It’s a little nerve racking applying as a 2d Lt with only 1 year in the military because I don’t have that level of leadership experience others may have in their package. I feel confident in my package, but its only based on 1 years work. Hoping my letter of Rec and personal letter save the day lol
I was in your shoes ~3 years ago. Scores and letter of rec were my saving grace too. My board had 7/62 2d Lts selected for pilot, including myself. The board works in mysterious ways💫

My two cents as a first generation immigrant, this is a stupid idea. I'd imagine you'd want classes to have the opportunity to get viewpoints and bond with minorities, not throw them all in one class and separate them. I get that the AF demographics aren't representative of the population as a whole in the Air Force but how does this change anything? They should focus on outreach, I never considered joining until I was a senior in college and it was by chance I had a professor who was a retired AF Officer. They should also streamline the recruiting process for OTS. I was a non-select the 1st time I applied and after I got picked up the second time around, it took 1.5 years from application to attending OTS which is quicker then most. Some people don't have the luxury of waiting around 6 months for a board decision then waiting to go to OTS.
All same here, first person in my family born in America. Whoever thought of this idea was completely out of their element.
I joined ROTC pretty late, my two cents on their “outreach” is this: its complete booty. Theres no real effort at the officer recruitment level at diversity.

On a good note, rate of new infections nationwide has been slowly dropping, and deaths have been down for the third day in a row.

So April 30 is the new date.. I feel like we are setting ourselves up for failure and/or disappointment.
I learned once upon a time that event/phased based operations are more effective than time based operations.. I’m relatively certain there are more than a few DLOs to that effect..
so.. What is the event based trigger (expected to occur on April 30th) Trump/Fauci/whoever is looking for so we can ease restrictions?
And.. what do those eased restrictions/guidelines look like? I assume they have a plan, right? 😉
Getting on the back end of the curve, with less new cases and deaths per day. Having rapid testing everywhere to clear people back to work. Maybe a decent treatment program (anti-malaria drugs, antibodies, etc). Probably partial openings, restaurants/bars are screwed for a while longer, schools are done till August. Vaccine is at least a year out.

A buddy and I have been talking about how the bad situation we are in is a breeding ground for the rise of bad ideas. Here is a Harvard professor literally suggesting fascism.
Not directly COVID-19 related, but still need to be wary.

Oh man sorry to hear that. Now I'm worried about dates for next month.
Edit: Where did you find out they were delayed?
Got email saying there was a change, checked vMPF for my assignment and saw it. My new orders haven’t even been cut yet.
I’m glad Im still going.

When was yours originally?
31 May. Not sure if COVID related, but probably is. Gonna get more info on Monday, I knew Laughlin was having housing issues with graduates not being able to PCS out, so probably some backup alleviation.

PCS to Laughlin pushed back to 30 July.

This mornings earthquake here in Utah definitely has people on edge more than before. Stores have lines now due to limitations to how many people are allowed in due to possibly compromised structures. At least they have TP and some cleaning stuff on hand.
Listen to the CDC. Wash your ing hands, distance yourselves from others. This will all be over sooner if we all do what we have to do. Im just glad its not hitting kids.

Just about every engineering office at Hill has gone to telework. No pants and Uber Eats!

Rated assignments team said its a rapidly changing situation, but AETC is working to make UFT “mission essential.” I would assume its all still a go.

They've already cancelled drop nights here at KEND. I personally think XCs are next. So, yeah, we're gonna get shoved back.
Are they still doing drops even without the nights?

I wonder what the over/under is on our PCS’ being moved.....

92T0 I think. Thats your standard “pilot trainee” AFSC

Hey buddy, I do hope you get Vance and that you’re situation is sorted out. If you are still stuck going to Laughlin, I’ll be there in June as well, you can hit me up anytime 🍻

What are your guys’ tips on mold mitigation? Only thing I can imagine I can’t do is cleaning deep inside the ducts, but cleaning the vents and coils, putting in a decent HEPA filter, and a strong dehumidifier should make it livable I suppose.

Heading to Laughlin in June for UPT, looking to see how base housing is like. Are there typically vacancies or is there a long wait for housing? How is home internet when living on base, thats the only thing I can’t get a solid answer on.
Going to be there with my wife, shes a high school teacher, I appreciate any info on the local school system.
Also if anyone is selling a washing machine and dryer at that time, I am in the market for one when I get there.
Thanks!

I wonder if this has something to do with the migration to UPT 2.5 we'll all be in.
Where did you hear that Bob? Is that for all UPT bases?
Only confirmed for my class at Laughlin, but I figure they wouldn’t do it for just one class.
-
It looks like for the normal UPT bases they are going towards having BIG CHUNGUS class sizes. My class at Laughlin will have 30 students.
Thats in comparison to my buddies in UPT with like 15-20 in a class.
