  1. I guess I didn’t phrase this correctly, I see no problem with pilots becoming more fit, getting stuff like a personal trainer, coach, etc. But the way I read the article this was another thing that is going to be pushed onto pilots during initial training. At Luke I’m 99% sure they already have something like this. There was a dedicated fitness coach/trainer in a gym that was only for pilots. Fitness is great, but I personally feel like mishaps should be addressed before anything else. I’m not in a big picture position, and again I’m a nobody that knows nothing, just trying to get a better understanding of everything. Thanks for the reply. 2. Maj. Gen. Wills says the AF needs to focus on human performance optimization in UPT 2.5. I’m just a nobody who knows nothing, but to me this sounds like another thing pulling pilots in training out of the plane, and into something else. While I understand that physical performance can help with combating fatigue and things like GLOC, would that really help curb the accidents? I haven’t read a report yet that mentions fitness or resilience as root causes. Just my two cents. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  3. https://theintercept.com/2020/12/24/solarwinds-hack-power-infrastructure/ I’m completely uneducated in cyber security and the likes. However even I know that the password for an update server shouldn’t be your company name with 123 on the end of it. Any input on this? US Government was listed as a customer of solarwinds/sunburst. Along with like 452 of the Fortune 500 companies. How far could they (hackers) have reached, what could already be done that hasn’t even been looked at yet? The article mostly focuses on the power grid/production side of it. While seemingly trying to downplay the severity of it. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  4. Not to hijack away from MyCS. But according to Air Force Mag, retention problems are a thing of the past. Removing bonuses, possible forced cross training, and AD to reserve/guard options. Ringing a bell from the 2013-2014 time frame? Can only hope they know what they’re doing here. Playing devils advocate, with a surplus of people, what’s the right move for the Air Force? Is there a way to eliminate the ebb and flow we seemingly have at least once a decade? https://www.airforcemag.com/air-force-retention-soars-amid-covid-19-uncertainty/ Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  5. I’m very naive when it comes to big picture stuff. But if everything is still working in the AF without pilots filling staff jobs, does the AF really need pilots to fill staff slots? I understand people (pilots for example) don’t like leaders without flying experience/job knowledge making the big decisions. But it seems to me there might be some correlation between staff jobs being gutted, and FGOs staying in? Again, just picking that up from the article. I could be way off. I was prior-E and in college now so I have zero knowledge on this level of thinking. Just trying to gain a better understanding. Thanks for the reply. 6. Was reading this article, they talk a lot about how retention revolves around keeping FGO’s in staff positions? My understanding after lurking the forums for a while was that almost all pilots want to stay flying and don’t want a staff job. They even say that since the Air Force has “cut” staff positions and kept Majors and LT Cols flying the FGO Manning has gone to 750 over. Is this the Air Force not understanding its people again, or am I missing something? https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2020/07/07/heres-where-the-air-forces-pilot-shortfall-is-the-worst/ Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  8. I’ve been at Luke for 4 years. Everything whis said is true. Have lived in Goodyear and Buckeye and friends have lived all over. Obviously anything outdoors you can do in AZ. Hiking, camping, hunting and fishing all within minutes of Luke. Skiing and snowboarding up north for almost half the year. Hot, long summers and winters aren’t bad. Luke is only a few hours from California beaches, Vegas, and the Grand Canyon. I’ll be here for another 2 years as well. Daycare on base was great for my kid. If you’d like a different perspective from whis you can shoot me a PM as well. Seems like they know their stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
