As long as the cadets just have a bunch of minority trannies and pedophilia (sorry, I mean minor-attracted) shit on their page, maybe a 69 colors/shapes flag, and perhaps a shared link to Biff’s website selling unicorn fart-powered dildos, it’ll be smooth sailing and not a leadership eyebrow will be raised. Unless they’re a white male, then they’re fucked no matter what they do. So, who’s up for USAFA!?

I think the age of the ring knockers is mostly dead...diminished for sure.

I think I view it more as a stepping stone, he thinks the things they do are cool and he is flattered they reached out to him.  He is a good athlete but is a nerd at heart.  He was selected for the Experimental Science Robotics Team which placed second in the nation last year.  FWIW I view MIT (and Stanford), as better than Ivy in the science and engineering world and I think most others do as well.  Interestingly he got an email from Dartmouth today.

If you're still in NWF and he's into robotics, I'd recommend touching base with the good folks at IHMC in P-cola.  They have a few internship opportunities for high schoolers that would help smooth his path.  Also, they're an amazing group of nerds to work with and have an awesome lab.

Something, something, SOF truths about quality over quantity and mass production of SOF

    Some choice excerpts:
"Bauernfeind told Air Force Times that several other types of skills, like airdrops, aerial refueling and low-level flight, could become part of unit training rather than the initial pipeline. He said the standards used to decide whether airmen should move on in training will change accordingly."

"It’s trying to fast-track special operations flight school by sending students straight to AFSOC training units after they earn their wings on the T-6 Texan II. That cuts out the intermediate phase of flying the T-1 Jayhawk, which is heading into retirement after serving as the stepping stone to mobility and special operations aircraft.

That decision can shorten pilot training time by six months, AFSOC spokesperson Lt. Col. Becky Heyse said."

    A few more interesting tidbits:

"Going forward, Bauernfeind wants to use the first four years differently.  As he sees it, airmen would spend up to two years in initial qualification training before reaching their special ops squadron. Once there, they’d get up to 18 months of training time to learn more about their mission and the special operations culture before deploying."

"Other tweaks, like dropping a requirement that students learn a particular type of landing that has never been used in combat, are streamlining the C-130 syllabus as well. And adding more simulators and virtual reality software can free up aircraft to fly combat missions instead of being tied up in training at home."

    Happy Independence Day.

Signing of the United States Declaration of Independence - Wikipedia

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/07/03/white-house-substance-secret-service/

"The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a suspicious substance that prompted a brief evacuation when it was found Sunday evening inside the White House, according to law enforcement authorities.

In a preliminary test, the substance, a white powder, indicated positive for cocaine, according to an official familiar with the investigation and the recording of a dispatch from a D.C. fire crew that responded to the incident.

The discovery prompted an elevated security alert and a brief evacuation of the executive mansion, Guglielmi said. He said President Biden was not in the White House at the time. Guglielmi said there is “an investigation into the cause and manner” of how the substance entered the White House."

I blame Trump.  He would be impeached for this if it happened while he was in office.  He probably will still be impeached for it anyway.  /s

I will say that my religion is the lens through which I view the world. Everyone operates under a presuppositional paradigm, whether it's scientism, ultranationality, hedonism, nihilism, etc. There is no such thing as a neutral starting point. For me, it absolutely is a religious reason. The idea that evil people do evil things in an organized manner that isn't necessarily pragmatic makes zero sense outside of a religious paradigm. My philosophical disagreement with mandated experimental gene therapy, no matter how supposedly justified it is, is rooted in the anti-secularist and anti-transhumanist theology of my Church.

