here. What are folks impressions on the training pipeline backlog and how many slots will be available for the upcoming rated board scheduled for January?

In the past four years they have selected 51, 46, 14, 60 pilots from an unknown number of applicants. Out of curiosity and only questionably relevant, I googled "usafa class of 201X statistics" to find a fact page for each of the last four classes and how many went to pilot training, those numbers are (2014-2017) 445, 360, 345, 386.
