Now showing in January "At the Matinee" at Zeno's Drive-In Free admission! http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com/MATINEE.html The Last Bomb Restored NEW B-29s & P-51s Attack Japan with complete digital image restoration! "The Last Bomb" vividly documents one of the almost forgotten chapters of World War II: the long range B-29 Superfortress bombing raids on Japan. I've done a scene by scene restoration of this classic film. Launched from hard won Pacific islands, these missions were over 3,000 miles round trip and could take 12 hours or more to complete. As an added bonus, there's plenty of spectacular gun camera footage taken by escorting P-51 Mustangs ranging over southern Japan seeking targets of opportunity in the air and on the deck * M10 Tank Destroyer NEW The M10 Tank Destroyer was the US Army's advanced successor to the half track based T12/M3 and saw action on all fronts in World War 2. Based on a M4 Sherman Tank chassis, it mounted a high velocity 3' (75mm) gun. It featured an open topped turret and with a top speed of 32 mph, was designed for the Army's "shoot & scoot" anti-tank tactics, not for slugging it out toe to toe with enemy heavy armor * German World War 2 Newsreels King Tigers, Winter War, FW 190s & more Highlights include: JU-87 Stukas attack Warsaw, 3rd Panzer Army's Winter defense of Vitebsk, FW 190 dive bombers operate on the Eastern Front, Marder one man torpedo craft, 15th Panzer Grenadier (including Mark V Panther tanks) counter attacks the Americans at Luneville, Panzerkamphwagen VI "Tiger IIs" and much more. \ http://zenoswarbirdvideos.com/Images/RonGetsZekesmaller.jpgIMG] * Recognition of The Japanese Zero Fighter Lieutenant Jimmy Saunders (Ronald Reagan) learns how to tell a US P-40 from a Japanese A6M Zero fighter the hard way. (That's a very angry Craig Stevens aka "Peter Gunn" on the receiving end.) Contains plenty of interesting info about what US pilots were told about Japan's most produced and feared fighter and how to spot it. Includes rare footage of a captured Zero doing spectacular aerobatics.) * Huey in a Helicopter War in Vietnam This film was produced by Bell Aircraft to show the essential part played of their "Huey" UH-1 Iroquois Helicopter in nine different of rolls, including recon & fire direction, transport & supply, a variety of assault gunships configurations and medical evacuations. The film uses dramatic combat footage to illustrate the theory, tactics and practice of Huey operations, including from the cockpit views of airborne assaults and the establish and development of LZ's in Vietnam. Attack! The Battle for New Britain Stage two of the isolation and reduction of the Japanese fortress of Rabaul was the seizure of key bases at the opposite (Western) end of the 370-mile long island of New Britain, cutting enemy supply lines and providing advance airfields for continuing attacks on the stronghold. You'll see all aspects of the invasion, including planning, training, air attacks, amphibious assaults, and the intense jungle fighting to secure objectives. And there's more of those exciting low level B-25 strikes! * John Huston's Report from the Aleutians Starting on June 3, 1942, 6 months after Pearl Harbor, a small Japanese force occupied US territory on the Alaskan islands of Attu and Kiska in the Aleutian chain. It took US Forces a year to dislodge them under harsh arctic conditions. Rare early war color footage includes P-39 Airacobras, the first operational deployment of P-38E Lightning fighters, B-25 Mitchells, Navy PBYs and some of the first missions flown by B-24 Liberator bombers by US forces. * John Ford's "Under Cover" How to operate behind enemy lines This is the first film ever made on how to be a spy in enemy territory produced by a secret intelligence service to train their own agents. And it's not everyday I discover a virtually unknown feature film by an Oscar Winning director, let alone one that contains his only speaking role in a talking picture. Hollywood legend John Ford directed this training film during World War 2 on the art of espionage for the O.S.S (Office of Strategic Services, forerunner of the C.I.A) and plays a cameo role as a secret intelligence officer. We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. Now showing in December "At the Matinee" at Zeno's Drive-In Free admission! http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com/MATINEE.html * What to do when your Sherman tank gets stuck in the mud & other "Field Expedients." NEW! This film is an entertaining treasure trove of down & dirty inside info on how U.S. tanks and other tracked vehicles were kept rolling & overcame a multitude of obstacles in the field during World War 2. '"Field Expedients" were "Anything you can think of to keep your vehicle rolling." In other words, this film is a show case of good 'ol American know how solving problems in novel and innovative ways. * Back Door Gang P-38s. in Color Exclusive Documentary! Recently discovered color film of the 430th FS, 474th FG, 9th Air Force in action. From the get go, the 474th was configured as a ground attack unit, but they also provided bomber escort and level bombing, led by Norden bomb sight equipped "Droop Snoots," which are shown here. One of three P-38 squadrons in the 474th, the 430th's call sign was "Back Door," and its planes and pilots are featured in the film in the Spring of 1945 at their base in Florennes, Belgium, a former Luftwaffe night fighter base * Acrobatics for World War 2 Fighter Pilots. This Army Air Corps training film covers the basic acrobatic maneuvers every fighter pilot should master before heading into combat, including Immelmans, loops, snap, half & slow rolls, vertical reverses and more. This is a very detailed, hands on training film, showing the role of control surfaces, precise live action stick and rudder movements for each maneuver and common errors and how to avoid them. The agile Fairchild PT-19 trainer is a star performer * The Fighting Lady. This is my shot by shot color restoration of this classic film and you wont see anywhere else! Academy Award Winner "The Fighting Lady" follows the fictional career of an Essex Class aircraft carrier from the Marcus Islands campaign, through Tinian, Truk, the "Mariana's Turkey Shoot" and much more. *Submarine Warfare in the Pacific. This dramaticfilm was completed shortly after the end of the War and has rare footage on US submarine operations showing subs & their crews on real missions.. There is a cameo appearance by Japanese Fleet Admiral Nagano who discusses (in English) the effect of US sub operations on the ability of the Japanese to make war. That's because the "pig boats" inflicted military and transport losses on the enemy that were far beyond their own tiny numbers. The program is introduced by Vice Admiral Charles A. Lockwood, Jr, the legendary commander of Pacific submarine forces (COMSUBPAC) and narrated by Gene Kelly. * River Patrol on the Mekong Delta. Restored ColorThe USS Harnett County (LST-821) served as a floating base in the China Sea for PCF swift boat and helicopter patrol operations in the Mekong River Delta during the Vietnam War. The labyrinthine Delta