Many good people sacrificed their lives for you to enjoy the freedom of your incoherent and confused narrative.  These included many young conservative Christian men, whom you do not have the privilege to bin into your narrow perspective.  Those young conservative Christian men had, and still have, a valued place in military aviation.  These Christians lock arms with believers and nonbelievers alike to defend the rights of people who believe like them, along with academic bloviates who shout arrogance only rivaled by their ignorance from the sidelines.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Jim Downey...  What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'm in the process of retiring by May.  I've had a waiver dragging for over a year now as a result of miscommunication between flight med and mental health.  Initially I wanted to get back into the seat but I don't see the point anymore.  By the time I actually get the waiver, requal, etc.. I'll be doing skillsbridge.  However, I didn't want to close any doors in the case that something came up.

However, if I request a waiver and get a waiver does that potentially lower the amount of VA disability I might get?

For your reading pleasure.  Here's the best knowledge base I've found.  https://www.reddit.com/r/VeteransBenefits/wiki/index/

Pursuit of your waiver just more fully documents your symptoms.  DoD and VA are totally different entities and look at your medical conditions through different lenses.  Keep going to doctor's appointments.  Keep seeking care.  Keep documenting symptoms.

File with the VA 90-180 days (closer to 180 is better) before your date of separation, and include all the conditions that you're suffering from.

Just a comment...  and maybe not directly related.  But something to consider anyways.

I got to know a whole bunch of pilots from all Services over the years, many of them at the Reno Air Races.  We formed group that chats online.  The bulk are Navy pilots; there's a lot of Marines too; and only a few of us from the AF.

Last week, the discussion centered around some health issues.  Nearly every one of the single-seat pilots that had served 20 years said that they are in varying levels of constant pain, due mainly to spinal or neck issues.  Some of the stories are eye-opening.  This matches my experience.  I've got about 7,000 hours in ejection seats, and 4,000 of that is in the T-38A with a 35 lbs parachute on my back.  My neck issues will be with me for life and they suck.  I'm back to the spinal surgeon in 2 months for another procedure.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks here on BO.net with similar experiences.

Flying ejection seat aircraft is great.  But realize the toll it will likely take on your body if you elect to stay with it for a long time.  And for crying out loud, don't do stupid shit in flight training that will get you injured.  It was never something I considered, especially when I was younger.

The challenge of avoiding stupidity in training is ignorance.  You don’t know how stupid you are until you become experienced enough to realize how stupid you were.  Thinking back on UPT, it’s terrifying.  I have incredible respect for the instructors who face the potential demise of ignorant stupidity each day, and face it with a smile.

  8. I’ve known a few mobility pilots and one AFSOC pilot who crossed to fighters.  Without exception, they all did T38s and the ones from my own UPT class that crossed were near the top of our class (very few fighter drops when I went to UPT).

You are already flying T1s.  Fighters are not your future.  Do your job.   Do it well.  Your good deal opportunities will come from a combination of:

    1.  Luck

    2. Timing

    3. Sponsorship

    4. Relationships

    5.  Reputation

    6. Skill

Often, but not always, in that order.

Would it increase my chances of switching over to a fighter if I dropped a special operations aircraft or an aircraft in Air Combat Command like the EC-130 which is switching to the E-37 soon

No.  Pick those planes because you want to fly those missions.  I can't speak to ACC, but if you pick AFSOC you are picking AFSOC.

Fair amount of close calls, To say nothing of all the funerals of direct co-workers(2), and students (2) in the last 6 years than I care to share on this message board.

You’re not wrong.  UPT is a dangerous business.  Closest I came to death was my T38 initial form solo.   We were nose high, in a turn, and slow in fingertip.  Lead kicked me out to fighting wing.  I had no SA on my airspeed, pulled the throttles slightly and stalled, falling straight toward his vertical stab.  I had no idea how close we had come until we pulled the tapes.

Air Force colonel who called suicide a ‘chickensh-t way to go’ has been nominated to become a 1-star

The Air Force has given nothing but lip service to removing toxic leaders.  Nothing but fake interest in the well being of Airmen.  Funny how they quickly rolled out testimony from others who said he is a great guy and not toxic.  His statement revealed his true character and I am glad I am no longer in a service that promotes sycophants like this clown.

    Nothing surprises me anymore.
