  1. Thank you so much for the information. In the unlikely event, then, that I get an offer for Magnolia or State- which one would you pick? I'm looking at the housing website and it mentions: Capital, Magnolia, and State. Any chance that they changed the name from Audobon Cove to one of those so I know which to avoid? Thanks for your help!
  2. I tried searching for this topic and cannot find any recent gauge and I'm filling out housing applications and was just curious which neighborhood is best (no kids, just the husband and myself). Thanks!
  3. I have but it was a quick glance to see the class dates, I'll go back to get more specific information- thank you! Do you by chance know of any gauge that goes beyond the standard lists by chance? I just went there, and thank you thank you thank you! That's perfect!
  4. I'm Air National Guard and was gearing up for AMS but I'm now scheduled for OTS 20 May 2014. No one in my unit has been to OTS recently and I have no gauge on it from a recent standpoint. Has anyone recently graduated who like to share some information to a non prior. Are there a lot of non priors? What should a non prior to do prepare? I heard it was divided into 2 sections, for what reason? What was the hardest aspect for you? What would you recommend to bring beyond what's required? What would you have done differently while you were there?
  5. I have been preparing for AMS but was told today to expediate me through, they're sending me to OTS. The OTS forum has very little recent information. Does anyone have any information on OTS or who I can contact to get more information on OTS? Thanks in advance!
  6. Do you by chance know the dates for August? I haven't seen them posted with the fiscal year.
  7. I could be wrong in regards to what he means by "sphere test" but for what it's worth: The eye exam changed from when I went to MEPS and then Wright Pat for FC1. At MEPS they had a book and each page had a circle that had a number or a letter in it and you had to identify it for your color test. When I went to Wright Pat, recently, they had a computer instead. The computer test is timed and you have to identify numbers of various colors numerous times that begin to fade over the course of the test. Hope that helps.
  8. Getting hired off the streets is a challenge but it really depends on the unit. Every unit seems to have different preferences for what they want. Some units will only hire priors as they believe it will ensure success- but I would argue that the number of units that do this are very limited. With that said, I've rushed 6 different units when I was looking to get hired and here's what I was told they were looking for *Good AFOQT scores / PCSM scores *Prior aviation experience *Good person to be around (all units want this- because if you're upset at a coworker at an office you can walk away- the space to do this in an aircraft is much more limited and throwing people off the aircraft is usually frowned upon). Since all units are extremely interested in what kind of person you are- I would say he needs to make connections and go talk to the units he's interested in. From there, they'll let him know what they want in particular. Good luck, it's kind of you to help family out!