was a hot zone in the war against well organized Viet Cong insurgents, immortalized by the film "Apocalypse Now." Exciting action on swift boat river patrols & Huey helocipter gunship ground support missions. Highly recommended * Recognition of the Junker Ju 88. There's some very good Ju 88 footage here, including of one of the intact examples that landed in Britain. Originally designed for the Luftwaffe as a fast ("schnell") medium bomber in the 1930s, the 88 ended up performing more roles than any other aircraft in World War 2, including bomber, dive bomber, night fighter, torpedo bomber, reconnaissance aircraft, heavy fighter and as a flying bomb late in the War. * The Bulge: The Battle at St.Vith. "This remarkable documentary combines eyewitness testimony from an all star cast of key participants on both sides of a critical engagement in the Battle of the Bulge with outstanding archival footage, detailed maps, and a return to revisit the actual terrain where each phase of battle was fought. Air Front 1944-45: Market Garden, Tallboys, Typhoons, Tempests, Night Raids & More NEW Glider landings in support of Operation Market Garden, night attacks on Brunswick (Braunschweig ) and other German cities with incendiary bombs that literally set them on fire, Hawker Typhoon & Tempest fighter/bombers attacking bridges, railroads & troop concentrations, Mosquitoes & Bristol Beaufighters & attacking shipping on the Norwegian coast, and Lancaster dropping massive 12,000 LB Tall Boy & 22,000 LB Grand Slam bombs on hardened targets like submariner pens and coastal defenseless and much more. * Laser Weapons For the Fleet-Restored Color NEW The Vietnam War posed a new challenge for American attack aircraft: how to deliver payloads with great precision against hotly defended targets like bridges in North Vietnam without exposing planes & crews to withering AAA fire during traditional low altitude dive bombing runs. The answer was a new generation of smart weapons systems employing laser beams, TV transmission or a combination of both. This report focus on the development, evolution and deployment of laser based systems by both Navy Air and Marine Corps. * Medium Bombardment & Attack with the B-25 This unique film was made to indoctrinate B-25 & A-20 medium bomber squadrons transitioning from Europe to the Pacific, with a focus on the North American B-25. These groups were primarily tasked with ground and anti ship attacks, inflicting huge losses on Japanese forces, far out of proportion to their numbers. Great footage of extremely low level actions! Covers operating in the tropics, squadron staff duties, planning missions, converting B-25s for ground attack and tactics for land & sea attacks "on the deck. * 362nd Fighter Group - On the Prowl Over Germany Exclusive Production! Select 362nd Fighter Group P-47 Thunderbolt fighter/bombers were specially equipped with extra color movie cameras to capture thrilling ground and air attacks as they happened. These squadrons were tasked with striking targets inside Germany as the war against the Third Reich entered it's final act in Spring, 1945. The result is unique "from the cockpit" views putting you in the middle of attacks on tanks, airfields, trucks, rail yards, bridges, trains, fighters, and more. * First Flights of the Northrop YB-49 Flying Wing This film was produced by the US Air Force and Northrop to show the first test flights of the gigantic YB-49 Flying Wing at Northrop's Hawthorne, California facility, introducing it to the American public for the first time. The YB-49 was a redesign of the propeller driven B-35, upgraded with six GE Allison jet engines and various structural design improvements. The revolutionary design and almost other worldly, alien spacecraft-like lines of the jet powered Wing are highlighted in this very clean black and white footage. * Operating Light & Medium Tanks in World War 2, Not only does this film cover the basics of operating World War 2 era American tanks, it offers a rare look at two seldom seen early examples, the M-3 Medium "Lee," (British "Grant") and the M-3 Light "Stuart." A Lee was featured in the 1943 Hollywood classic motion picture "Sahara," starring Humphrey Bogart. The Stuart appeared in many episodes of DC Comic's "Jeb Stuart and the Haunted Tank," often in the unlikely role of taking on German Tigers. Both tanks were active on all fronts early in World War 2, including in Russian, where they were supplied to the Soviets, who found them distinctly inferior. * The Fighting 51st F-86 Sabre Jets in Korea This revealing documentary was produced by the US Air Force during the Korean War. You'll see members of all sections of the 'Fighting 51st" Fighter Group and their F-86 Sabres in action. The film covers a typical mission, from planning through touchdown. One of the highlights of the film is an address by Francis "Gabby" Gabreski, legendary 56th Fighter Group ace in World War 2 and CO of the 51st in Korea . * M-1 Rifle Caliber .30 Principles of Operation Although the M-1 has attained legendary status as the companion of the majority of US troops in World War 2, it's truly revolutionary role is still not fully appreciated. Designed by the brilliant John C. Garand, the M1 was the first semi-automatic rifle issued en masse to the army of any nation. This World War 2 Army Signal Corps film takes you inside and out of the operation of Garand's ingenious design. The M1's semiautomatic operation and eight shot clip gave U S forces a significant advantage in firepower and response time over the enemy. Restored "Operation Catechism," the final British attack on the German battleship Tirpitz, the Bismarck's surviving sister ship, took place on 12 November 1944. The ship used her main 38 cm guns against the bombers, which approached the battleship at 09:35, forcing them to temporarily disperse, but did not turn back the attack. 32 Lancaster bombers from Nos. 9 and 617 Squadrons dropped 29 12,000 lb Tallboys on the ship, *Destroyermen - Life aboard a Cold War U.S. Navy DD. Restored Color NEW! This is a rare up close and personal look at daily life aboard US Navy destroyers on duty with the 6th fleet in the Mediterranean in the early 1960s. Featured ships include USS Bordelon (DD-881), USS Strong (DD-758), and USS Gearing (DD-710). You'll see a wide range of activities including a submarine alert, gunfire drill including shots inside the 5. gun turret, engine room operations, refueling at sea, and liberty ashore in Athens, Greece. A memorable color snap snapshot of a bygone era. * A-20 Attack Bombers in Color plus 416th BG Scrapbook 1945. Exclusive Documentary! Restored. This is an original documentary. See rare color footage of 416th Bomb Group A-20 Havoc (aka Bostons) attack bombers taken before the Group transition to A-26s in the fall of 1944 -- plus many memorable still photos from Group photog, Sergeant Cachat. Includes over 200 pictures, including dramatic combat shots, detailed photo analysis of target strikes in France, Belgium, and Germany, and some of the most memorable crew photos we've ever seen. *P-38:Angel in Overalls. This film was developed to show US Lockheed P-38 production line workers the Lightning at