So Miami agreed with the ACC to sue both FSU and Clemson? Their president Julio Frenk was present.

    12384183.jpeg

Are they not confident they have a landing spot once the ACC goes the way of the PAC-12? Just happy to live off the revenue that FSU and Clemson bring in?

Super shady stuff going on with the ACC and their "back dated" vote to sue FSU just to have the jurisdiction in North Carolina.

It will be interesting to see how this all falls out, but I think FSU, Clemson, and UNC are out likely for the 2025 season, and no later than the 2026 season.

Maybe then you guys can win your first ACC title. 😉

  2. So Harbaugh is gone. Many rumors that he was asking for protections from any NCAA investigations if he was to stay at Michigan.

Odds that Michigan is the second team to reach 1,000 wins and vacates the National Championship?

Interesting take on Sabans impact on the economic impact on the univ.

football program valued at over $1b

enrollment went from 25k to 40k students.  Huge influx of out of state students.

Man, I feel bad for the Alabama fans or grads who are 30 or younger... Kind of. They've known nothing but winning pretty much their entire lives. Funny how when they got into the CFP Invitational and told FSU fans to get over it. Now they're whining non-stop because their dudes are leaving in droves, and there is no open portal talent to replace them.

Well almost, Miami won out over FSU and signed Cam Ward, 2024 is going to be interesting.  The real trail of tears will be in Tuscaloosa...with Saban gone there is no way DeBoer stops that program from sinking back to mediocrity.

Cam Ward is a playmaker and was definitely our #1 target. I think DJU will perform just fine, especially with all the talent we've added in the last week. Miami probably has more talent than anyone else in the conference, on the field. But your coach has shown that he can't harness that so far. Once again, we'll see but FSU has won the state two years in a row.

I'm not sure Alabama will sink to "mediocrity," but they will return to earth and be in the top 1/3 of SEC instead of #1 or 2 every single year. I probably put them at #4 in the SEC right now behind UGA, Texas, and Ole Miss.

The hits just keep on coming for FSU. Seminole Nation hasn’t been screwed this bad since the Trail of Tears.

We kept our coach... Like I said, zero fucks given.

We've crushed the recruiting portal, I thought '25 would be our year. We'll be a contender again in '24, just like we were this year. I think we'll also be in another conference come '25.

Funny that Michigan cheating for two years and their HC purchasing a product for a recruit didn’t bring any violations to them.

Yet we are penalized because our assistant coach drove a recruit and his parents to meet with someone to discuss an NIL deal.

    Clearly no bias.

Of note, head of NCAA enforcement was former FSU AD who got run out of Tallahassee after his DEI hire who ran our football program into the ground.

No fucks given - Norvell just extended his contract and ‘Bama is about to burn!

  6. Glad to see him leave, for selfish reasons. Probably didn’t like where CFB is headed. Interested to see who replace him, Lanning seems to be the leader. Hope Norvell isn’t a legitimate candidate.

  7. Back to working on and driving my old cars on the weekends. Still interested to see how this portal ends up going.

Wonder if Michigan is going to get to 1,000 wins twice and have to give up that title. Regardless, their ends did a hell of a job getting to Penix and making him look worse than he has all season and completely unlike the Heisman candidate he was.

The use of 'we' is hilarious 🙂 Carry on.

If you've attended and graduated from a university and contribute financially you don't think that puts you in that tribe?

    Small pun intended.

    What in the world?

So if we are gonna play scoreboard, how many Natty's does FSU have?  Miami has finished what they started five times (should have been six except for a pass interference called 6.9 minutes after the play in double overtime against OSU).

My comment about "finishing what you started" was the season, regardless if you win or not.  Your comment seems to define finishing as winning or you have failed, which now I get because it matches the current culture at FSU, instant they are not in the CFP almost 50% of your player quit when the vast majority from UGA decided to finish the season.

My apologies, it's slightly offensive when you question a program's culture, which we've had to rebuild from rock bottom due to a previous DEI hire who was smoking weed with the players and out bangin' college chicks instead of leading his team.

You don't understand why a team who went undefeated no longer wants to participate when they were left out in a historic decision? What happened last weekend? The teams with losses, lost. So results on the field matter, but they didn't for Florida State. I don't fault one of those guys who not playing - I think the entire university should have declined the invitation.

  10. 15 hours ago, ClearedHot said:

Because you finish what you started...ABSOLUTELY a culture problem.  At the first hint of trouble all the key FSU players ran for the door and themselves...that says something about a team.  Meanwhile the vast majority of UGA's players stayed and PLAYED...one of the reasons they won Nattys back to back...FINISH what you started.

Ok... How many ACC Championship's does Miami have? Didn't you start as an ACC team like two decades ago? Have you ever finished what you started since coming to the ACC?

