PIT Crash Pad

Sorry, "Cock Pit" still sounds like a gay bar when you separate the words like that...but so does "HOTel cORAL esSEX"!

But I've got nothing else. Maybe "The Money Pit?" Nope, that sucks too. Personally, I could call it "Caveman's Crib"...

FYI, I am still deciding on the name...have been looking at domain names for the website. As much as I like Hookers and Blow (STS)...wait, forget the (STS), I would probably blush 3 shades everytime a girl scout came to the door trying to sell her dosi-dildos and creme filled cookies. Plus, I don't want to have any problems with advertisement. I can see it now, posted in the Randolph paper or at base housing office: Come stay at the Hookers and Blow, you can find additional information at www.hookersandblow.com, and yes...there is information there on gay sex and porn (I checked).

You can still use hookers and blow. Shorten it to H&B Enterprises or something like that. The hookers and the blow you desire, without the guilt!

If the Michael Irvin Suite is taken, I'll take the Steve Howe bungalow.

I know there are quite a few witty/creative individuals on this forum...and I am not one of them! I need help coming up with a name for a PIT crash pad I purchased down in Cibolo TX (Randolph AFB). Here is the deal! I bought this brand new 4 bdrm home and have spent over $20K on furnishing this place like a luxury hotel. Here is the premise....I have stayed at Randolph's billeting several times and admit it's not too bad for a short-term stay, but lacks the comforts of a home for long-term use. I am trying to provide a better option for single dudes wishing to stay off base while going through PIT training but at the same rate as billeting ($27 per night). I will have 3 individuals in the home at anyone time. Here are some of the things I feel will make this an attractive option.

1. Fully furnished, to include washer/dryer, flat screen tv's in every room, HD Tv/DVR/DVD/Direct Tv in every bedroom

2. Utilities included

3. Lawn Service

4. Sorry..but the formal dinning room has been converted to a Bar! Darts, foosball, cards, and Kegerator

5. Gameroom upstairs is a study area

6. Living area has 42" flat screen mounted over fireplace w/surround sound

7. Grill outside

8. Currently searching for a Hot tub for outback

9. All linnens/towels provided (600 thread count sheets)

10. Top of the line Pillow top mattresses in every bedroom, alarm clocks, phones

11. Kitchen is fully supplied with everything

Ok...what I need from you guys! The crash pad will be open for business 2 Jan 08 and 2 rooms are already taken through May 08. I need a name for the place that will be placed on the front door and also will be the name of my LLC. Be creative...the individual who comes up with the name that I end up using will win a $50 gift certificate to their favorite restaraunt. I am considering something along the lines of an aviation theme...but no a must. Also, I am considering naming each of the individual suite in the house and would be great if it all tied together. Thanks in advance for the help...and hope I can buy dinner for one of you witty guys/gals.

cheers,

Sparky

Well, after much deliberation and great help from you guys I have made my decision on the name. Congrats to "Outbreak"...I have decided the official name will be "The PIT Crash Pad". It is up and running and the first dude (Bluto) will be moving in here this Friday. I have another scheduled in 2 Jan, so still looking for one more. Outbreak, please PM me with your contact info and where you want your $50 gift certificate sent to. Also, let me know what establishment you would like your certificate from..any restaraunt or store, as long as I can find it online or in San Antonio. Thanks again to everyone with your ideas, there really were some great ones that I would have loved to use but for advertising purposes I felt as though this one was most suitable. Anyone else can earn a $50 gift certificate for referring one of your bro's who is scheduled to attend PIT/IFF if they decide to stay at the Pad. Just have them tell me that they found out about it from you on Baseops.net and then send me a PM telling me where to send it and from what store/restaraunt. Just to give you guys an update on what has been done these past 3 days with the house (yes..I closed on Friday). I set up every room complete with queen or full size beds, pillow top mattresses, phones (unlimited long distance), alarm clocks, linens, towels, flat screen HD TV's, HD Direct TV with all premium channels and DVD Players. Living room has all brand new leather furniture, 42" Flat Screen TV with HD/DVR Direct TV and XBox/DVD Player. Kitchen has everything you would have at home. Still trying to Find a good deal on a High-end Tornado Foosball table for the Bar area. If anyone knows where I can get one for a discounted price in the San Antonio area...let me know. Office is set up with Desktop computer, wireless N network throughout the house, including a Wireless Printer/copier/fax/scanner on the secure network. That's about it for now...thanks again. Oh yeah..I installed 6 ceiling fans throughout the house, I will never do that again..what a pain in the a$$!

Cheers,

Sparky

Sparky, you're a genius. I just finished EWO school, and staying in that one-room hotel for five months was, well, unpleasant. I remember thinking "Best in AETC? Really?" every time I went to the main office to pay my bill.

Just out of curiousity, what kind of return are you getting on this enterprise? Seems like a smart idea for someone with the money to invest up-front.

After I get the place fully operational and rented out, I look to make around $1000 a month or so...but it will take me quite a while to recoup the more than $50K I have already sunk into it, but $22K of that was a down payment so that money is still there..just not readily accessable.

Not too bad actually, 2 and 1/2 years to get your $28K back - then you use Big Blue's TDY money to pay off your mortgage. Nice!!! Just have to hope you can keep it maintained without a bunch of guys tearing it up...

Sounds like a pretty good idea for sure! Good luck with it.

Sparky...would you think your new place would be suitible for a young married couple (no kids)?

I'm getting married in April, and I just got my RIP for IFF. I'll be at KRND in May of next year for a couple months, and it's a TDY enroute from Sheppard to Luke.

Needless to say, the VOQs at KRND are NOT my first choice. Your place (or a similar pad) would be ideal. I'll be earning full BAH while I'm there, so I could even rent an apartment...but the problem is that my stuff will already be with TMO. I don't want to have to carry my whole kitchen to a new apartment just for a two-month stint at IFF.

So is this a good idea, or is your place not really "woman-folk friendly?" If it's not, do you know of any other places I might want to check out?

Thanks man. :)

Are you asking him if, among the 42" flat screen, bar, and wireless, he also installed a feminine hygiene product dispenser?

Coming soon!

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to the spin-up of The PIT Crash Pad! I do have another problem now....and thought there may be some of you on here who could provide some advice. The PIT Crash Pad business has been a lot better than originally expected. So good, that I have had to turn away at least 8 guys looking to stay in the pad in the last 2 weeks alone and don't have any availability until June. I want to open up The PIT Crash Pad II, but trying to figure out how to finance this one. I have depleted a great deal of my liquid assets setting up the first one and am trying to figure out what to do for the next one. I am not that interested in using my VA loan for this purchase, but do have it available...I will be living in this next house for a short while so I would be eligible to use it if needed. I also don't want to pay PMI on this property so if anyone has any ideas for creative financing...I would appreciate it. I also want to finance all the furnishings in the house as well, with very little out of my pocket/savings. Also, anyone in the San Antonio area who has a good tax accountant...please send me some info.

cheers,

Sparky

Sparky-

Your crash pad sounds a lot like the Q rooms at Ellington. Getting the Playboy channel in each room was key. Good luck in your ventures...sounds like a great place to stay. Hopefully dudes will respect the property.

It's close but lacks the hot chicks that EFD has.

That coming from the dude who complained today because the maid wasn't wearing her french maid's uniform. Skinamax was about the best I could do..but dudes are more than welcome to utilyze the pay per view option at anytime.

No problems so far Techsan....but the pad has only been open 2 months, so we will see. Bluto pretty much keeps all the young'ens in line.