war in a wide variety of combat roles. The dramatic framing for the piece involves a straggling B-24 that is saved from certain destruction by the arrival of "Angels in Overalls" -- P-38s. You'll see all aspects of Lightnings in action, including air-to-air gun camera, bombing, rocketing and photo recon. There's a cameo by Air Corps P-38 ace of aces Dick Bong too (Get this video & more on our P-38 Lightning DVD) * Acrobatics for World War 2 Fighter Pilots featuring the Fairchild PT-19 This Army Air Corps training film covers the basic acrobatic maneuvers every fighter pilot should master before heading into combat, including Immelmans, loops, snap, half & slow rolls, vertical reverses and more. This is a very detailed, hands on training film, showing the role of control surfaces, precise live action stick and rudder movements for each maneuver and common errors and how to avoid them. The agile Fairchild PT-19 trainer is a star performer. * B-58 Hustler Low Level Bombing Capability. The supersonic B-58's ability to hug the ground at very high speed without the benefit of fly by wire computer control was amazing! I digitally restored this video. This is a simulated low level, long range attack launched from Carswell AFB in Texas against Edwards AFB in California. Much of the mission is flown at 700 mph and above at ground hugging altitude below 500 feet. The B-58 exhibited exceptional handling characteristics. Sensational from-the-cockpit views of the Hustler booming along over mountains and prairie * The Fleet that Came to Stay. In March, 1945, the US Army, Navy and Marines, with the support of the British Pacific Fleet, launched "Operation Iceberg" against the Japanese Island of Okinawa, in the Ryukus, a key stepping stone for the invasion of the Japanese home islands. US troops landed successfully, leading to one of the bloodiest land battles in World War II. In response over the next tree months, the Japanese launched a series of terrifying kamikaze suicide aircraft attacks from land bases only 350 miles away against the screening Allied naval *The Employment of Heavy Machine Guns in the Attack. In the popular mind, the heavy machine gun is usually thought of as a supremely effective defensive weapon. This unique film shows various infantry tactics that can be used to make it a potent part of offensive operations as well. The featured weapon in this US Army World War 2 training film is the Browning M-1917 water-cooled .30 caliber "heavy" machine gun, perhaps selected with the idea that if the big Browning could be lugged forward in an offensive maneuver, anything could be We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. NEW! Restored Just some of the many highlights; First public unveiling & testing of the P-38 Lockheed Lightning, test flights (including rare interior shots) of the gigantic Douglas B-19 experimental long range bomber that could fly 4,000 miles with 18,000 lbs of bombs, the largest bomber produced in the USA until 1946, see Curtiss Aircraft build a new factory to crank out more P-40 War Hawks, then watch a War Hawk be bore sited & see it break the world speed record in a screaming 660 mph dive; General George Patton learns how to fly 7 much more * Research Test Flight of Convair Model 7002 - XF92A Airplane. Restored Color. This little gem would be right at home in the movie "The Right Stuff," showing early delta wing jet flight testing at Muroc (Edwards) Air Force Base. Rare color film shows the 7002 being tested by Consolidated (later Convair) in 1948 at the Muroc Test Base in California, (later Edwards Air Force Base). Surely there is no more godforsaken spot on the face of the Lower 48! It's hard to imagine a more influential aircraft, as the delta wing was not only adopted in the Convair's F-102 and B-58, but also in a long series of other US, British, French, and Russian designs. Charts shown in the film do a good job of illustrating the many virtues of the 60 degree delta wing. * Northrop P-61 Black Widow Night Fighters in Color 1945. Exclusive Documentary! Restored. Very rare color P-61 night fighter footage shot at the end of World War II. This is an original documentary I put together from unedited, silent archival film. See the 422nd NFS operating out of Florennes, Belgium, where you'll get an up close look at P-61 "No Nothin II." Then you'll move on to the Pacific and the island of Saipan, where you'll see legendary 548th NFS P-61 "Bat Outta Hells." One the highlights of this program is P-61 gun camera film showing a night attack with bombs, rockets and 20mm cannon * U.S.A.A.F. -- The Air War in Europe 1943. This is a series of dramatic films showing the rapidly maturing Army Air Force moving into high gear in the Fall of 1943. You'll see the B-17 "Berlin Sleeper" on one of her record breaking 102 missions. B-25 Mitchells battle North African mud to move out to their new base in occupied Italy. "Thunderbolts Over Europe" shows P-47s taking on the Luftwaffe on a dramatic bomber escort mission. Thirty-three Martin B-26 Marauder bombers, protected by RAF Spitfires, hit ship yards, power plants and workshops near Le Trait, France & more * Learn & Live: Pilot Safety Training in World War 2. Pilot deaths during training were all too frequent in World War 2, a grim fact that was kept from the public, but was a matter of grave concern to the Army Air Corps. Shown only to pilots, this wonderful film, “Learn & Live,” is a unique combination of an entertaining, sometimes surreal story line, with practical nuts and bolts safety training. Saint Peter (Guy Kibby) gives “Joe Instructor” a temporary pass to ”Pilot Heaven,” because he's concerned that so many more young trainees are coming up stairs before their time, due to ignoring procedures or excessive bravado. * Operating the Browning Automatic Rifle - The BAR. The BAR is one of the legendary weapons of the Twentieth Century. First introduced at the end of World War I, it served in all theaters of World War II, was widely used in Korea and was not fully phased out of the US arsenal until the 1970s. Used as both an automatic rifle and light machine gun, it added extra punch down to the squad level, where every man was trained in its use just in case "the BAR man" was put out of action. * We Flew the Mig 15 with Chuck Yeager. In September, 1953, a North Korean defector handed over the first Russian Mig 15 to fall into US hands. This was a momentous occasion because the Mig had proven to be a worthy adversary for the North American F-86 Sabre in the skies over Korea. The Mig was immediately subjected to comprehensive testing. You'll see Chuck Yeagar and other top test pilots putting the Mig through it's paces and hear what they learned, along with a point by point performance comparison with the F-86. Nice footage of the Mig's armaments too. * Clark Gable's Combat America. Exclusive Restored Color"Combat America" was produced, written, directed, and narrated by Clark Gable while he was on assignment with the 8th Air Force, developing a gunnery training film. Though it packs plenty of very exciting color combat footage and doesn't flinch in showing high cost of the war in the air, in many ways, it's as much a warm home