I see what you're saying and agree to a point, but the problem is bigger than FSU.  I still think FSU should have sat out the bowl to highlight how messed up the process was.  Can't blame the kids for sitting out when they got screwed out of a chance at the title.  The NCAA basically said that they don't care what the FSU record was, the school didn't count because it wasn't SEC.  The players got the message.

I think this is a culture problem, but this would happen at almost any school right now in the same situation.  Not a culture problem at FSU specifically (I detest all Florida teams, so this is painful for me to say), but a culture problem in college sports and our society at large.  There is no real commitment anymore.

Between the transfer portal and the ability for a kid to commit to a school only to "de-commit" and go to a different school, the NCAA has built a system that rewards continually shopping around for the best deal regardless of any commitment made.  It is only a sad reflection on the rest of our sad society.

    Concur.

I think it’s only a matter of time when players will opt out of games during the season, as well. Looking at FSU’s schedule ( not a SOS discussion) but why wouldn’t those same players opt out of easy wins like North Alabama, Wake Forest, Syracuse, etc? They could get hurt in those games too.

Also, I’ll bet within the next 5 years we’ll see kids going straight to NFL via some new league until they are done with the 3 year moratorium and never even play college.

Guys will continue to play if they have the opportunity to play for the NC. I guarantee you bowl games will get worse as far as participation next year when the playoff expands to 12 teams.

And why play? Because as we've seen, results on the field during the regular season actually do matter despite what the talking heads at espn would like everyone to think.

Looks like the committee got it right with FSU.

42% of the team, 35 of the 85 players did not play in the game. It wasn't the third string players sitting out... Two of Georgia's players sat out. That game had absolutely no bearing on the level of talent that FSU or Georgia had.

Some people say it is a culture problem, I don't see that. I think Mike Norvell has a great culture going on right now at Florida State. Why would players want to play a game that doesn't matter? And then risk getting hurt for no reason at all?

They are suing to avoid the $130M exit fee.  Very short-sighted in my opinion, will damage their basketball team and other sports.

We have to move. We won't be able to compete with schools in the B1G and SEC who have marketing deals that pay them twice as much. The judge who has been assigned to the court case is an FSU grad for his bachelor's and law degree.

No other sports bring in money, only football does. If our football team can't compete because we are in the ACC, then the other sports will suffer as well.

I hope we go to the B1G. I despise ESPN and their affiliation with the SEC.

  13. National Signing Day today.

Man how things have changed with NIL. I think FSU falls out of the top 3 and land around number 6 and KJ Bolden probably flips to UGA.

I hear that Jeremiah Smith is making 7 figures for OSU after signing with them as the #1 player in the nation.

Yeah, the Seminoles are "boycotting" the Orange Bowl because they know Georgia will prove why they don't deserve to be in the national championship playoffs.

Didn't Napier just lose half of his first recruiting class to the portal? I like where things are headed in Gainesville.

  15. ESPN announced that College Gameday will be in Ireland for FSU v GT beginning of next year. I cannot wait to see the signs.

FSU fans absolutely despise ESPN and specifically, Kirk Herbstreit, after their campaign against Florida State in order to validate an SEC team getting into the playoffs.

I actually think my family is going to go. Can't wait to hear "F*CK KIRK HERBSTREIT" by thousands.

NIL, the Portal and the CFB have basically ruined the game.

It certainly has changed. It is a huge balancing game between bringing in talent for one or two years and potentially scaring off talent you recruit from High School and hope to build and retain. I was quite surprised at how many QBs went to the portal and wouldn't be surprised if FSU makes a play for one.

I'd say the move to two super conferences has also caused some pretty significant issues that have only recently (Sunday) started to really show where the sport might be headed.

It is a shame that it appears that this sport is only about money and is turning into NFL-lite. But maybe I'm part of the problem because I'm willing to contribute to our collective to keep us relevant.

  17. And even if I didn't believe we would be competitive, why play the game if the results don't matter? If you have a 20 or 40% shot at winning, you play. Hell if you have a 10% shot wouldn't you take that?

But yes, I believe we'd have a minimum 33% chance of beating any team who is in the playoff, with our backup QB.

  18. 15 hours ago, Sua Sponte said:

They sure did, then got boat raced by Georgia. I’m not saying it’s right, because it’s not, but do you believe if FSU made it to the natty, they’d be competitive against any of the other three teams?

    Yes, I do.

Tate would have been back - He was 20/27 for 247 yards if I recall in the game he played. Our defense has had 38 offensive possessions played against them since Jordan Travis went down, a single TD was scored, and that was due to a false penalty that is now being used to train CF referees on what not to call.

Washington has struggled with teams most of the season. Alabama got beat at home by two scores and barely beat USF and an Auburn team who got beat by New Mexico State. Texas has also looked suspect and lost to a slightly above average OU.

So yes. I do. Our defense has been lights out.
