  1. I think it was hilarious! Only because I've met so many people that were like that.
  2. Expand the TFI concept to allow 1-2 AGR spots in AD SQs. Sure, not a lot of true ANG/ARC guys would want to spend their days in an AD Sq, but if they all reported to a regional ARC commander instead of the AD SQ/cc then the AGR would have top cover from his boss on queep/infighting. This could kill many birds with one stone if you got someone that worked well and wanted to homebase there for a decade or so. It would Help manning at a cheaper cost, keep pilots in, and provide some continuity to AD squadrons that often need it. While I'm sure there would be one or two CCs that would feel threatened by someone with a long term relationship to the SQ, most would absolutely love to have someone on hand that could talk about past history, bad ideas that didn't work, projects that failed and were buried, and someone to help him with conflicts/relationships with other orgs and long-timers (civilians) on base. The guy would probably end up as a ridiculously experienced graybeard in the unit mission as well. Might also help calm/balance those rare 1/100 commanders that roll through and absolutely end up destroying a SQ.
  3. 1. It would be easier for the AF if we back-filled you with a UPT grad. Even a fresh one. Your community has pretty much screwed everything up in a major that you have been responsible for since at least 2013. Anyone else could do better. How have you not been fired? Oh wait, you are a product of the personnel system. 2. Ha, riiiiight. In between training days at the bowling alley. You know something is wrong in your world when you have to specifically emphasize that you had people work many hours for an event in order to support your argument. "Guys, no wait, listen...we actually had personnelists work for this. And not just any work. It was many hours of work. Trust me, this is going to blow your mind!" Wait for it......We will replace the outgoing IP/EP, stan eval chief types, and all the others leaving with 10-12 years of experience with UPT grads. Problem solved. Ok now that that's done, where are we going for training day? By the way, is anyone else just totally wiped out from all that work that we just did? You know what, skip the alley, let's just all high-five each other and go home.
  4. In the last crossflow, some of the former MAF guys fit in just fine, did very well, becoming FS/CC's. I think at least one guy went on to become an OG/CC. Obviously as well, some did not. The big kicker will be if the MAF WG/CC's are going to pick the #1 MAF stratted pilot, the best suited to get through the fighter training pipeline, or the best candidate that the upper level leadership would have chosen.
  5. If you have tdy/pcs orders, you're space R to where you're going. You have priority over leave, ptdy, space a., etc. it doesn't matter if you have commercial backup tickets.
  6. Reg says you have to start and end leave in the local area. Doesn't say you have to take leave if you aren't in the area you live/commute to work from. The pass section specifically prohibits mileage limits being set by CCs.
  7. Thank for the advice from those who went with NBKC. I've done lots of loans and used to have a rental home business. This was the best loan experience I've had, and we had some curveballs to throw our loan officer. 3.25 rate on a VA 30 year. My loan rep was Jackie Runk. Great to work with her. Always answered the phone or responded to my many phone calls.
  8. Anyone have any recent first or second hand experience retiring and then joining the reserves or guard. I heard of one or two people doing this since I first heard of the program advertised around 2007, but wasn't sure if there were any more recent examples. Wondering what the pain level might be for approval these days. I know the financial benefits might be negligible for doing it.
  9. To know if it's going up, all you have to do is read the versions of the proposed changes to the NDAA. If neither the Senate or House are pushing an increase, I doubt that someone is going to suddenly fight for one at the last second. From what I saw, the bonus authority for the services is just going to get extended a year, not go up. The bonus and aviation pay text is located in Title 37 section 334 C 1 B.
  10. FG has helped us out immensely in our unit through his postings here. Thanks.
  11. Bump. So what is the lifestyle there like these days. With guam having opened it sounds like life could be worse as far as deployments go. It sounds like preds have the bad locations and ops tempo from reading the UAV thread. Is the GH a different lifestyle?
  12. I'm going on a long TDY soon, and was told told by my future TDY boss that he is setting up either an apartment or hotel for me (OCONUS). If its an apartment (that has a kitchen I guess being the difference), he says that I can only claim partial per diem. I've never heard this. Anyone ever deal with this, and if so do you have a JFTR reference? I saw nothing in there with a quick read-through about this. Thanks.