movie as a hard bitten, wartime "information" film. Gable flew bombing missions with the 351st until he was ordered to stop by "the Brass." We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. Restored with exclusive additional scenes. "Thunderbolt!" chronicles the exploits of the P-47 Thunderbolt pilots of the "Fighting Cocks" of the 65th Fighter squadron, 57th Fighter Group. Based on the island of Corsica off the northwest coast of the Italian boot, the 57th FG flew from behind the enemy's flank. As part of "Operation Strangle," they continuously attacked highways, bridges, ammo dumps, railroads and just about anything that moved to choke off the flow of supplies to the Axis front line. This film not only features exciting one-of-a-kind P-47 combat footage, it also shows day-to-day life on a MTO forward air base, including vintage pilot slang. *World War 2 Fighter Combat Formations with Ronald Reagan An experienced Army Air Force fighter pilot, played by Ronald Reagan, is called back from the front to lead a fighter tactics class in Flight School. The film starts with the AAF way for forming. deploying and maneuvering fighter formations from two ship elements to 12 plane squadrons & how to take on enemy fighters. The focus turns to tactics for escorting friendly bombers and attacking enemy bomber formations, including close escort, top cover, using the sun to blind opponents, employing decoys in the attack - and more. * U.S. Navy Jet Fighter Tactics 1951 "Aerial Tactics: High Speed, High Altitude Flight Problems" was produced by the Navy Department during the Korean War. This unique film is compelling for two reasons. First, it features truly outstanding color footage of McDonnell F2H-2 Banshee & Grumman F9F Panther fighters operating singly and in squadron formation, dancing agilely among towering cumulus clouds and flying off carriers. Second, it opens a fascinating window on US Navy carrier launched fighter operations and tactics at the time of the Korean War in the "guns only" era before air-to-air missiles *Ditch & Live at Sea in a Boeing B-17 Ditching in water was a fact of life for stricken aircraft in World War 2, from the frozen white tops of the North Sea to the Shark infested waters of the South Pacific. Lt. Reynolds, played by veteran actor Arthur Kennedy (Lawrence of Arabia), is copilot on a B-17 that ditches at sea. He's survives by pure luck, but the rest of the crew is lost due to a lack of preparation. When he gets his own ship, Reynolds vows his crew is thoroughly trained in B-17 ditching. He gives them the straight dope, step by step. * Flexible Aerial Gunnery; Making a World War 2 Aviation Gunner This Army Air Force training film is the best look inside a World War 2 aerial gunnery school we have seen. Developed to be shown to trainees at the beginning of their course, its a thorough step by step preview of what to expect. Some of the many things you'll see: the role of the instructor, .30 &.50 caliber machine guns, dealing with jams, compensating for bullet drop, estimating range and leading targets, bore sighting and harmonization & a lot more. *World War 2 Machine Gun Shootout: U.S. vrs German. "Automatic Weapons: American vrs. German" uses a pair of memorable "shoot outs" to compare the relative strengths of the US weapons with their captured German counterparts. A Thompson and an M-3 "Grease Gun" face off against the German MP-40, and then the light and heavy versions of the American Browning .30 caliber face off against the German MG-34 and MG-42. The results are fascinating, although perhaps a tad miss-leading * World War 2 U.S. Naval Aviation Cadet I did a shot by shot color restoration of this video. Narrated by Joseph Cotton (Citizen Kane, The Third Man). This color film follows the career of a Navy cadet from enlistment soon after Pearl Harbor through Primary and Advanced Flight Training and on into combat. Especially memorable are the many scenes shot at Pensacola Naval Air Station flight school. You'll see all aspects of cadet training, including flight, gunnery, navigation and bombing, along with a generous serving of cadet social life. * Blitzkrieg: The German Invasion of Poland During World War 2 German combat footage on the invasion of Poland was assembled by the US Army Signal Corps with English narration to show revolutionary Blitzkrieg tactics to the US Army. Excellent footage seen nowhere else. Some highlights: Extensive footage of German armored columns fighting and advancing across Poland, including numerous early war tanks and armored vehicles. Engineers bridge the Vistula. Junkers He 111, Dornier Do 17, and Junker's Ju 87 bomber and Messerschmidt Bf 109 fighter operations We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy pilot training films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. School for Danger S.O.E. & the French Resistance Fight the German Occupation - 1944 This is one the most exciting World War 2 espionage films you'll see. What's unique is that the characters play themselves performing the roles they executed during World War 2 -- from British secret agents to French Resistance fighters to special mission RAF pilots and operational commanders. This remarkable film on British S.O.E.(Special Operations Executive) wartime espionage operations in occupied France was shot on location after the Liberation. The film is a composite re-creation of actual operations combined into one story line. (Get this video & more on our World War 2 Resistance Fighters DVD) * Air Attacks Against Italy shows exciting from the cockpit views of USAAF A-36 dive bomber bombing & strafing attacks near Rome in 1944. This is a short film, but it's nonstop action! Some of the best footage of US dive bombing attacks you will find anywhere. The A-36 Apache (aka "The Invader") was the Allison engined ground attack version of the P-51 Mustang, equipped with dive brakes and 20mm cannon.(Get this video & more on our P-51 Mustangs Go to War DVD) http://zenoswarbirdvideos.com/Images/A-26160.jpg/IMG] * 416th Bomb Group A-26s Attack Exclusive Documentary Legendary SFP 186 Army Air Force combat cameramen rode along with 416th Bomb Group A-26 Invaders during March and April, 1945 with color film loaded in their cameras. (Get this video & four more plus A-20 & A-26 Pilot's Manual on our Douglas A-20 Havoc & A-26 Invader DVD) *Flight Deck Crews: Landing & Re-Spotting World War 2 Aircraft Carrier Planes. During the battle of Midway, when American dive bombers caught the Japanese carriers Akagi and Kaga with decks full of refueling and re-arming planes, the resulting catastrophe for the IJN was a turning point in World War II. This unique film offer a rare look (in color) at how US Navy carrier flight deck crews were trained to quickly land, park, fuel & re-arm incoming planes and relaunch aircraft. (Get this video & more and on our Fighting Lady/Carrier Ops DVD) * Luftwaffe Finis: The End of the German Air Force 1945 Exclusive Documentary I produced this documentary from unedited, silent footage. That meant that the ability get US air forces on their way quickly and efficiently was absolutely essential for survivability, striking power and deterrence. A critical