  1. ANG pilot here. 180 days is what I got starting August 2020.
  2. Let's say a AFRC unit has a last-minute short fall filling a simulator seat and I live right next to the sim. Can I volunteer to sit seat meat and have the AFRC Sq. cut me a few days? Since it's a sim, I'd like to think the hurdles of approval wouldn't be nearly as high as it would be if they were trying to get me to fill a local training line in an actual A/C, but I'd like to know just how big of a pain in the dick this has the potential to be. I've got an email in with my budget office, but thought I would poll the community. Luckily, I have enough remaining AFTP's to use my own days that would have just been left on the table otherwise (before the end of the fiscal), but I'd love to get a feel for the process in case this ends up popping up again in the future. And yes, my leadership is on board with using my own TP's. Gracias!
  3. Ok thanks for the help. It’s insane that DLA isn’t applicable here. Especially since TMO has taken all 2-ish weeks that they were authorized for HHG shipment. WTF?!? We’re doing our best with the limited items we have with us, but you can only cook so many homemade meals with one pan and all disposable serving-ware.
  4. Just finished UPT and C-130 school. Waiting for my shipment of HHG's back to my home unit right now, in fact. My UTM / finance is saying I do not qualify for DLA moving back to home station because it's considered a "separation PCS." Can anyone chime in on this? Seems insane to deny almost $3k worth of DLA. Moving is effing expensive, especially with a wife, 2 kids and a dog... Just want to make sure I'm asking the right questions and not overlooking anything. Thanks in advance!
  5. You’ll have plenty of time to get spun up on the expectations and requirements. Any info you get from here will likely be outdated given the constant state of flux the UPT syllabi are in. Just gotta make sure all of your required maneuvers are up to MIF by the end of each block of training. The classroom stuff will provide the baseline knowledge, but you’ll need to do a deep-dive into the pubs to be at the expected level of GK (general knowledge). You should at a minimum know all of the parameters for all of the maneuvers from the 11-248 and the known pitch and power settings for the various phases of flight and flight configurations. But again, don’t worry about any of that prior to getting through Phase 0 and Phase 1. You’ll also do a deep dive into the 11-217 and the 11-202 and the 11-2-T6-1. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. And here’s the link to the other thread where a VA loan specialist chimed in: VA Loans https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?share_fid=40012&share_tid=18774&share_pid=477666&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eflyingsquadron%2Ecom%2Fforums%2F&share_type=t&link_source=app Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I guess I’m still not tracking. Will probably do some more research this afternoon. So are there different “tiers” of VA Loan benefits? Here’s my dilemma... my unit provided a DD214, but this is what’s on it: The left half of the page is not jiving with the right column. I’m way outside my element, but I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure I’ve got all this straight. I had a sneaking suspicion that my personnelists may not have done something entirely correctly. And this is all I’m seeing in the VA site for eligibility requirements: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. That’s amazing. I am in the process of getting an ETP to get dislocation allowance twice in the same fiscal year since I PCS’s to Little Rock just after the start of the new fiscal year and will be outta here just before the start of the new fiscal year. Luckily I found in the JTR’s that I absolutely should be eligible for it again. No reason to leave almost $3k on the table because I moved on day “x” vs day “y”. I’m sitting at right over 2 years TIS since commissioning, so even with your example, I don’t think I’ll qualify quite yet. Luckily I’ve been on pretty much continuous orders since OTS graduation (sans one month). I think we’re back to looking for rentals at my home unit. We still own my permanent home of record (renters in it) and used the FHA loan on that. It’s probably good cause our goal is to move back to our home of record as soon as it’s reasonable for me to do so. We’ll probably sign a 1-year lease to live locally to the unit, then once we move back “home” I’ll just have to make the 3.5 hour drive when necessary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Man can you give me your broker’s info? Cause I got the literal exact opposite info! I also posed the question to a VA specific lender here on this forum (may be able to click my profile to see my activity) and he also said training orders, regardless of Title-10, are not used to procure a COE from the VA. After my first 90 days on seasoning, we could revisit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Cooperate to graduate. Don’t be afraid to talk to guys who are already at the flight line. I thought guys/gals who were several classes ahead of me were somehow mystical creatures... then I got there and realized that wasn’t the case. Most will be happy to help manage expectations and let you know what you can do to prepare for your dollar ride. Academics is nothing too cosmic. Stay in the books and make an actual effort to dig into the regs as soon as you start seeing them appear in academics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I’ve got 2 guys in my PIQ class, one going to the Guard, one to the reserves. If you have any specific questions, I can relay them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Jon, Can you provide some clarification on some conflicting info I'm getting from my buddies vs. my broker (who is not a VA loan specialist)? My guard unit provided a DD214 and I have a NGB22 as well. However, when I contacted the VA for a letter of eligibility, they are requesting additional documentation. I was a non-prior service member who is just finishing pilot initial qualification. I just pinned on 1LT, but all of my title 10 days have been training (OTS, IFT, UPT, SERE and PIQ). The VA rep told me on the phone that training does provide eligibility for VA loan, which would make sense if all you did was OTS/BMT, but does 2 years of the pilot training pipeline not count for VA eligibility?!? That seems nuts to me. My other buddies who are going through the same process (also non-prior service) have been told by their brokers that they are squared away with VA eligibility and our path to this point has been identical. For what it's worth, I'm also about to start 180 days of seasoning (Title 10) back at my home unit. Thanks in advance!
  13. Is it possible? I imagine that quite a few units are bottom heavy with everyone bailing to the airlines as soon as they hit ATP mins. I'm worried about getting enough flying time when I get off seasoning days. I imagine local sorties wouldn't make much sense, but I would love to jump on a deployment since I won't be back from PIQ before my unit heads out. Also, under the new "Total Force Office Training" model, can Guard dudes go fly with a Reserve unit or even AD? Thanks!
