  1. I did the job fair circuit a couple times. Had a few follow up interviews and 2 that headed down the path for job offers but weren't the right fit from my side. If you are in the correct age group for the Deloitte Core Leadership Program I'd highly recommend commend applying. Day Man is right, your best bet is to network with people in the companies you are interested in and work internal recommendations. That's how I found my position at a defense contractor. A good book on this approach is the 2-hour job search by Steve Dalton. Feel free to PM me also if you've got other questions.
  2. If anyone needs to be thrown a bone it's Boeing.
  3. I filled out a request when I got my retirement orders. About a month prior to my retirement date they started asking if I had any corrections. 2 weeks prior I had the draft one and within 24 hours after the retirement date I had the final approved one.
  4. There is no flight control check after EROs in the J model. It is only accomplished on initial take off or after you've shut engines down and have a subsequent take off.
  5. If the flight doc isn't qualified to, or no other docs in your clinic or flight medicine aren't qualified to give FAA medicals, it has been my experience that they know nothing or next to nothing about the topic. Why spend the money with them when if you are a DSG flying for the airlines you need a class 1 anyways or you get an equivalent class 3 by just having your medical? Class 2 does almost nothing for people doing what we are doing. You don't even need a class 2 to civilian flight instruct so why bother with spending extra money for it? I i threw out this path as an option because it is free and the OP wasn't asking about getting a FC1 for the airlines.
  6. Ask the flight doc. One of ours is an AME and can do class 2 & 3s.
  7. I believe it needs to be over 100 miles to qualify for reimbursement.
  8. You need to have a dependent in DEERS to transfer benefits. So it doesn't seem likely.

I'd recommend going to http://www.pebforum.com. You may find some similar cases of people that have gone through the MEB process. It's had some beneficial information for me. Even if it is what questions do I need to be asking. Good luck.
  10. A memorial will be held today (8 Oct) at 1400 central time in Abilene and live streamed by the local news station. http://m.ktxs.com/
  11. Agree with Learjetter, I've been allergic to penicillin for 29 years (8+ in the AF) never an issue with the AF in general or my flight physical and I'm not aware of any waiver in my file for it. Your other option may be to have the doctor approve a ground trial of the drug now. Disclaimers: I'm no medical expert and you should obviously see one prior to that choice. I've been offered a trial and have refused every time because I don't see the gain.

    VA Claims

50% is the magic number to receive concurrent payments from both the VA and a military retirement. Anything under 50% both sides pay but the amount paid by the VA (tax free) is subtracted from the retirement. No doubt there are improvements to be made to the system and some level of fraud is likely to occur. Maybe the cost of catching everything means that some things slip through. Once I'm through the process and see how the exams turn into ratings I'll have a more informed opinion or I may be just as clueless as I am now. Either way, I'm being examined for all the conditions that I feel are service related and I'll let them approve or deny.

    VA Claims

Thanks. I spoke with my VA rep before completing the paperwork and both him and my PEBLO said don't check that box. Everything is supposed to be more clear once the ratings come back and we can see what the pay outs could be. It wouldn't be so confusing if not for the double negative.

    VA Claims

I'm going through an MEB/IPEB and am filling out paperwork for my VA claim. Is there any reason to select the box stating "No I do not want VA compensation in lieu of military retired pay"? As i read it if I have less than 50% disability (not sure of that is via the AF or VA) all I am doing is reducing my taxable retired income by the amount the VA pays where as if it is over 50% I would receive both.
