  2. I don’t know the voodoo algorithm that is used to calculate PCSM, but I would expect more than a 8 point boost to your current score if you “maxed” out the TBAS. You can only improve your 201+ bracket by 8 points however. Since you earned a 99 AFOQT score, that is not negatively impacting your PCSM score from my understanding. For another data point, I had a 92 PCSM in the 41 hour bracket, 95 in the 61 hour bracket, 97 in the 81 hour bracket, 98 in the 101 hour bracket, and a 99 in the 201+ bracket. With your current PCSM score, it is easy to deduce you did not do too well on the TBAS. Shoot for 99 in the 201+ bracket. There is a lot of great advice on this forum for TBAS preparation. I personally spent about 1.5 months doing 1 hour of prep everyday (pilotaptitudetest psychomotor games w/ joystick and rudder pedals, multitasking games, Lumosity, and mental math games). 4. I suggest you also go onto the AFROTC reddit page regarding these questions, more cadets browse that page and there is a lot of information complied. But, you have a shot. FT hurts, as long as your RSS is top third you will have a good shot. Don’t be afraid to ask your APAS what your wing ranking is, they will at least give you top, middle or bottom third. If you can, get into the next flight hour bracket for the PCSM boost, you still have time before the boards meets. Pilot slots might be slim this year. There is also a speculative rated board calculator on Reddit that you can use to get a rough guesstimate of your overall OM. PM if you have further questions. 5. I suggest using the kongregate multitasking game. It is helpful with selective attention. There are some other great resources that have been posted in other threads, such as simulators.
  6. I can only speak on the AFOQT re-take. I had a 85 Pilot score and 83 PCSM at 41 hours. After I re-took the AFOQT, I had a 99 Pilot score and 94 PCSM at 41 hours. Re-taking the AFOQT is definitely a good idea! I bought a couple of AFOQT study guides and did some online ACT prep.
  7. Here are the averages for the most recent rated board for AFROTC. As always, past results don't guarantee anything. The averages for 2017: PCSM: 60.2 PFA: 97.3 GPA: 3.3 And 446 selected If you are wondering in general, a GPA above 2.0 is what is required. 2.5+ if you are on scholarship. If you would like to be competitive for ICSP (In-College Scholarship Program), shoot for a 3.3 or higher. Being an Engineering Major will help you with receiving an EA (Enrollment Allocation) to attend FT and if you are put up for ICSP. Since Engineering is a technical major, you are put into a different pool than non-tech. After that, your major doesn't matter, just GPA.
  8. I joined AFROTC after completing two years of undergrad (5 year degree). a) Yes and no. The only area that you will need to catch up on is RSS (Relative Standing Score AKA Commanders Ranking). This is your biggest hurdle to overcome. Depending on the size of your detachment, it can be a challenge. Other than that, it does not make you less competitive for a rated slot. The factors for receiving a rated slot are RSS, PFA Scores, GPA, FT Ranking (Field Training Performance), and PCSM. You can have good scores in your PFA, GPA, FT Ranking, and PCSM just by personal preparation. RSS will take some work within the detachment. Overall, joining a year late has little impact on your rated slot chances. b) Be in frequent contact with your APAS. I would suggest meeting with your APAS during the first 2-3 weeks of the semester and ask for their expectations of you during the semester. Then request a mid-semester eval, and final eval. Your APAS is your connection to the Det Commander (improves RSS). Do well and participate often in your Aerospace Studies class. Participation shows your APAS how you think. Actually prepare for LLAB and volunteer for leadership positions. If you really want to prepare, you can read up on the 2018 FTM (Field Training Manual) and the AFI 36-2203 (Drill Manual). You can start to memorize the Warrior Knowledge that is presented in the FTM. I would suggest going on YouTube and find Det 088 Drill videos, those will help you prepare for drill and give you a nice visual reference. PM if you want more advice, happy to help.
  9. Looking for some advice on whether to re-take the AFOQT or not. I just got my PCSM, here are my numbers: PCSM: 83 (41 hours) AFOQT: P85/N86/AA85/Q83/V79 I am an ROTC cadet and will be applying to the rated boards in Jan. When I first took the AFOQT I honestly just winged it and did very little preparation. By the time I apply to the rated boards my PCSM should be 91 (81-100 hour bracket). If I re-take the AFOQT and seriously prepare for the exam, I feel like I could boost my PCSM up into the 96-99 Range at 81 hours with an updated Pilot Section score. My goal/dream is to get into ENJJPT, so a 96-99 PCSM seems like it should be what I am looking for. So, is re-taking the AFOQT worth the gamble for a high PCSM? Or, should I feel comfortable with my 91 PCSM? I have been told to both re-take it and to not, and am searching for some advice from the experts, you guys! Thanks!
