  1. BTW, agree with you’re opinion of the Aero App... I wouldn’t want my guys using a second-class platform for SA when there’s so much better capes out there!
  2. If the Jepp charts weren’t on the Aero app would you use it? What’s the point? You guys have talked about wanting a military-specific platform... what do you want?

    AERO app

Yeah, that's the first step in the integration. The next release of Jepp FD Pro will have ForeFlight functions integrated into it. I think the two apps will be blended going forward.

    AERO app

Disclosure up front... I'm a huge Jepp fan. I've played with all of the apps and I have to say the functionality of the Jepp platform is so much more powerful than either. Jepp doesn't stitch .pdf charts. Theirs are seamlessly digitally created on the screen out of the raw data. That's why their charts customize what they show as you zoom in/out and update themselves based on NOTAMs and give you pop-up notes that comes from AP/GP/etc. Their new airfield diagrams actually show areas that are NOTAMed closed...f-ing cool when you're at a busy unfamiliar place. And, Jepp can tie together their other apps/products together so they talk to each other...TOLD performance data, mission info, insert your own charts/info, build your own routes, etc. Damn cool stuff that let's us use the EFB for more than an e-reader! BTW, I heard that Jepp and ForeFlight are coming out with a merged app that blends the best of their platforms and Jepp's global data. That ends the debate. But the chances the big boys will ever let that capability get into the cockpit...
  5. AMC and AFSOC were taking the first steps toward a professional solution getting Jepp FD Pro and Ops Data for their aircrew in 2015. Then they dropped it last month in the interest that the AERO app was "good enough". They took one step forward toward an integrated EFB solution that integrates not just worldwide dynamic digital charts and performance data but the ability to customize it and add our secure content, to going back to a static .pdf e-reader.

Yes, AMC dropped the FD Pro service because the AERO app was "good enough"... YGBSM
  7. That's hilarious! Rumor has it that the NGA is looking at trying really hard to maybe get a real worldwide database for the FMS. Holding my breath...
