  1. Good morning all, Board results were just announced and I was one of the unfortunate ones that didn’t make it. Had about 24hrs to soak up this information and I think it’s time for me to start thinking about what’s going to happen next in my life. Here’s some info about my career so far. Commissioned 2015 and went to a non-rated career field. In 2019 I decided to apply for the Late-to-rate boards and got picked up as an early Captain. Currently in a flying unit flying the best MAF aircraft out there (IYKYK). A basic AC with about 1000 total time (UPT/Current MWS). I had an assignment to be an instructor for UPT leaving for PIT in a couple of months, but then I got the news. Ive already been asking around on how to navigate through this, but being this is a pilot forum I’m thinking of taking my talents to the civilian sector. I heard that if I don’t promote next time around (or decline promotion) I can get out without finishing the rest of my ADSC (2031), is that true? Also do yall believe I will still be sent to PIT knowing that my “next look PRF” will be comprised mainly of PIT? I know I will have to talk with my CoC and probably legal for definite but I wanted to get y’all’s insight. Finally, can I still get hired by a Guard or Reserve unit and not have to finish my ADSC if I turn down promotion? Thanks yall -Rick
  2. Heading to XL in June, married but SO won't be accompanying me. What is the best way to live on base and collect some BAH that is legal? I've heard you could get a few roommates and get a place on base housing splitting the costs. Thanks in advance.
  3. Still nothing on my end as well. My PDD is coming up in March. I talked with my functional and they said it new orders should generate and replace your old ones. Talked with AFPC and they are still matching and generating RIPs on their end. They also said if you dont receive something in the next week or two give them a call.
  4. Anyone not received a RIP yet? Or notification of their base or RNLT dates? Still waiting on mine, but I did have orders previously generated from my current AFSC.
  5. So i was just told that I got UPT and CSO is there a discrepancy somewhere here? Do they give you choices? I really hope its not just CSO...
  6. Good afternoon all, Does anyone know how backed-up it is to start training at each of the Pilot bases. I've heard from a friend that an individual who got picked up on last AD board is still waiting to start at her previous base (Cross Training). Thanks in advance. -Mike
  7. Might have been answered in another thread but does anyone know if your AFOQT score affects what track you go towards while you are in UPT, or is just how you fly? I know guard units look heavily at Pilot Scores for their selection process. -Mike
  8. So let me start off by saying that I am currently an Active Duty 0-2, and all i want to do is fly. I have close to 4 years in and with another 1.5 years left on my ADSC. 26 yrs old and no medical conditions. I have applied for the 2019 AD UFT board with hopes of getting picked up. During this process, almost all of the pilots whom I work with were telling me about applying to become guard. From what i hear the OPS tempo is much more chill, UPT is less stressful (know what platform already), and the Qweep (additional duties outside of flying) are negligible compared to AD side (Biggest upside according to them). From their advice i am now looking to apply to some units close to home. My question, for all of you who have been through it before, is the guard really like these fairytales the pilots are telling me? Ideally i would like to have an airline job while doing the whole "part-time traditional gig". Would the guard put me on active orders for a year or so to build hours after UPT? Afterwards would i be competitive when applying to these airliners? Finally, does anyone have any good templates to use for a Resume/Introduction Letter? Thanks in advance. Of course this is assuming the fact that I get picked up for either AD/Guard pilot slot.
  9. Man, Reading all the stories on here sure brings a damper on my scores. I originally took the AFOQT in 2014 and got a 65 (pilot), years later I decided to take it again and just recently got a 67 (this was after a bit of studying , about a month or so). Currently I sit around a 53 with my flight hours (30hrs). I have yet to retake the TBAS (which I think i would do better alot better than my first attempt on). And I wanted to apply for the 2019 UFT board. I have 2 options that I see... 1) Pass on this board and try for the next board after I retake the AFOQT. That being said I will PCS during that time and have to spend at least 1 year TOS before I am eligible to reapply. So im looking at the 2021 board. 2) Just kill the TBAS and get my PPL and increase my flight hours (realistically 61-80hrs range) and hope for the best. This would probably bring me around the mid 60ish range. 2b) If I do get a rated position other than pilot accept it and in 2.5 years retrain to the pilot career field. Thoughts?
