  1. You'll typically find 3x 8-hour shifts. That's pretty much Creech standard.
  2. Hold out long enough and you'll end up as cadre at Hickam. It's happening....
  3. Snuggie, I don't think you hit on the original question so I'll backfill as required... STS. The MQ-1 and the MQ-9 are effectively the same system... same control station, same comm suites, same radios, et cetera. You can be dual-qual'd depending on the squadron you're in and bounce back and forth between the Pred and the Reaper. To the orginal question. Remote Split Ops = controlling the thing via the satellite link. You do NOT learn to land this thing until after completing IQT and being sent off to your operational squadron. YOu must then, after gaining a little experience, volunteer to deploy at which point you'll be sent to Launch and Recovery Element training. That's done via LOS radio.
  4. No commitment until you complete UPT. Some douches quit after assignment night because they're unhappy with their assignment. Fuck them.
  5. I heard of some article speculating that recent UPT grads who got tagged for Preds would make good candidates for AT-6B pilots should the Air Force ever procure some. Anyone read something along those lines?
  6. Linky. Perhaps this is what you speak of.
  7. patchesrus.com Quality work, fast turn around. But my class wasn't doing a standard parody patch either. YMMV.
  8. D9 had much more potential, but so much was left unresolved. HATED the mockumentary style of the first half. If I want a shaky camera, I'd make my own movie asshat! As for Inglorious Basterds, great movie. Brad Pitt's acting took a lot of heat over the intentionally bad TN accent, but I felt that it was excellent comic relief throughout the movie. It was standard Quentin Tarantino style... another great dialogue-driven movie. If you don't like that style, don't bother with this one. And Col Landa... best villian in a long time. Outstanding acting. That man should win something for that role. "Gratsy!"
  9. You seem to think that we'll be out of there some time soon. LOL.
  10. Agreed. However. The American people just aren't interested in deaths... perhaps 'cause many people don't think our wars are just? Something to consider, I guess. Honestly, I think the last war that the majority of Americans would actually think was just was Persian Gulf 1 and WW2 before that. And certainly those are even debatable. (WW2 less so...) But hey... I hear the Preds are hiring! Now where did my preference sheet go?
  11. It's been one for quite some time now. I'd go so far as to say all of government is a clown show. What's one more clown?
  12. He was a pleasure to have in class. It took a little while for him to get up to speed, but once he got through most of the cultural barrier, he was rocking it. He flew his final checkride last Friday and graduated the ALP program that same day. Truly great guy. He's on his way to Italy to fly the C-27. If Afghanistan buys T-6s, he'll probably be part of the initial cadre for that. My congratulations go out to him and his family. I'm very proud of him.
  13. In classic economic theory, government spending should increase during a recession so as to keep money moving through the economy. However, that is typically predicated on government saving money during the good times. We haven't done well with the savings part and so we don't have the money to keep the economy afloat. As a nation we get excited over "balanced" budgets when this really should be the baseline. The governments' habits of spending more than their budgets is completely unsustainable, but is perpetuated by the voting public which, by and large, is composed of financial simpletons. So in short, good luck saving this sinking ship.
  14. I sure am glad women put up with wearing that sort of stuff.
  15. Who's the asshat who made the entire thing in Flash? The car itself is... uhh... gay. Are people really convinced to join by stuff like that? That's astounding.
  16. I read about 20 minutes worth of this book and put it down never to crack it open again. Complete and utter garbage. "Look at me... a complete asshole and idiot... all praise me in my awesomeness." Ack. My personal recommendations: The Persian Puzzle - Kenneth Pollack The First American: The Life and Times of Benjamin Franklin - H. W. Brands The Physics of Star Trek - Lawrence Krauss The Omnivore's Dilemma - Michael Pollan The God Delusion - Richard Dawkins The World is Flat - Thomas Friedman (previously mentioned) How to Rule the World: A Handbook for the Aspiring Dictator - Andre de Guillaume FairTax: The Truth - Neal Boortz A Brief History of Time - Stephen Hawking Skunk Works - Ben Rich (military, I guess, but spectacular)
  17. And religion plays into this whole thing how? Not following your train of thought. On another note, I have had but one memorable experience at an officers' club and that would be at the Maxwell O' Club. Random Thursday, showed up to find out that a group of LtCol Selects had dropped $10K on alcohol for the whole place. There were a shit ton of people there and the alcohol was free. I eventually resorted to Heineken and tiny bottles of champagne 'cause everything else had been consumed. Bad karaoke out the ass, 25 cent wings, free liquor (no Jager!) and plenty of "scenery." Drunk out of our minds, I stumbled home with a female classmate of mine. GREAT f-in' time. And then I got to Columbus and to our "co-located" piece of crap... So yes... alcohol, women, HERITAGE and no fear of retribution... Bring that to the officers' clubs and the services will see an immediate boost in membership. Until then, I'd rather take my chances downtown. [Edet four spealing]
  18. From the article: "That includes $300,658 for the larger plane, which flew a three-hour mission, and about $28,178 for the F-16 jets, which flew 1.8 hours each, Stein said in an e-mailed statement." Man... If only the public knew how much we spent on paper and toner. Then they'd REALLY be pissed!
  19. "Oh noes... a plane over New York... with fighters escorting it?! Did the terrorists hijack our F-16s, too?! Run for the hills!" I hate John Q. Public.
  20. It's not Flash you want. Adobe Captivate. http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/pr...ation-software/ Of course it's not free (only $800!!)... but neither is PPT.
  21. "Any sexual act that is not penile-vaginal penetration. Usually refers to oral or anal intercourse, but various legal definitions may include other activities." Damn near everyone is guilty per the UCMJ.
  22. Don't worry. We may be going to war with Iran and the rest of the Middle East, but Obama has got your car covered with a government-backed car warranty. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090330/ap_on_..._wh/obama_autos
  23. Shack. And besides... who gives a shit what it's called? It's the same thing. Perhaps we should go to Rummy's love child... GSAVE. GWOT is retarded anyway. War on a tactic? Yeah... 'cause they weren't trying to drum up support by appealing to your emotions with that one. /sarcasm
  24. LOL. WTF were people thinking back in the '70s?
  25. Dude, are you serious?! The military budget is WAY too big. I briefly commented on this in another thread...
