  1. What's so bad about McGuire and Dover? The location itself or leadership? Beats the crap out of Dyess/ Pope/ Little Rock IMHO, not to mention a number of other CONUS bases.
  2. Does that horse in the second one have 8 legs?

  4. North O is where the hip-hop scene is. Unless, of course, you're into the suburban white boy hip hop scene, in which case you'll want to live out in Millard.
  5. Where are you located? Sounds like there's still some leadership out there with a bit of common sense.

  7. Small jet with two aboard crashes at Lubbock airport Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Thursday, May 22, 2008 Story last updated at 5/22/2008 - 2:10 am A U.S. Air Force plane crashed just north of the Lubbock airport Wednesday night. The small twin-engine jet appeared to be on final approach to Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport when it crashed just outside the airport fence at 9:49 p.m., said James Loomis, the airport's director. Two people were on board. No critical injuries were reported. Loomis couldn't say Wednesday night if weather caused the plane to crash. "The Air Force will conduct its investigation," he said, adding the crash would not affect airport operations. Winds reaching speeds up to 71 mph moved through the South Plains on Wednesday night, causing minor damage. "Every year we get some of these types of events," said Gary Skwira, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lubbock. "They still produce some pretty good wind and cause damage." Crews closed Avenue A between 45th and 50th streets due to a downed power line. Winds knocked down several trees and blew off the roof of a car wash on South University Avenue.

  9. Now you can wear ABUs on commercial flights Staff report Posted : Thursday Apr 3, 2008 17:35:39 EDT Airmen are finally cleared to wear the Airman Battle Uniform while flying commercially in the continental U.S. Though airmen are still encouraged to wear blue service uniforms when crisscrossing the country on official business, they can now don the tiger-stripe Airman Battle Uniform, first widely distributed last year, without breaking regulation. Wearing the discontinued but still ubiquitous Battle Dress Uniform, or the desert camouflage when appropriate, is also permissible. Wearing flight suits is not. Generally, airmen on business can wear civilian clothes as well, though commanders have the authority to restrict this privilege.

  11. Check out Toncontin International in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
  12. Do the Brits not have hair cut regs?
  13. Tell that to the SNCOs during combined ops at ASBC... you wouldn't believe how awesome it is to watch a group of people have an anyeurism over it.
  14. Legendary site on the world wide net. For some reason the Big Pimpin MIDI won't work though.... hope he didn't get rid of it.
  15. myspace pics are usually misleading.... but i'd def put her in the hot category.
  16. There's a guy from my OTS class at Columbus who is donating a kidney or already donated one... either way I don't think he's totally DQ'd for it, I believe he had his class date moved back about 6 months or something. So it's possible.
  17. Did a search, couldn't find anything on this topic. Anyone know of a good place to obtain a control stick? The idea is to make it into a tap handle for our kegerator. Saw one from a MiG-21 and F-4 on ebay, just curious if there was a surplus store somewhere on the net worth checking into.
  18. Can the mods create a separate pinned post that lists only the useful regs and such... it would be helpful to have a reg-only thread rather than have to sift through this thread, which has turned into more of a justification of having a thread. Not that this thread is bad or anything, just to make the info more easily accessible.
  19. Thanks for the advice M2 and pawnman. I'll def be writing up a lease and whatnot... and no, I wouldn't hold anyone against the lease for a legit military reason, or any reason I guess as long as I had enough notification in advance. My buddy doesn't want to have to sign the lease, keeps claiming that he's good for it. I know he is, but still... you never know. Just interested in suggestions from people who have BTDT.... didn't know about the capital gains tax stuff, I'll be sure to look into it.
  20. I just bought a house in lovely (puke) Del Rio. I'm gonna rent out two of the rooms to some buds of mine who will be going through UPT at more or less the same time. I'm just looking for advice from any people that have done similar things before- Did you have them sign a lease, or just trust them to make payments/ stick to their word? Do I need to involve the base housing people or legal? What happens if I have them sign a formal lease and then one decides to go helos and needs to get out of it? Obviously no problemo from my point of view, but am I opening up a world of hurt from a legal perspective? Any and all advice is appreciated.
  21. You can do pretty much anything... but it might help you boost your package so to speak if you do something different than the norm. I went to the shithole slums outside Tegucigalpa, Honduras and built houses for the poor. I did that before I even thought about applying to the Air Force, more for the excuse to have a cheap trip to a country I had never been to than anything else. Lots of people have been impressed with it... they think it was a miserable trip when it was really a total blast. Just find something you enjoy and the rest will fall in place.
  22. Pirates 3 sucked. Don't bother. Couple of questions: I'm assuming you wear flight suits while flying. Do you have to get them issued at your previous base or do they issue them there? What about getting rank and such sewed on? Also, what's the typical background of an IFS instructor- prior AF, civilian, hours, etc? Thanks for doing this blog man.
  23. I highly doubt that any basic blood test would detect your condition. So I doubt they'd even find out about it unless you told a flight doc. So don't tell a flight doc.
  24. Slightly related... if one has surgery or something from a civilian doc and they do not disclose it to flight medicine, and later flight med finds out... what happens?
  25. On the topic of MBAs....how hard is it for an active duty pilot to get one from a "real" school? Do you have to go the correspondence route, or is it possible/better to take a "sabbatical" of sorts and get one from say Harvard? Would taking that time off be looked down upon by your squadron? Is it best to simply wait until you get an assignment near a legit school (like dmeg130 at UA)?
