If you’re talking ACSC DL, check the end of the instructions for the answer key. If I remember right, they said something like, “Since you read all the instructions, here’s the answers.”

thanks, i ended up brute forcing my way through it.

Of course it can - and, as I originally posted, the info I have is it’s going to a five year window. Don’t care if you want to shoot holes in that information brother, do what you like. All I’m passing is that’s the brief I saw. Take it or leave it.

this going to apply to the reserves too? would be helpful to not get me booted for non promotion when i go up for O-5

Who all is wearing the green Massif-CWAS jackets? My squadron just got them, and our chiefs are trying to convince our leadership that we need to sew rank on the shoulders like the old flight jacket and the bag. I’m getting data points to present to the Bobs that we would be the only unit in the Air Force with rank sewn on the shoulders of this sweet jacket.if y’all could  let me know what unit you’re with, that’d be great too. Also; does  anyone have a Memo giving guidance on the patches and rank?

i'm on the reserve side of AFMC and we wear them in our squadron, no rank on it, just rank on the nametag...flightsuit style 2 lines.  339th FLTS

I love how the rules of poker can change mid-hand.

This is certainly changing my decision matrix on going back to flying next summer with 1 year of UPT ADSC left.  If I decline a PCS, sit in place for an extra year I'll have been out of a jet for 4 years.  However, with a solid flying record and ATP in hand, I think/hope a regional will let me buy them a drink while I wait for an interview.

A regional will call you within 24 hours of applying, assuming you apply during the week.

Sling Blade...I'm a second assignment RPA dude with 2.5 years left on my sentence. I've heavily pondered options including returning to white jets, guard/reserve, RPA contractings(plus traditional guard/reserve) and CFI to get me from 350 hours to 750 for R-ATP mins. I reached the same conclusion tunes did...

With that being said, right now I'm really hoping to return to teach in T-6s. I had a blast flying them in UPT and I legitimately enjoy teaching, but my calculus also figured that my best path to seniority at a major ASAP is starting to log more flight hours (however I can) while I'm still active duty. I'm obviously going to incur an additional 1-1.5 years if the T-6 gig happens, but I'm also going to hopefully have an additional 800-1000 hours in the next 2.5 years ahead of what I would have if I waited. It probably won't eliminate my need to fly for a regional or smaller cargo carrier, but it will definitely reduce the time it takes to bump up to a major (and increase my marketability for a flying guard unit).

Were you talking about RPA contractors or deployed flying contracts? I'm very familiar with pretty much all of the RPA contracting jobs. They pay great....but I'd like to pick where I live and quality of life to spend time with my family and on other priorities is a bigger factor for me than pay (I don't want to work in Vegas, New Mexico, or 3 on 3 off to various crap holes of the planet). Also, the gravy train will end at some point when the Air Force realizes it is shooting itself in the foot with RPA retentio. Deployed ISR flying contracting is something I hadn't really thought about though as another possible path to get to my 750 hours for the R-ATP. Anybody have gouge on co-pilot hiring requirements, pay, ops tempo, and the types of aircraft (assuming MC-12 and King Air type stuff). Admittedly, I haven't googled it yet.

Get out, join a UPT reserve unit, go to a regional, consolidate, wait for a call from a major.

You guys are crazy. No way you get an ADSC for in-house, CC directed requals. AFPC can’t even track that level of training. I’m pretty sure the reg is referring to formal ETCA courses that are conducted in the unit.

So I can just say Pcola said it, so i cant get an adsc from it.

Any second assignment RPA folks that tack on an extra year or three at the end of their UPT commitment for the privilege of meeting airline hiring mins are chumps.  Any three letter contractor will pick them up for equal to or better than airline pay starting on day one.  The folks that do take the bait are going to end up eating 365s and other shit deals and never see the flying experience they hoped to get.  Not to mention the ops squadrons would be getting inexperienced copilots that are mostly worthless training burdens with no return...as majors...with huge chips on their shoulders.  But you know YOLO.  Let me know how it goes.  AFPC counting on RPA returns to backfill demand is a pretty dubious proposition in my opinion.  All those folks are getting out.  Ask me how I know.

Seniority is everything. You should do what gets you on the seniority list the fastest.

Question for the masses. I’m about 50/50 on if I will be separating in the next 6 to 8 months (pending second passover). Should I go ahead and post my airline apps with my end of UPT commitment being my availability date (1.5 years away) and move it up if I get passed over, or just wait to get passed over before I publish them with an “immediate” availability date? Thanks!

If you are talking about an O-4 board isn’t it a 100% promotion now for AD?

