  1. From what I have seen it is a bit of first come first serve, age in some cases, and availability in others (OTS/UPT class date availability). I know my package was pushed through with some priority to it due to my age (I'm now 29). Also, I know my recruiter was emailing their contact at the GB nearly once a week for an update due to the timeline. Your unit can help press getting dates sooner depending on how quickly they need you or for varying circumstances. Long story short, if you have a few years before hitting the age cutoff, expect to wait longer but be prepared for only 2 months notice. You never really know what may happen. Typically if your recruiter has been around awhile, they can give you a decent estimate as to how long it may be.
  2. Guard Prior Interview/ Hired: February 2015 MEPS: February 2016 (Long story there) FC1: August 2016 (Longer one here) Swear In: September 2016 NGB Approval: November 2016 TFOT: January 2017 IFS Exempt UPT Laughlin: April 2017
  3. So I received more bad news today. I submitted the appeal to MEPS where it was again denied, and was told the information made it worse versus better. My biggest worry is they had trouble determining the MEPS eval over the erroneous information. Working to find what it was they thought was "worse". Everything I submitted shows I am within the .50 diopter range needed for a PRK waiver and 20/20 in both eyes confirmed by 3 separate doctors. Should the erroneous information be pulled from the appeal completely? Next up is the Guard Bureau.
  4. Thank you for the reply. The sphere in appt 2 is the same. I was PDQ at MEPS due to the cyclo, so I am unable to have my recruiter schedule the FC I. Not in touch with a flight doc yet, but was thinking the same thing since I will be Guard.
  5. Hi All, Looking for some advice here, as I am absolutely not giving up on this. I had PRK completed back in 2012 and haven't had a single issue since. I received a Guard UPT slot after serving my time in the Marine Corps. I was just informed that I was PDQ'd at MEPS which was a huge shock to both me and my recruiter, and I am aware that PDQ is pretty much a death sentence. Turns out the refraction error they came up with after my outside consultation was +.25 outside the allowable difference from a recent eye exam (in one eye only). This recent exam was a month prior, and unfortunately for me stated both eyes were Plano. Long story short I just found my original eye doctor did not include accurate exam results (refraction) due to such negligible corrections. Sadly I was unaware at the time since he had me labeled as Plano and trusted it was 100% accurate. The auto-refract from that appointment shows a refract in line with what the MEPS consult provided, so I have some proof of a mistake. I have since had 2 more eye exams, ensuring they were at least 2 weeks after the MEPS consult (in accordance to RS waiver guide). One of these being with my original doctor and another with completely different one. Full refraction was completed and again, was within +/-.50 diopters of the MEPS consult. Original Paperwork (problem): Plano Plano MEPS Consult: OD: -.25 +.50 x 90 OS: -.50 +.75 x 90 Recent appt 1: OD: -25 x 180 OS: -50 x 180 Recent appt 2: OD: -.25 + .50 x 90 OS: -.50 + .75 x 90 How can I fight this after what has come up? I am looking for any opinions or thoughts. I am fighter by nature, and I just want the chance to get an FC1 completed. If I DQ there, I DQ. It'd be a shame to be fully qualified and denied the dream and opportunity due to something like this. These last appointments were done in accordance with the RS Waiver Guide from WP other than dilation, and show a stable refraction.
  6. Update on the 2 appointments: Appointment 1: My eye doctor found that my current script is close to what MEPS provided with a -.25 diopter difference in one eye. We have found that the same refraction is listed on the Auto-refract slip from our first appointment, which is the appointment that caused all the issues. Doctor is able and willing to annotate whatever is needed due to the initial error. Appointment 2: The second doctor has provided and found the same refraction as the MEPS consult, and believes I was DQ’d due to a poor effort from the original doctor. He is also willing to help and provide any information to have this reviewed again. As an added note, my refraction is less that 1 diopter in both eyes. OD: -.25x90 OS:-.50x90 These last appointments were done in accordance with the RS Waiver Guide from WP and show a stable refraction.
  7. Hi All, Looking for some advice here, as I am absolutely not giving up on this. I had PRK completed back in 2012 and haven't had a single issue since it was completed. Here is the kicker, I just recently found out the reason my doctor wrote down Plano was due to the fact the refraction was never fully completed due to the "stellar" performance with distance and other tests. He didn't notate it since it was so negligible (+/- .25). But of course that +/-.25 is what would have me moving on to the FC1... Could I have altered the course of this? Yes, I could have. I am kicking myself hard on this one for not asking more questions or raising a red flag. I have already set up 2 more eye appointments to have my vision checked to prove to them its not changing as rapidly as it looked like it was (2.5 weeks since my last exam, 2 different doctors). My recruiter will attempt to resubmit (and plead for mercy) considering the circumstances. If they won't review it, I was told there could be a waiver that can be presented to the Guard Bureau for reconsideration. Is there anything else I can try? Any opinions or thoughts? I am fighter by nature, and I just want the chance to go to Wright-Patterson. If I DQ there, I DQ. It'd be a shame to be fully qualified and denied the dream and opportunity due to something like this.