element in this quick response was "MITO" - "Minimum Interval Take-Off. (Get this video & more on our B-58 Hustler - Volume 2 DVD) We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy pilot training films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. "The Gen" was a film news series produced the Royal Air Force & shown to service personnel, selected scenes from which are shown here. Highlights include R.A.F. Douglas Boston Attack Bombers make a very low level attack on an armaments factory in France; "The Independent Air Force" & their de Havilland Mosquitoes; Group Captain Percy Charles "Pick" Pickard's last mission, a low level precision Mosquito strike to free French Resistance fighters from a German prison in Amiens, France, and R.A.F. Hawker Typhoon fighter/bombers use rockets and canon to support the Allied breakout from Normandy after the D-Day landings. *Army Air forces Alerts: Merlin P-40-Fs, .50 Caliber Jams & Turbo Superchargers 1943. NEW. Army Air Forces Alerts? were produced by the Air Force testing & development center at Wright Field during World War 2 to inform service personnel of the latest technological advances in aviation, communications, weapons and ordnance, and to give "heads ups?" on potential problems and how to deal with them. Segments featured here introduced adding Rolls Royce designed Merlin engines (built under license by Packard) to the Curtiss P-40F, how to deal with bullet jamming in .50 caliber machine guns used in bombers, and the theory and practice of using turbo superchargers in aircraft engines, in this case, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter. * U.S. Navy Gunfire Strikes on North Vietnam. NEW This classified US Navy report made during the Vietnam War, Surface Strikes? tells the fascinating, and now largely forgotten story of 7th Fleet hit run gunfire surface attacks conducted by destroyers and cruisers, close to the shores of North Vietnam in support of Operations Linebacker 1 & 2 starting in April 1972 through January 1973. The overall objective was to disrupt enemy lines of communication in support of ongoing air strikes. There is a frank discussion of the overall effectiveness of these attacks. * DZ Normandy. The D-Day Airborne Invasion, June 6th, 1944. "DZ Normandy: The Employment of Troop Carrier Forces" was produced during World War 2 to show the strategic and tactical planning that went into the airborne component of the June 6th, 1944 D-Day invasion as well as document the actual proceedings. It was originally only shown to airborne troops as part of their training and was declassified after the end of the War. Of special interest is the detailed depiction of the development of glider troop transport and doctrine. Great footage of 82nd & 101st Division paratroopers too. If you think you've seen all the surviving footage about Normandy operations, this film will be an eye opener. * B-25s: Winged Artillery. Nine 75mm cannon firing B-25Gs of the 48th Bomb Squadron, 7AAF, based on Apamama in the Gilbert Islands, conduct a hair raising tree top level strike on the Japanese air base on Mille. Also features amazingly well preserved and very rare color footage of daily life of air crew and ground personnel stationed on the islands. As a bonus, you'll watch Sea Bees using heavy equipment to transform these hard won tropical atolls into fully functioning air bases and ground crews maintaining the Mitchell's massive canons. * B-52 Vietnam. The focus of this dramatic film is an "Arc Light" bombing mission flown by Pilot Captain George Dietrich and the crew of B-52 D "075," 4258th Strategic Wing out of U Tapao, Thailand in support of the besieged marine base at Khe Sahn in 1968. You'll see every aspect of the mission from Wing briefing, pre-fight check & takeoff, through the bomb run and final touch down. But this is much more than a typical Air Force information film -- it's more like a home movie. You'll see Capt. Dietrich and his crew relaxing in a grass hut, sipping PBRs at the end of the runway, shooting the bull & watching the big Buffs takeoff. * Target for Tonight follows Group Captain Percy Charles "Pick" Pickard and the crew "F for Freddie," a Vicker's Wellington medium bomber (Millerton Station, Group 33), through an entire low level night mission attacking a oil storage depot at a rail yard. Notice how the film highlights the participation of not only servicemen from all classes from around the British Isles, but also Canadians and a navigator that sounds a lot like a Yank volunteer. * B-24 Liberators Over Europe; 1942-1945 is a remarkable film produced by the Eighth Air Force from combat camera footage showing B-24s in action over Europe. From Ploesti to Berlin, you'll discover memorable Liberator scenes not found anywhere else, including pulse pounding air attacks. You'll see B-24 crews up close too, along with their ships. We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy pilot training films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. Restored Color You'll see Prop Mechanics, Carburetor Mechanics, Instrument Specialists and Flight Engineers at work, repairing & servicing a wide variety of aircraft including like the SBD Dauntless dive bomber, Vought OS2U Kingfisher catapult scout plane, four-engined Consolidated PB2Ys & more! Tracking the Threat ASW in the Cold War. New Restored Color. This is an amazing time capsule that could have come right out of the pages of Tom Clancey's classic thriller, “The Hunt for the Red October.” In this memorable recreation, a US Navy Carrier Task Force detects and tracks a Soviet sub in the North Atlantic. You'll see all aspects of the operation from the high tech Tactical Command Centers aboard the Carrier USS America and Destroyer USS Spruance (DDG-111), to P3 Orion turbo props out of Keflavik Iceland and carrier launched S3 Vikings dropping and monitoring sonobuoy fields, to Destroyers deploying towed arrays . The Thunderbolts: Ramrod to Emden. Restored. The 56th Fighter Group (made up of the 61, 62 & 63 squadrons) was one of the most storied Air Corps units of World War II. Home to aces like David Schilling (22 kills), Frances "Gabby" Gabreski (28), Robert S. Johnson (27), Fred Christensen (21.5), Walker Mahurin (21), and CO Hubert "Hub" Zemke (18), the 56th blazed an early trail across the skies of the ETO in their massive, but deadly P-47 Thunderbolts "Ramrod to Emden" is the story of the Dec 11, 1943 bomber escort mission (aka "a ramrod") to Emden, Germany. The Story of the Black Cat PBYs EXCLUSIVE EDITION! Originally designed primarily as a reconnaissance and antisubmarine amphibious patrol plane, the big twin engined PBY Catalina's super long range, all weather capability, capacity to lug both bombs and radar, ability to loiter for hours hunting convoys and operate from anywhere in the Pacific, made it an ideal naval night attack bomber. One of the least known stories of the war in the Pacific, these black painted PBY "VPB" ('Patrol Bombing") squadrons spread destruction and chaos far out of proportion to their relatively small numbers. Air Operations in Lae-Salamaua on New Guinea This action packed film covers a key battle of the oft overlooked 1943 