discus
In very nonspecific terms, after Luttrell's team ran into difficulties, Rich and his crew flew DAY and night sorties when no other AFSOC transport would dropping bundles of radio batteries/water/food at low level in the valleys around the survivor. They threw out leaflets soliciting help and promising rewards for his team's safe return. When the village elder sent for help, the villager was carrying one of the leaflets. You can read about the difficulties Luttrell's team ran into and get s flavor for the terrain/threat Rich and his crew contended with by reading Luttrell's book; but you won 't see any mention of the flights because Luttrell couldn't have that awareness given what was going on around him. LG Wurster pinned on the DFC in a quiet ceremony at Richard's unit. Still can't believe Rich is gone. Wow. BAMF.

M2
There probably wasn't enough room at the bottom for all the accolades he deserved, such as great friend to so many, a mentor to all met, a shining example of a leader in today's Air Force and obviously founder of BaseOps. I hope whoever took that photo paid proper respects to him.
