  1. The other patches are all up exec-ing at the group and wing. I've been TDY to three wings this year and all of them had a patch as the wing exec.
  2. They've figured out that people can be replaced much faster and cheaper than aircraft.
  3. Well, there are still ADOs. They're just mid level captains nowadays. Plus the SQ execs are Lts, so no need to study the jet or tactics.
  4. Three part series on the state of some of big blue's aircraft. In-flight emergency: An investigation into flight safety at Offutt's 55th Wing https://www.omaha.com/news/read-the-whole-series-flight-safety-at-offutt-s-th/collection_14992f1c-f68d-5330-9a65-fe89d3727760.html A congressional WTF memo was shortly thereafter sent to SecAF. https://www.omaha.com/the-nebraska-congressional-delegation-s-letter-to-the-air-force/pdf_7e3bac30-50fb-5715-b728-bb9cd81e3f01.html
  5. The left is beating the "just because it's legal, doesn't make it right" drum right now. So can we selectively apply that phase too?
  6. Once you realize the DoD exists to spend the taxpayers money, EVERYTHING makes sense.
  7. Once again, there's a DuffleBlog article for that ‘We’re making real progress,’ say last 17 commanders in Afghanistan https://www.duffelblog.com/2017/02/were-making-real-progress-say-last-17-commanders-in-afghanistan/
  8. "Jul. 4 1989 was a hell of an Independence Day for the 32nd TFS (Tactical Fighter Squadron) “Wolfhounds”, a unit of the USAFE based at Soesterberg AB (Air Base), in Netherlands. In fact when Captains J.D. “JD” Martin and Bill “Turf” Murphy were scrambled with their F-15C Eagle fighter jets, they could not imagine that their mission was to intercept a very strange MiG." With audio from the F-15s https://theaviationist.com/2012/10/03/mig23-belgium/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Belgian_MiG-23_crash
  9. The internet is free at the Deid and it's fast enough for Netflix, skype, phone calls etc. There are pay options too if you want faster stuff.
  10. From what I saw at the wing, half the people sent to white jets where fine pilots. The other half were the people that get passed around from base to base so that they're someone else's problem. Just the type we want teaching new guys!
  11. Go talk to an FTU IP and see what they say about the products coming from UPT. There are guys that can't fly an ILS or hold altitude. Talking on the radio seems to be a foreign concept as well.v
  12. Tacking on stripes is now considered hazing, even pretending to do so. Para 3.5 http://www.esd.whs.mil/Portals/54/Documents/DD/issuances/dodi/102003.pdf
  13. Might be some interesting opportunities for 11Rs. Or not, the AF will probably screw that up.
  14. There is an abbreviated report out on AFSAS. Recommend reading for -130 guys.
  15. There's some pretty good arguments against the draft/conscription out there. Comparing it to Japanese internment is definitely not one of them.
  16. RAMA World does the double snap luggage tags plus other stuff.
  17. Little Toy Dog - Written by the two survivors of the RB-47 shootdown. Fulcrum - Soviet MiG pilot who stole a jet and defected. First Light - WWII Spitfire pilot.
  18. This info is now in the FIH as well. It's in the last part of the 'B' section. Almost always instant replies to HF radio checks whereas Mainsail on the Global side will never answer you.
  19. New guys take note. This is how you tell a story.
  20. Closed on a house this summer with Amy (PilotWife2 here) and NBKC. Great experience; she was lightning fast with answering any questions and always kept me up to date with all pertinent information. My realtor even commented that he wished everyone on the banking side was like Amy. Made a return from overseas PCS much less stressful.
  21. I've only talked to a couple people who knew him, but it seems like everyone who was there gets real stiff when his name is brought up. Phrasing.