New Guinea campaign in the South Pacific. General Douglas MacArthur and his staff put together a brilliant combined arms strategy that utilized Air Power as a key element to leap frog over rugged jungle terrain and isolate and destroy Japanese strongholds. While tough Australian jungle fighters spearheaded the frontal ground assault, American paratroopers accompanied by Aussie light artillery volunteers, dropped on, seized & secured a Japanese air base behind enemy lines so that an Australian division could be ferried in on C-47s and attack the enemy from the rear. The General Douglas MacArthur Story The life story of one of the most remarkable Generals in American history, from the trenches of World War 1, to the deep bunkers of Corregidor, to returning to the Philippines at Leyte Gulf, to the hills of Korea & much more. Airplane 11: The First B-58 Hustler Trainer The first training version of the B-58 Hustler supersonic bomber, the TB-58, was delivered by General Dynamics to the US Air Force in August, 1960, the first of eight R&D aircraft (this was "aircraft 11" in the test series) converted for that purpose. The biggest change involved converting the Bomber/Navigator station (2nd seat aft) to a pilot/instructors compartment with instrumentation and controls. Highlights include great footage of the colorfully painted TB 58 training version in operation, a tour of the mockup of the converted crew section, and unique in flight footage shot from inside the aircraft. Axis War News Captured Newsreels: He 111s, Stalingrad, the Tirpitz & more Some highlights: German air & naval forces (Tirpitz!) attack Allied convoys to Murmansk. Italian Sub Barbarigo operating in the South Atlantic. German & Italian forces attack an allied convoy in the Med. The fight for the Red October Factory in Stalingrad. The battle before Leningrad. Rommel's Afrika Korps is resupplied. German defensive lines and fortifications in Italy. HE 111 bomber attacks on the Eastern Front. Axis forces defend the "Kuban Bridgehead" against Soviet attacks. Elite German assault boat troops fight in the Kuban River marshes. The German commerce raider "Thor's" epic voyage to Japan. This is a unique look inside an Iowa class battleship, the U.S.S. Wisconsin, during the Korean Conflict. Essentially unchanged from World War 2, the Wisconsin provided fire support for amphibious landings and inland battles, hurling 16 inch shells 20 miles. The Wisconsin was a floating city at work. Carr at work and at play in their newly captured base in Germany in Spring, 1945, only a few months before war's end. Nice scenes with the group's well known P-51Ds too, including "Margie Maru" and "Angel's Playmate." This was the first group to fly P-51Bs in the ETO. Amazing color gun camera film! *Introduction to Dive Bombing You'll learn everything from the basic theory of dive bombing to how to put your egg on a real target, including ships at sea. Navy SBD "Dauntless" dive bombers delivered fatal blows against the Japanese carrier force at the battle of Midway using the same techniques you'll see in this film. A must for history buffs and virtual combat pilot's alike. *9th AF 262 Fighter Group P-47 Thunderbolts in Action. I produced this original documentary from dark, faded silent gun camera film footage from the Spring of 1945 over Germany. I've been able to restore it using digital technology. I've added additional info about the pilots and planes and added real P-47 Thunderbolt sound effects. Featured pilots from the 362nd FG are Alvin Lieberman, Robert A Jackson and the legendary Wilfred Crutchfield, flying his P-47 "Kentucky Colonel," attacking a wide variety of ground targets in March, 1945 *Go for Broke- Japanese Americans fight for their country Academy Award Nominee 1951 Go for Broke!” stars Van Johnson along with actual veterans of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The film tells the true story of the 442nd RCT, composed of Nisei soldiers, second-generation Americans born to Japanese-American parents, from training through combat. Fighting in Europe in World War II, they were the most highly decorated unit for their size & length of service in the history of the US Army, with one of the highest casualty rates.) http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com/Images/ARCTIC160.jpg *Land & Live in the Arctic for World War 2 Airmen A P-40 pilot has engine trouble & a radio malfunction and makes a crash landing in deep snow & trees. Unique extended color version with newly discovered footage. Very rare combat film of an A-36A fighter-bomber squadron in action in Sicily. The A36A was equipped with the Mustang's original Allison engine, as opposed to the Rolls Royce Merlin adapted so successfully in the escort versions, which worked just fine for low level work. Note the quad 20mm canons on this fast and powerful attack plane, very unusual on an American fighter. *The Army Air force Report -1944 This fascinating film report on the state of the Army Air Force was prepared by the Office of Strategic Services (forerunner to the C.I.A.) and delivered to the American people by Air Force C-in-C General Hap Arnold in early 1944. We know of no better picture of the organization and operation of US Air Force power in the midst of World War 2. *Luftwaffe Finis - The end of the German Air Force. B-17 Emergency Operations is literally a "hot stove" session where veteran pilots give hands on advice on how to overcome some of their most challenging B-17 disaster scenarios. You'll learn how to handle dangerous situations like in flight engine fires, CG induced flight instability, stalls, emergency small field takeoffs & landings and a lot more. Plus there are animations, graphics and a dry sense of humor that make this one of the more enjoyable training films to come out of World War 2. *Operation Sky Watch Nuclear Armed B-52s on High Alert NEW! This is a time capsule from the height of the Cold War. In this detailed reenactment, Major Paul Dobbins and the crew of B-52G Buzz Saw 48 are put on Airborne Alert, the highest stage of readiness during a crisis for SAC's strategic bombers in the early 1960s. Armed with a pair of nuclear tipped Hound Dog AGM-28 long range supersonic missiles, a load of A-Bombs and ADM-20 Quail jet powered decoys designed to fool enemy radars, they're sent to a predetermined patrol area near the Arctic Circle. *416th Bomb Group A-26 Invaders Attack. This is an original documentary I put together from silent, unedited archival film footage and stills. The essential roll that "Attack" bombers like the A-20 & A-26 is one of the untold stories of World War 2. Legendary SFP 186 Army Air Force combat cameramen rode along with 416th Bomb Group A-26 Invaders during March and April, 1945 with color film loaded in their cameras. The results are some of the most beautiful and dramatic footage to come out of the World War II. *P-47 Thunderbolt World Wide Combat Operations. *The 25 Hour Day: F-105s in Vietnam Produced by Fairchild-Hiller-Republic for the US Air Force, this film offers a unique look inside F-105 "Thunderchief" ("The Thud!") fighter-bomber operations when the air campaign against North Vietnamese supply lines was