  1. UCSO training doesn’t need IFT. Instructors have been trying to get rid of it for a long time. Most of the people I went through UCSO training with hated IFT and didn't learn anything that helped with our training. A few of the guys liked it only for the flight hours they could log toward getting their PPL but those hours don’t mean much when you lose a year between IFT and CSO graduation. Unfortunately during CSO training you get no PIC time so it doesn’t help with PPL. Good luck to anyone going to Pensacola the city is probably one of the best places to be stationed for training. The base sucks though because it’s an old old old navy base.
  2. Finally have my orders switching me from Randolph over to Columbus for UPT(still bummed about this). RNLT of 31Aug(didn’t change). PCSing from Dyess AFB end of July has been approved. Still no class start date but talking to an instructor I have been told Columbus won’t class anyone up until arrival on station and the current wait is about 6 months. Longer if the Academy/ROTC grads get on station before you arrive. See you folks in MS! -Dan
  3. Yuck. Just got changed from Randolph to Columbus. I feel like the Air Force just took away all of our Christmas presents haha. “Oh you like the idea of UPT being in a large city? Yeah we aren’t going to let UPT be at a good base that can actually support your family while you go through training. “ Big brother Air Force got me good this time.
  4. Because it’s a TDY from current base you will need to request your current squadron pay for at least 2 flight suits for you. If you can get it I would ask for 3 but if they refuse then it will be on you to purchase for your TDY. You can purchase on your GTC and submit the receipt after your TDY as a required expense to get reimbursement but again it could be refused depending on your approving agent.
  5. Got RIPs for UPT at Randolph AFB. RNLT Aug 20 no class date on the RIP. Did some digging through Randolph personnel found out the Randolph is straight line UPT for 2020. Not UPT Next but they are loading the classes with “lots of candidates who already have PPL or flying experience.” I am currently a WSO with my Commercial license. Wright pat RIP is Jan 29.
