Got notification for the 190th ARW UPT board being held in February to fly KC-135s in Topeka, KS. Packets are due by January 7th and I can send more information to anyone who's interested. I'm no longer in the hunt but visited a few times and it seems like a great group of guys out there.

If you could send me this info that would be awesome!! Thanks for looking out for everyone and offering the help

Guessing this is with the Okies? Im curious as to how it went and what the process was like!

It was with the Okies. Like I said it was my first time at a meet and greet so I didn't really know what to expect. It went well though, myself along with other interviewees met at the visitor center outside the base in the morning and were escorted on. The majority of the day we spent at the squadron meeting pilots and anyone else around, introducing ourselves and talking about our interests in the Unit, etc. It was very laid back but got to hear some about the history of the squadron, the mission, the airframe, and got to tour around. All in all a great experience to get to meet a unit you are interested in and let them get to know you before the possibility of an interview.

Business casual with some nice dress shoes is usually the go to. Don’t be the only dingus showing up in a suit lol.

As far as gifts: it’s usually an alcohol donation to the bar, but I would check with your hiring POC if it’s kosher to bring some. Also seen donuts and coffee being donated which was well received.

    Good luck dude!

I appreciate the advice! Thanks for all the help

Would anyone mind posting when/if they hear back from the 125th FW out of Jacksonville? Just so we can know we didn’t get it.

I’m in the same boat. They said it could be a week or two into July before we hear back but starting to get the feeling no news could be bad news

Anyone have any updates on if the 121st ARW out of Columbus Ohio and if application are still due on the 15th of May? I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone so far.

I have not heard anything back or been able to reach anyone either.

I’m in a 135 unit that doesn’t even advertise our boards because it just gets stupid. Maybe not as nice as Tampa but within a 2 hour drive to a hub for every major airline. I can easily see 200 apps flooding in to Tampa.

If you don’t mind me asking. What unit are you in and do you have any advice? I’ve only recently started applying to units and the 135 is currently my top choice but all of a sudden after hearing how many people are applying I wonder if it’s realistic

Just heard from the 63rd ARS at MacDill, rushing has been pushed back to the June and July UTAs with interviews in August. In terms of numbers, they said they received over 200 applications, so pretty competitive.

Did you contact them to find out or did they email you and let you know?

  8. So I am new to the application process. But I have seen a few bases (Peterson, Travis, etc.) on BogiDope that lists the UPT Interview Board as continuous. Does anyone know how applying to those bases works? Is it worth calling the POC or sending in an application package and seeing when they are hiring? Or does it just mean they are always accepting applications but the board is still only at certain times?

  9. Has anyone heard anything or received any response from the 63rd ARS at MacDill? I only ask because in their timeline it said they would send out invites to visit in March/April so I don't know if they would let you know this quickly or if they may still be reviewing applications since the deadline was only about a week ago. From what I can see from reading here it seems some Units' invites are sent out almost immediately and if you don't hear anything quickly then it's probably a bad sign, but others responses seem like they hear back well after the deadline. Thanks

  10. Does anyone have any insight on the MacDill board coming up in June? I know the applications are due March 1st and I have looked at the info on BogiDope for a timeline. Just wondering if anyone knows how competitive/how many candidates usually are asked to rush or are interviewed. I only ask because most job postings have a very direct/cut and dry list of what to send in whereas the posting for MacDill is very laid back and just says shoot a resume to the email listed. Any info or tips would be great, thanks

  11. I am 24 years old and plan on applying to both Reserve and ANG heavy units this Spring. I have my bachelors degree with a 3.33 GPA. My AFOQT scores are: P:79, N:73, AA: 79, V: 56, Q:88. My PPL checkride is scheduled for February 14th and currently have roughly 57 hours. I plan to get LOR from my CFI, my Scout Master (Eagle Scout), and a professor from college.  I take the TBAS tomorrow and then will receive my PCSM. I know there is not much a way to tell me chances without a PCSM, however, if I do well on the TBAS and receive a good PCSM, is that the main factor considered? Or should I also retake the AFOQT? I know my scores are lower in Pilot and Nav than I would like them to be, when I previously took the AFOQT I had no flight experience so I am confident I could boost my scores in those categories. However, it has been awhile since I have been enrolled in school so I am worried other categories may suffer from not being as familiar with the math and engineering type questions anymore. Just looking to get advice on what to do or if I should retake tests, how my current scores look if anyone has an idea if these would be competitive for heavies since it seems most people ask about fighters, or anything else anyone has to offer.

    Thanks for the help

  12. I am 24 years old with a bachelors degree and my AFOQT scores. I am currently finishing my private pilot license and hope to have it finished by December. I have been advised to go ahead and start contacting bases and units to get information on meet and greets or any type of visit to show interest. However, I am worried about contacting bases prior to being finished and not being ready to apply because it seems like contacting them asking about hiring boards and meet and greets would be jumping the gun prior to finishing my license. Or is it a good idea to go ahead and contact bases and try to make some contacts to see when their hiring boards are and to show interest in flying for the unit?