ramping up into to high gear. *World War 2 Machine Gun Shootout: US Vrs German. Produced by the US War Department to familiarize American troops with the actual sound and performance of various German automatic weapons including the Schmeisser MP-40 machine pistol and the MG-34 and MG-42 machine guns. The higher rate of fire of some of the German weapons was cause for concern among US soldiers. "Automatic Weapons: American vs.German" uses a pair of memorable "shootouts" to compare the relative strengths of the US weapons with their captured German counterparts. *No Sweat: F-86 Flight Safety Training The star of this show is the featured aircraft, a North American F-86D -- the all weather version of the Sabre jet -- which is shown in considerable detail. Notice the radar scope mounted on the instrument panel. I especially like the pre-CGI aerial shots of a real Sabre slipping through the cumulus. A beautiful sight! The film was produced by USAFE (United States Air Force, Europe) and filmed on location in Germany in the 1950s in order to cut down on costly air accidents resulting from pilot error. * John Ford's This is the first film ever made on how to be a spy in enemy territory produced by a secret intelligence service to train their agents. (Ford appears at 5:40) It's been released to the public for the first time by the C.I.A. Archives. Now showing in September "At the Matinee" at Zeno's Drive-In Free admission! http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com/MATINEE.html Carl Sandburg's "Bomber” NEW! This dramatic film was produced for and shown to defense plant workers, lauding and encouraging their important work. Three time Pulitzer Prize winning poet & biographer Carl Sandburg wrote the script for this stirring tribute to a marvelous aircraft, the B-26 medium bomber, and to the men & women who built them in the Martin's Marietta Georgia plant. Striking Life Magazine style documentary cinematography combines with Sandburg's powerful words to create an unforgettable portrait of Americans working 24/7/365 to help win the War. Back Door Gang P-38s in Color-Exclusive! Newly discovered color film of the 430th FS, 474th FG, 9th Air Force. From the get go, the 474th was configured as a ground attack unit, but they also provided bomber escort and level bombing, led by Norden bomb sight equipped "Droop Snoots," which are shown here. One of three P-38 squadrons in the 474th, the 430th's call sign was "Back Door," and its planes and pilots are featured in the film in the Spring of 1945 at their base in Florennes, Belgium, a former Luftwaffe night fighter base U.S. Army Nurses in World War 2 NEW! Many American service men's fondest memories from World War 2 are of Army Nurses who treated them, comforted them and often helped save their lives. The film shows American nurses in training and providing vital services in field & general hospitals, on board trains and in the air -- on all fronts, around the World. U.S. Marines Battle for the Marianas NEW! The Marianas Islands had tremendous strategic importance as bases for long range B-29 attacks against the Japanese home Islands, for air support for the upcoming invasion of the Philippines, and as a staging area for the planned invasion of Japan. While giving a good strategic overview of the campaign, this film focuses on the battle for Saipan, the initial landing point and lynch pin for the rest of the campaign. It was already the home of a large air base. 71,000 Americans took on 31,000 well entrenched Japanese. The fighting on Saipan differed from jungle fighting on Guadalcanal. Much of the southern part island is open country, suitable for tanks, but heavily fortified ridges ran the length of the island, where defenders had to be rooted out, yard by yard –vividly recorded here by Marine combat cameramen. Saipan B-29 Superforts in Color & Stereo Sound - Exclusive Color footage shows the 73rd Bomb Wing, based on the island of Saipan in the Marianas, operating against Japan in early 1945. You'll see B-29 pilots & crews on R&R and on mission in their magnificent Superfortresses. The fates of many of the B-29s seen in this picture are documented during the film. Some made the ultimate sacrifice. You'll see a gallery of memorable 73rd Bomb Wing nose art too -- all in living color. "The "maximum effort" take-off scene is an awe inspiring combination of 18 cylinder engine roar and a musical score that's guaranteed to raise goose bumps. This film is very evocative of B-29 operations in the Spring of 1945. Medium Bombardment & Attack with the B-25 Mitchell This unique film was made to indoctrinate B-25 & A-20 medium bomber squadrons transitioning from Europe to the Pacific, with a focus on the North American B-25. U.S. Navy Aerial Torpedo Attack Originally developed to educate pilots about newly developed torpedoes that could be dropped from higher (and therefore less vulnerable) altitudes and speeds, the film also gives a through grounding in torpedo attacks in general. You'll learn about depth setting, range estimation, target angles, leading the target, the effect of crosswinds, working with fighters and dive bombers during an attack, using radar, countering evasive ship maneuvers and much more. You'll also see how far we've come from an analog world where printed charts were cross referenced during combat. All in all, a very interesting and revealing film. The Grumman A6-E Intruder: Any Weather, Any Time This video not only has great A-6 Intruder footage, there's also on the spot interviews with pilots & Air Wing Commanders discussing the aircraft's outstanding capabilities The A-6E, the definitive version of the Navy's A-6 Intruder attack bomber with upgraded navigation and attack systems, was introduced in 1970 and first deployed on 9 December 1971. 14. Zeno's Warbird Video Drive-In Big July 18th Anniversary Newsletter Hello World War 2 & jet aircraft fans -- It's seems like only yesterday, but it’s been 18 years since I launched Zeno's Warbird Video Drive-In http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com web site in the summer of 1997, featuring four aircraft videos (P-38, P-51, B-17 & B-24) streaming at 28.8 kbs dial up speed at 5 fps in a tiny 160X120 pixel window. That's Stone Age tech by today's standards, but before YouTube, it was a big deal & we were soon featured as "Site of the Day" on CNN. The rest is history! You are invited to stop by & celebrate our 18th Anniversary at Zeno's Warbird Video Drive-In to view our July selection of eight exciting films streaming over the Web in broadband. My thanks to BaseOps for permission to post in this forum. Now showing in July "At the Matinee" at Zeno's Drive-In. Free admission! http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com/MATINEE.html *The Fight for the Sky NEW High Quality Print -- Digitally Restored. In February of 1944, General Jimmy Doolittle "turned loose" his fighters to go after the Luftwaffe where they lived. This marked a radical change in strategy from the disastrous tactics of 1943 that kept escorting fighters chained to bombers. Now, US fighters, including the P-51, probed deep into Germany, catching the opposition on the ground, inflicting mortal