  1. Didn’t we lose or damage an F-22 because of TOLD? Story I remember is they were using numbers for sea level when it was actually in a high PA environment. Something like that.
  2. Choke the mission planner or DIRMOBFOR?
  3. You might be able to fly with other units. I have friends who did that in similar circumstances
  4. It was known from day one by anyone with a functioning brain. Sadly, that is less than 49% of our country.
  5. It’s been a while since I’ve been to either museum.. but I recall a depth vs breadth contrast between the two.
  6. If you’re under the new retirement system.. this is bad advice. If you front load your TSP, you lose out on some of the government match (5% max) in the remaining months of the year. To maximize dollars, you need to make plan out what you’ll make during the year and set a consistent percentage that allows you to hit the max during the final month of the year. OR, front load, like described above, but ensure you can contribute 5% yourself for all remaining months of the year.
  7. Be disciplined. If your plan is to make 1.6% for a few years, do that. I think TBills are paying around 5.5% if you’re worried about touching the money early.
  8. It needs to be interesting to you. I wanted to learn this stuff. Take notes as you read with one and paper, even if you never reference them, writing something down physically helps me remember. Also flash cards. And use your classmates, make study guides together.
  9. Traditional or Roth IRA. After tax 401k.
  10. 2024 President elect Trump in a GA prison would make for a fantastic reality tv season
  11. Spent 3.5 years in Germany as a young Lt/Capt with a dog, wife, no kids. We traveled all over Europe by car—made for some pretty cool experiences we would’ve missed without him (lab/put mix). Stuff like exploring historic parks in cities to get him a morning walk or hikes in random towns. Restaurants were mostly very dog friendly. Occasionally left him with a great German dog lady when we travelled by air. Zero regrets bringing our dog to Europe.
  12. Other than you.. who has made this assertion?
  13. Wtf https://www.foxnews.com/media/uk-court-rules-teen-rare-disorder-incapable-making-decisions-care-begging-live 19 yr old girl in UK is unable to pursue medical treatment she desires because UK court and her doctors think her death is inevitable/imminent. How the is this tolerated over there? And the gag order the hospital imposed on the family.. am I missing something obvious?
  14. Because it is a way to show you are “doing” something about an issue..
  15. False. California requires vaccines for kids to attend school (public or private). The only way to avoid a vaccine is home school. While not an issue or applicable to my family, I’d say there are a lot of dual-income required to live in CA families who have to send their kids to school, therefore, it’s effectively mandated for them. https://eziz.org/assets/docs/shotsforschool/PBEFAQs.pdf Thats a direct link from the CA Department of Public Health website: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/Immunization/School/laws-exemptions.aspx#
  16. You say that.. but I actually think Little Rock is a hidden gem. Is it awesome for a single Lt.. probably not, but someone with a family, you’d be surprised by how much there is to do there
  17. Sucks that it happened to you, but you’ll be alright. I have a good friend who washed out Viper b course years ago, he maintained the tactical mindset and brought it with him to the Herk. He was/is a standout aviator and dude, he’s done well for himself in his career as well.
  18. The $500 is for travel only, airfare. Mileage, etc. can’t be used for hotels or a rental. My reserve unit always covered the hotel, whether I was on AT or IDT. My guard unit does not appear to do so.. from what I understand, they will cover AT and UTA, but not AFTP or RUTAs. I’m still new though.
  19. The $500 reimbursement thing is a Reserves deal, not offered by any ANGs to my knowledge. Which sucks, would be real nice if the ANG had it. It’s for any IDT travel. I think it’s up to 12x $500 trips a year, not necessarily limited to once a month.
  20. They don’t need to afford it, that’s the taxpayers job
  21. I found the HR Block software very difficult to input the back door Roth (along with reservist expenses). TaxAct is much simpler.
  22. I’ve been buying short terms bonds on treasury direct. Any reason to choose a CD over the treasury bills?
  23. I wish Tesla would put out an update with some sort of twitter logo on the screen at start up..
  24. It’s sad, it looks like the story board for some broadway play.. patient’s relative crying in the foreground while the frontline first responders do a musical dance routine in the background.