That's a bit much.  Dude is just going with what he sees/hears a huge majority of the ARC guys doing after getting hired at the airlines.  Guys openly talk about this stuff all the time and although I wouldn't want to do it, I get it.  In same cases, my squadron included, these dudes are needed to fill vital spots in the squadron.  The airlines have gutted many squadrons of a huge majority of their experienced guys...and it's only going to get worse.  If some of our guys hadn't gone back on orders it would be nearly impossible to fill the alert schedule without outside help.  I'm glad these guys are willing to jump on that sword, because have I have absolutely ZERO desire to go back full time.  Even if I weren't still under my UPT ADSC, the current bonus isn't even half of what it would require for me to consider full time.  Also, don't act as if any airline wouldn't hesitate to drop any one of us if they could/needed.

Having run the numbers myself, if you're only going to get a part time retirement, I don't see much gain in going full time just pad your points.  The $$$ I would lose by going full time, coupled with the time value of money, significantly dwarfs what little gain in (part time) retirement I would get.  Obviously if you're going to be able to make it to a full time retirement, that changes everything.  I'm just to far away from a full time retirement and I enjoy part time way too much.

While i get that, if he does what he’s saying all he does is screw his buddy...likely someone he doesn’t even know. I’m all for benefiting your situation, but you need to get off probation before pulling a stunt like that. As others have said, they cant fire you for mil leave, but it will put a big target on your back and any minor slip up and you are gone. I’m on the mil affairs committee and out of our ~1,500 mil pilots less than 10 are problem children. Just don’t be ‘that guy’.

Copy shots...I was not aware there was profit sharing, etc. immediately following hiring.  In my mind it was purely a number on a spread sheet and nothing more (e.g. no loss for the company in the short term); now I'm more educated (but still pretty dumb on the whole process).  I don't know exactly when the orders will start, but even if I'm hired quickly, I probably wouldn't be able to get through more than 4-6 months of probation.  Is at least some amount of probation OK or are you guys saying do all or don't even try for the airlines until you have the full year (or more) to commit?

Please do us at delta a favor and don’t come here.

Oh ok thanks for the input, tunes. Sounds like a great gig.

Does your reserve unit have active pilots flying with you?

We can't all be C-21's :aviator: Somebody's gotta do real work.

AD owns the airplanes but we fly them also. We do intermix crews. Two separate squadrons at Dover though.

I'm looking at a C-5 PCS IQ or ACIQ in the next couple months.

Where is the active duty FTU? Are they all M's now?  What's the TDY rate average these days? Does the San Antonio reserve unit have any active pilot slots (total force)?

The bro consensus is: never deploy, gone a lot, wife dries her tears with Benjamin's...

    Anything more I should know?

school house is in Dover for now but will be moving to Kelly from what I'm told. Dover is all M's. I believe Travis is as well. Kelly has started to get a few. No clue about AD slots there. I loved it AD, still doing it Reserves. I wouldn't quite say gone a lot. Way less than all the other AMC airframes (minus the C-21)

Yup - would be an easy unit to support.  Close to an airline hub, high density of military facilities for mutual support and desirable location - all things the AF would not compute.

Consider it strategically, how do I get people to volunteer / not feel too bitter about driving a droid?

Desirable locations, distribution across time zones, reasonable GA flying program for professional aviator development, base of choice or MDS crossflow for volunteers for 4 year assignments.  This is not that hard AF.

agreed. I was pretty interested in continuing guard/reserve doing RPAs after getting the airline job. Talked to creech about it and I just can't commit to 6 days a month as a commuter. Living there would be different...hence the would love to do it in CO.

I can confirm that it has worked a few times with Amex.  You are supposed to be on active duty to get it, but I periodically get emails from them saying that they did another review of my account and have waived annual fees.  Most of the time I was not on AD but was a Reservist instead.

Not sure where the section about the account has to have been opened before AD came from.  An AD friend opened an Amex Platinum while on AD and then 4 years later wrote Amex and was given like $2K back in fees.

Also, Amex has a special section in their Contact Us section specifically for SCRA.  So you don't have to mention it or ask any questions like that web link says.  Basically, under the "reasons why you are contacting us" section, there is a specific dropdown for SCRA relief request.  The only thing is that sometimes it is hard to find that part of the website when you are logged into your Amex account.  It shows up differently for me and for my friend, but you should be able to find the section in the Site Map.  Much easier than calling in.

lucky. I've been trying the past year as a reservist to keep my SCRA stuff with them and it gets denied every time.