damage. * Cadet Classification NEW Digitally Restored - Narrated by Ronald Reagan. Most young men who joined the Air Corps wanted to be a pilot, but it was up to training schools to determine where they made the best fit: "Bombardier, Navigator or Pilot." Candidates went through an extensive screening process, including physical fitness, high altitude survival, mental aptitude under stress (graded by an early computer), physical reaction time, coordination and agility and morel. * A-20 Havocs in Color Plus 415th BG Scrap Book Exclusive Documentary See rare color footage of 416th Bomb Group A-20 Havoc (aka Bostons) attack bombers taken before the Group transition to A-26s in the fall of 1944 -- plus many memorable still photos from Group photog, Sergeant Cachat. Includes over 200 pictures, including dramatic combat shots, detailed photo analysis of target strikes in France, Belgium, and Germany, and some of the most memorable crew photos we've ever seen. *Mastering the Bazooka Rocket Launcher The bazooka is the great granddaddy of all modern man portable anti-armor rocket launchers. It was a revolutionary weapon that combined a "stove pipe" rocket launcher, pioneered by Dr. Robert Goddard, with a shaped charge warhead, originally developed by Swiss immigrant Henry Mohaupt for the US War Department in the 1930s. As you'll see, shaped charges focused a superheated penetrating jet of gas whose effect on armored targets was far out of proportion to it's relatively small size. The Bazooka put this awesome destructive power in the hands of a single soldier with a range of hundreds of yards. *The Parachute Rigger New! This in depth film covers all aspects of parachute rigger training, including 3 months of camp, jump school, laying out, rigging, packing and repairing chutes using a variety of specialized tools, jump master duty and rigging & dropping heavy equipment including jeeps & artillery using multiple chutes. * River Patrol Restored Color. The USS Harnett County (LST-821) served as a floating base in the China Sea for PCF swift boat and helicopter patrol operations in the Mekong River Delta during the Vietnam War. The labyrinthine Delta was a hot zone in the war against well-organized Viet Cong insurgents. (IMO this documentary was an inspiration for "Apocalypse Now.")This beautifully photographed film is the real thing -- a "slice of life" documentary showing daily operations aboard the Harnett County and exciting action on swift boat river patrols & Huey helicopter gunship ground support missions. *Land and Live in the Desert for World War 2 Air Crew This remarkable film dramatization was used in World War 2 to train US aircrew on how to survive a crash landing in the desert. After getting really shot up, Army Air Force B-24 Liberator "Pippin" lands 400 miles from their nearest base, 60 miles from the nearest watering hole, on the desolate sands of North Africa. * Recognition of the Heinkel He177 Bomber The Heinkel He 177 Greif (Griffin) was intended to be the Luftwaffe's number one long range heavy bomber in World War 2. Designed before the war, it was built in large numbers. Unfortunately for its crews, it was also tasked with performing precision dive bombing. That resulted in an unusual low drag design where two engines were grouped in a single nacelle on each wing, which proved to be the aircraft's Achilles heel. --- We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. Free admission! http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com/MATINEE.html *Ditch & Live at Sea in a B-17 NEW -- Digitally Restored. Ditching at sea was a fact of life for stricken aircraft in World War 2, from the frozen white tops of the North Sea to the Shark infested waters of the South Pacific. * The Air War Against Japan NEW Digitally Restored. This is a concise overview of the air campaign against Japan from Jimmy Doolittle's B-25 raid on Tokyo launched from the carrier Hornet in 1942 to the dropping of the atomic bomb in 1945 .Includes B-29 strikes from bases built in China and the South Pacific and air strikes launched from carriers late in the war from close range. Excellent footage of building bases, planning sessions and fighter & bomber missions combined with useful explanatory graphics & maps. * DZ Normandy (D-Day 71st Anniversary) "DZ Normandy: The Employment of Troop Carrier Forces" was produced during World War 2 to show the strategic and tactical planning that went into the airborne component of the June 6th, 1944 D-Day invasion as well as document the actual proceedings. It was originally only shown to airborne troops as part of their training and was declassified after the end of the War. Of special interest is the detailed depiction of the development of glider troop transport and doctrine. Great footage of 82nd & 101st Division paratroopers too. *Thunderbolt! Exclusive restored & expanded edition. This is my favorite World War 2 fighter documentary. I did a scene by scene color restoration, added 5 minutes of out takes & directional stereo sound. *The True Glory; From D-Day to the Elbe D-Day 71st Anniversary Academy Award Winner Exclusive Restored Edition "The True Glory" tells the breathtaking story of the Allied sweep across Northern Europe, from the beaches of Normandy to the German surrender, seen through the lenses of hundreds of Combat Cameramen from the USA, Canada, France, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Czechoslovakia, Norway, Great Britain, and captured German footage. * P-61 Black Widow Night Fighters in Color. Exclusive Documentary. Very rare color P-61 night fighter footage shot at the end of World War II. This is an original documentary I put together from unedited, silent archival film. See the 422nd NFS operating out of Florennes, Belgium, where you'll get an up close look at P-61 "No Nothin II." Then you'll move on to the Pacific and the island of Saipan, where you'll see legendary 548th NFS P-61 "Bat Outta Hells." One the highlights of this program is P-61 gun camera film showing a night attack with bombs, rockets and 20mm cannon *John Ford's Battle of Midway (Midway 73rd Anniversary) Academy Award Winner - Restored Color. The Battle of Midway" is an Academy Award Winning documentary, directed by four time Oscar Winner John Ford (The Quiet Man, The Grapes of Wrath, Stage Coach, The Informer). This stirring documentary was shot by director John Ford during the intense June 4th Japanese carrier plane attacks on Midway Island and by Navy Combat Cameramen aboard the USS Yorktown during the epic carrier battle, along with color gun camera film of air to air and air to sea combat. * Hook Down Wheels Down: The Story of US Navy Carriers. This fine documentary was produced by the Department of the Navy to celebrate the first 50 years of carrier based aviation, with an emphasis on World War II operations. Footage ranges from precarious landings on the old Langley, to the Battle of the Coral Sea, to CVEs facing the Japanese at Leyte Gulf and more. Along with some great Navy air action, the highlight of the film are the numerous interviews with famous naval aviators, including George Gay, the only survivor at Midway from Torpedo Squadron 8, and John Thach.
