I know they added more spots on the south side in the last few years. I think typically tues/wed is the peak of traffic when they have turned non "showplanes" (experimental, vintage, warbird) away.
I'll be in HBC all week in my RV-6. I really hope the smoke stays away. Flying into the show is quite the experience. I feel like the last two times i've flown in the arrival line started about 60miles from the field going past endeavor bridge. But i've always shown up at peak times in the afternoon.

From my understanding that only happened for those on the original SGTO where they sent you to Miami to train on a 767 sim. If you go through an Air Force KC-46 school house it doesn't happen.
Correct, some beancounter decided to not add it to the list.

I should have read this thread about a year ago. Great info for new dudes!

If it's designed for single pilot then it'd obviously be more manageable but as it stands, it's a bad idea.
But like a few guys have hinted at, why not just go unmanned for the close stuff.
Design future AF fighters for both boom and drouge. Kiss the giant manned (unmanned?) tankers good bye as you continue on to mainland China behind your ucav buddies with baskets. Godspeed. That's gonna suck to be them.
Make a KB-21 for that.

What’s happening with the AFRC units personnel who just went through BTX/PTX?
They don't know. Some are looking into different units.

What are the differences between the KC-46 and the KC-767?
I haven’t heard any bad things about the ‘67
All of the airframes have the passenger windows on them just covered up, the boom is more like the KC-135 boom (KC-46 boom is more like the KC-10). Some of the Japanese pilots i've talked to say that they can't offload as much fuel as the 46 for weight reasons I think. The integrated mission systems on the 46 are another difference.

RUMINT, guard is gonna loose their 135s and take the 46s away from he reserve squadrons

So what kind of fuel can it carry/offload.

That sucks.
Thoughts on what a LODA is? Approval process? How long it lasts? Does everyone have to get one? That kind of stuffThe EAA article talks about it a towards the end of the article. Previously only CFIs who used their own experimental to instruct in (and charged for instruction) needed a LODA. Hopefully the EAA and AOPA can get this changed the FAA is starting to act like the ATF now.

If someone goes from AD to a TR position the only way is to take terminal leave or sell the leave back before separating?

Not sure about Vance but the other 3 bases all have good places to hit the water.
We were on the lake every nice weekend during UPT.

Even if close formation flying isn't tactically relevant, it is a vital skill which you have to be able to do when things are going south. There are a lot of hazreps recently in the F-35 community regarding tanker operations likely because of the lack of focus on basic formation flying skills.
This.

We should do what Nigeria did and build a fleet of Van's RV-6 airplanes to put at bases. Cheap maintenance costs, aerobatic, cruises the same speed as a SR-20 burning almost half as much fuel.

Normally the hotels are booked up pretty far out so 4 miles away is not bad at all.
As far as airports I'd just go with which ever has the better flight for your schedule (MCO/TPA). SFB would add another hour to the drive.
Overall similar vibes to Oshkosh. There is no beer tent like there is right outside of Oshkosh but sometimes people will throw parties on the grounds after hours. If you go on vansairforce it will just be a bunch of old dudes complaining about how they have to walk really far from homebuilt camping.
Are you going to Oshkosh this year?
VA disability that doesn’t affect FAA/ civilian flying

Nice, this is how you do it. keep us posted
But yea you see developers that look into this hangar shortage and realize the same, so some are looking at commercial or residental space+hangar space to make it profitable to build at some airports.
