  1. Watched last night. Excellent. Had a family member's name listed in the Roll of Honor at the end. If you haven't seen it, do so.
  2. Actually it's more like a Doccu-Drama like those old "Mini-Series" that were on network TV in the 80's...
  3. Or just kick the can down the road for the next CSAF/MAJCOM/somebody else to deal with it...
  4. No kidding, looks like I'll have to take the kids to this one. SO much of the 20th century (WWII, Cold War, etc...) was shaped by this war.
  5. True, not sure about letting the frau know about all these accidents as I spin up for my own PPL check ride. Saw the posting about the RV-12 accident over at VansAirForce website but didn't know about the BODN connection. Thoughts and prayers for Hook's family. Him, him
  6. Nickle on the grass for the lost; thoughts and prayers for the injured survivor.
  7. KMWH, not AETC but a former SAC base. It's a still up and running airport with a shit ton of ramp/runway space. Out in the middle of BFE Washington (state) but good WX most of the year. Just have to deal with Community College flight training traffic and TCM and NUW guys beating up the pattern.
  8. Or Loring. Guys will be back stabbing each other big time to get that gig!
  9. I was stationed at Nellis when that storm hit Homestead. The Homestead guys had just finished a Flag and rode the storm out in Vegas. Can't imagine the horror of watching/seeing the devastation on TV from a hotel room while your family was so far away and no easy way to contact them in the pre-cell phone era.
  10. And I'll bet he (they) were happy campers when he found out everything was OPS Ck good, green em' up FMC.
  11. Question: I remember seeing something about where they had (or were thinking about) having fresh out of basic training enlisted dudes as part of this experiment to compare learning skills/curve/styles what-the-fuck-ever. Did that actually happen? And if so, did any of those guys/gals graduate and what happens to them now? I know they can't take a rated slot, but send em' back to some sort of tech school (hopefully an E flying gig; i.e. Engineer, Boom, etc...) and not TCN escort duty, finance, shoe clerk stuff, etc... I hope, if qualified, any E's could have at least get their PPL out of it.
  12. Hey, I remember (15ish years ago) reading about a Guard-guy who was a SrA weapons loader on Hogs at Whiteman (I think). In his day job, he was a doctor; and no, not a vet or a gyno. So it possible...
  13. You are correct sir. My point, not put forward very well, was knowing procedures can save your ass. Imagine being a low-time 16 year old PPL stud having a very serious emergency and handling it like a pro. You go girl! Here's the ATC audio...
  14. Worked for this chick, a 16 year-old working on her PPL loses the right MLG inner strut and tire on take-off for her first XC solo. Lands safely without a scratch with only minor bending of the airplane... https://abcnews.go.com/US/video/teen-pilot-training-loses-wheel-makes-emergency-landing-57749886
  15. Soon after his arrival at said chow hall, charges of his reading/openly displaying copies of BBQ Pitmasters monthly surface. Said articles included images of smoked pork butts, baby-back ribs, bacon and assorted unapproved food items that are found "offensive" by said TCN and host nation personnel. Charges are brought up and our hero is destroyed in the court of public opinion followed by ā€œadministrative actionā€ as he is reduced in grade to E-zero, forfeits all pay and allowances, GI Bill benefits revoked and is drummed out of the service on pure BS charges. All this and more brought to you by the Shoes of Mother Blueā€™s Deep State. Never tell the emperor heā€™s naked.
  16. So buy up a 100 or so T-53s (Cirrus SR-20s) like they have at the Zoo, divide among RPA units & TA-DA! the ACE program is reborn. Of course under a whole new name so everyone thinks this is some brand new idea....
  17. He's already hired by a major and starts terminal leave next week.
  18. If your SOS was in residence you can get the credit transferred over with an official Air University transcript. Also credit available for WIC, AIS, PIT and a few other cats and dogs. As always, YMMV check with your local ERAU rep for details.
