  1. I'd say upper management fits that definition perfectly, "cannot distinguish fantasy from reality." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. That's because the FTU is cranking out RPA pilots like mad. Our manning right now is as healthy as it has ever been on the pilot side. Alpha tour guys are being let go back to their MWS. We'll see over the next year when the 18Xers start hitting the end of their commitment how many stay. I know of 2 who took the bonus and one of those was prior rated. 3. True, but my lack of ADSC will also shortly be followed by the setting of a separation date. I would only consider a one year bonus if it was $50k Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Agreed, but still very vulnerable to a non-flying 179 which would eat up most of that year and not give much additional flight time to increase competitiveness for the majors. As stated above, your SURF will show your bonus ADSC and thus advertise your level of commitment to upper management. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. If dudes are transferring GI Bill and winding up with an ADSC that extends beyond UPT, you're doing it wrong. If you have kids, you should submit the transfer the day you hit 6 years in. I still don't see a compelling reason to stay, even with the new bonus. We are paid less relative to inflation than guys doing this job 15 years ago and the new bonus doesn't even correct that for 11Ms. No thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I wonder if upper management realizes that almost any new "policy" they dream up to help retain people will be instantly discounted due to their lack of integrity in past dealings. I think it will probably be close to a decade (only with improved treatment and showing they can actually do what they say) before any of these policies positively affect retention. They require 24 months TOS upon re-deployment and then 36 prior to PCS, sounds like a back door way to get an extra year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Someone tell me how Mission Support and Non-Rated Ops without IDE complete were promoted at significantly higher rates. I would think those who aren't on the road 200 days a year would have less of an excuse to get PME done and should be punished on the promotion board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If you put your CAC and pin in, it wasn't anonymous. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I don't buy it. You're telling me that all of the times we operated under a CR that we didn't have a bonus program? Check out the list of CRs, I find it hard to believe we didn't have bonus programs during past CRs. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuing_resolution
  10. Maybe if they'd actually get off their asses and offer a bonus program, this thread could stay on topic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I'll second that. I'm to the point of probably 7 day opting my Return to Fly assignment from RPAs because they are taking too damn long to get me out of here. I'd rather have to fly for a regional than extend my commitment at this point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I think he's talking about the boldface that was along the lines of "Canopy - Open, Toward Trailing Edge - Jump." I never flew it, but heard about their bailout boldface from squadron bros. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. This article has a good comparison to the previous administration. The lawlessness of the past 8 years (referenced by the scandals above) has set precedents, but apparently serious oversight only goes one way in our two party system. While I think there is a difference between Obama's public statements about Clinton and the private conversation between Trump and Comi, the parallels are unmistakable. How did Obama's justice system rubber stamp his ridiculous behavior for 8 years, and Trump's is out to get him just 4 months in? http://amp.nationalreview.com/article/447710/donald-trump-obstruction-justice-james-comey-russia Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. There is a reason why the AF calls them RPAs instead of UAVs. We couldn't even figure out how to have a pilot control multiple Predators, I don't think having a single pilot control multiple airliners will happen anytime soon. However, the profit motive is a powerful force and when it is private enterprise driving the innovation it could be developed at a much faster pace. I just hope it's after I hit 65. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Don't worry, the AF will buy 300. Except they'll demand it have a UARSI and 1,000 other features and it will wind up costing $30M+ a piece. Then they'll make it fly 14 hour missions with AR support to waste even more money. It's what they do best. I mean, these are the same people who think we can afford an actual flying hour program of any consequence with an eventual 1,700 F-35s at $40k per hour. They don't know how to do cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. They sure as hell follow that 4 year TOS minimum when you get sent to RPA purgatory. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. So a STRD in 2008 should keep me relatively safe for the next few years? I'm resigned to the fact that I will eat a 179, but I'm hoping to have the 3 day option for a possible 365. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Does anyone know what STRD years are being tagged with non-vol 365s? Or are these 180s the result of them cutting the year long deployments in half? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. 1508 hours, I'd love to be that guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. We had several return to active duty Lt Cols in my old squadron. They all kept their line numbers. I was just a dumb Lt at the time, so I have no idea what program they returned under. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Stripes is saying the MP eventually graduated and is now flying U-2s, is that true? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I'm going to be PCSing later this year and will hopefully wind up somewhere a little more rural than Las Vegas. Does anyone have any information on VA construction loans? If we can't find an existing home to suit us, we might look at buying a little bit of land and building a home if possible. From what I've read it seems you usually have to use a local lender or builder to finance the build prior to VA mortgage funding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Agreed, it seems he just likes to poke the hornets nest. I'm willing to bet he is a nobody, and referring to Grosso as "Gina" was also a giveaway. Did anyone see that video on FB of Everhart asking AMC airmen for inputs on how to fix the pilot manning? The serious lack of real leadership is almost comical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Wait, aren't we having a pilot shortage? If you can't get enough bodies to fill cockpits, I'm guessing you will be short of finding enough for your "many slots to fill." First thing I did was delete the e-mail, and I haven't taken the DLAB specifically because of that program. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. However, the last COS began screaming about manpower issues mid 2015, less than 6 months after VSPers separated on 31 Dec 2014 which all happened on his watch. What a disappointment he was. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
