AFRC NOV UFT BOARD

Recommended Posts

Cool. Does anyone know if you have to have a FC1 complete to get accepted on this board?

my package is in a bit of a time crunch

Thanks!

Just spoke with my ISR on this issue. ISR said FC1 must be complete before board. Can anyone else validate?

I'm in a time crunch too. I am sponsored. Hopefully meeting board in Nov. Active duty, Palace Chase route. Good luck to all!

So change of plans... Looks like I will be applying to this upcoming board as sponsored. Woohoo! I was told by the chief pilot at my hiring unit that you did NOT have to have you physical done before the board meets, just paper work started for it. Havnt been able to get ahold of my recruiter yet but can anyone else confirm or deny this? Also CeeDub, I'm fairly positive it was 100% selection rate on the last AFRC board.

Your unit is correct regarding your physical. As long as you are sponsored and have your application done, you can apply to the board in november. I would suggest getting in touch with your recruiter ASAP. Lots of paperwork needs to be done and packages are due on October 24th.

Thank you for the info on the last board. I hope it's like that in November!

Got the definite word today, my package is submitted to the AFRC board. My physical is pending but afrc still accepted it. They said we just have to send it when it gets certified.

I'm assuming they won't give candidates upt dates until there is a certified FC1 in the system.

I am sponsored btw too not sure if that mattered.

Best of luck to all !

Yup, i heard the same thing... Postponed until January. I heard the news from my hiring unit but still havn't been able to get ahold of my recruiter to confirm with him. Disappointing but hey, whats another 2 months in the grand scheme of things?

My Recruiter said the same thing. Board postponed until January.

Warning internet rumor coming: Recruiter said only ~12 applicants for November board and HQ wasn't pumped because AFRC gets 100+ UPT slots/year. They would have to have an in unrealistically huge summer board to make up the difference.

If it's true, I would think a lot more units advertise hiring. If it's not true, add this post to the millions with internet BS.

Any insight out there from someone who actually knows what their talking about?

Either way, I'm stoked for a potential opportunity, just going to have to be patient. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I've heard similar information. So doing quick pilot math: they would need/want 50 or so applicants for the January Board?

I can't imagine they would postpone or cancel the board all together, with applicants fighting Father Time age waivers and such. I'm guessing even if they don't get 50 they will still hold it and hope for a larger board in the Sunmer.

Thoughts?

FWIW, last year's November board was postponed until June of this year. No reasons were given for the delay. Hopefully it won't happen this time, but plan accordingly.

I was an applicant who needed a "Father Time age waiver"...it all worked out. The CSAF has been signing off on those over the past year, for all components. The AF must need pilots!

Thanks for the info! Not the most encouraging of news lol. But I'm glad it worked out. question: was the board postponed to January at first, or just right to June?

Last year also had the budget/Govn't Shutdown Debacle I wonder if that contributed.

Thanks again!

Ya true. it sucks. Wonder why it was postponed? Maybe waiting for other units to get applications in to make it a worth while board. Lemme know what your recruiter says!

So finally talked to my recruiter yesterday. He pretty much confirmed what Go Falcons said in that they postponed due to not enough applicants. My recruiter's numbers were only 16 applicants and 60 UPT slots for November's board. He said that AFRC had $80 million worth of UPT slots burning a hole in their pocket for Nov. He also mentioned that they (Officer Accessions Recruiters) are being pushed hard to have everyone who is interested in UPT, apply. FWIW, the good news is my recruiter encouraged me that we should have no problem getting selected as obviously they are in need of pilots. I sure as hell hope they don't postpone it again to June...

so ill try to find the article but it was basically about force structure and how downsizing active duty while increasing ARCs will allow the air force to weather financial storms better. What i saw was that they viewed the ARC as stepping up its role, with the benefit of mobilizations and then be able to stand down the units in times of financial constraint almost like how the airlines furlough pilots...

seems like right now is a good time to go ARC

Great info! Now the big question is will the units, while under financial constraint, interview and hire applicants before January.

The other big question is what is the magic number for AFRC to hold the board or push it back again? definitely unneeded stress around the holidays lol

if it's the same fiscal year pot of money why not hold a smaller board and let us bubbas get crackin! Just my two cents

because thats how things work man... get used to it because when you do get picked up you are looking at potentially a year before you even go to UPT

Not true. I'm a rated Nav and sort of know the game. They have Fiscal year 15 slots. the only waiting is for Ots/IFS dates. for a rated officer just waiting for UPT dates, shouldn't be long at all after they hold a board.

But Yes, I'd def could be many months waiting for initial Ots dates because the reserves want to keep the casual time as low as possible(I.e. They want to line up OTS-IFS-UPT-SERE-little rock (etc) with no downtime
