Anybody know anyone at AETC (the training command that approves FC1s)? Or how your unit finds out that your FC1 gets stamped approved? - If I can help it I would rather not wait an extra 2 months like @Flip6 did, to find out his was approved. I had waited 3 weeks to ask the Wright/Patt crew for any kind of update and they said it had just been sent to AETC the day before I called.

I don't know anyone at AETC. I just kept bugging the coordinator that I worked with at Wright/Patt about every 2-3 weeks. I'm not sure where it was sitting for the ~2 months between when it was approved and when I got it, but they did say that if you have been gained by your unit, they will get notified. Since I'm still in the Army, that didn't happen.

Ok thanks @Flip6, I'll be doing the same unless someone has a contact at AETC.

But, I'm also an Army transfer type. Going from Army Guard to Air Guard. So that's why I am worried it'll just sit around forever since my hiring unit's recruiting office is telling me I can't transfer till my FC1 is approved and the state medical officer reviews and approves it... Then they'll submit the officer inter-service transfer packet to NGB.

Congrats! great to see another rotor head get through the gauntlet! I start this fall. If you are headed to Columbus, let's get together for a beer.

Congrats to you too! I'll let you know when I find out. I'm just hoping I won't have to become a bartender waiting for a class.

Will edit. Hoping for an update real soon.

Maybe you got hired on 8 FEB “2019”, FC1 submitted on 7 MAR “2019”, and pending notification as of now?

Marines don’t usually correct Airmen on stuff like this but I just had to do it lol.

Doh - Good one Marine! I have the same mindset. Since it’s all in good fun, I don’t believe he’s an Airmen just yet. You’ve corrected a civilian is my guess.

Enjoy the ARC (Air Reserve Component) Jetpower, while a few things will frustrate you I truly believe you will enjoy the change. We had a few Marines come over to the dARC side and they settled in quite well. I truly enjoyed our multi-service comrades.

Thick Rhino skin is a good quality to have as we jab each other and actually creates that intestinal fortitude, granted things have softened a bit.

Timelines have decreased quite a bit from decades ago, but the end of fiscal year (Oct-Sept DoD budget) last minute inputs is where you can make your money. If your UPT drop/start is Oct or well beyond and you want to charge ahead try this: Let your units know you are immediately available and I mean immediate! (Not a 2 week thing, I mean you’re notified Friday night - show up Monday deal or even quicker) Hopefully your unit has Good connections with Guard Bureau/ANGRC or Reserve Command and can slip you in if/when there will be a no-show due to unforeseen circumstances. It happens! Godspeed to everyone.

Thanks for catching me, and yes I'm just a lowly civilian lol. Updated my post with the date I just received. Currently reaching out to my recruiter to see if there's any way to get in sooner than August, that's way longer than I expected. Figured I'd submit an application and be at WPAFB 2 months later. Hoping I can bump that up.

Well if you applied in Jan, i applied in March. So 5 months from application to date for me.

Good to hear I'm not the only slow one though.

I am in the same boat. My FC1 paperwork was submitted late April and received a date of 3 Sep. Is there anyway to expedite FC1? I was told that it can take up to 3 months to have the FC1 approved. That’ll definitely put me pass my separation date from the Corps (Nov 1). I may have to ask for an extension.

From what my recruiter/unit both said, "That sucks. Everyone asks to fill in absentee slots or speed it up somehow but its just slow." So good luck, man.

That sucks, I guess I got really lucky. My FC1 was requested on 1 May and I am going up to Wright Patterson next month.

Don't cry about one year. Check this out.

Navy IRR officer transfer to AFRC.

MAR:2017 Squadron interview and hired.

Long story short: I jumped through many medical hoops and in the end I didn't require a waiver. I was very proactive during this process, and it required using in-squadron medical folks and a letter from a VA specialist to get the ball rolling (CSOs can get FC1A done in-house/in-squadron). My medical finally made it through the AFRC/SG backlog and was blue-stamped by AETC. We tried using a reserve medical squadron closer my current home, but medical sat for about a 1.5-2 years (My squadron and I were proactive during this time also.)

Scroll list: This has been a huge hang up. This is my 3rd time sending the request up, and both the Navy and Air Force finally have everything in order for the transfer. My recruiter's boss suggested calling my state senator to complain. Navy personnel command didn't know why the hold up was happening either. I found a number for the Pentagon's Office of Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. This office helped track down names and numbers of folks that assisted. I was contacted by the AFRC's Personnel Office the next day. They let me know everything is good to go now. The hangup was SECDEF needed my IRR promotion to O-3 from the Navy. All my paperwork is now going back up the chain...for the 3rd time.

I'm being told in-process with the 340th is October and follow-on orders should be sometime after. My hiring squadron is pushing for sooner. 2+ years...
