  1. AFPC says expect 8-12 weeks at SAF. This means I won’t make the training date my gaining unit had for me.
  2. When did you submit? Just curious how long it took to get to SAF. I submitted back in November. I have CMS access and was able to track it and ping the places that slow rolled it. Also, I asked for a 30 Mar 18 separation date to make the training date the unit requested for me.
  3. PC app just made it to SAF with approvals from everyone so far, intent to hire letter and training date. Cutting 3 months off PCS ADSC. how long is SAF taking these days?

  5. Well, that's exactly what's happening to me. I passed all the ancillary testing, but the waiver authority wants an MRI. I'm taking your response as, "I don't know bruh."

  7. Flt Docs... I'm attempting to return to fly after a long (3 years) DNIF. As part of the process, the optometrist discovered a disc to cup ratio greater than 0.4 and I did all the additional testing. Now ACS wants me to have a brain MRI done. Other issues that I'm getting waivers for: sleep apnea (barely), GERD, rheumatoid arthritis (bad diagnosis that drove original DNIF), hives (controlled with waiverable antihistamine), kidney stone (one time, no current issues). Any idea why I need the MRI?
  8. ALL, I've been DNIF for a few years and the docs are saying I can return to fly. The way the classification AFI reads, it seems that if my current community will release me back to the rated world, the community that needs a pilot from my year group can claim me. I no longer have a RDTM and would like to stay at my current location to fly it's aircraft. Has anyone experienced this to know how it would be handled?
  9. This is weird...was the investigation started 7 years ago or did someone just dig up some old email? Isn't there some kind of statute of limitations? I can think of a couple of emails I've sent/received that could be considered inappropriate but that nobody complained about.   12. My flight doc suspects I've got rheumatoid arthritis. He's referred me to an off-base clinic, but is he not supposed to send me to Brooks? Anybody else diagnosed with this and still flying?
  13. SAMMY = one of the fixes on HRT ILS 36 and a well known strip club in the panhandle. I have heard of other peeps at HRT doing this.

  15. So let me get this straight...AFSOC has so many pilots that they are letting them become MX officers? Is this why they won't let me have a white jet? This must also be why we kicked 9 pilots out of my wing on the last RIF board. Idiotic. I can't wait to get out.

  17. Again, couldn't agree more. I was pretty proud of the Command for our response to Haiti, particularly when we got ORI credit for it. I was not proud when every squadron CC was trying to find a way to get his airplane involved when there was no requirement for every capability HRT carries. Agree again...the time leading up to Desert One is a perfect example of being forward of the conventional forces with training and equipment because they needed to be, not because they could be.
  18. I'm surprised that there is any beef with what is going in at HRT. I never felt that it was different. I felt more blue in AFSOC than I ever did in ACC. Talking priorities...do we really need 33 Talon IIIs? We use an AMC C-17 when we really need to get stuff done. Where does the Talon fit into the future? If they can't figure out budgetary priorities based on real world threat and political environments, how can they decide if morale is important in a shrinking force structure. This is also a counter argument for "if he can't keep his sleeves down, he can't notch against an SU-27." Couldn't agree more. However, he has no problem with putting a tuck in his hat. The two leading members of the Senate Armed Services Committee have formally requested an estimate of the cost of terminating the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, according to a letter addressed to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta today. The letter comes from Sens. Carl Levin (D-MI) and John McCain (R-AZ), the chairman and ranking member of the committee, respectively. McCain has been especially critical of the F-35 program in recent months and failed in an effort to cancel the program during the committee's recent mark-up of the fiscal year 2012 defense authorization bill. In their letter, Levin and McCain request more information from the Defense Department about its reprogramming request -- submitted to Congress last week -- which asks permission to move $264 million from other accounts to pay for JSF overruns. The department also recently informed Congress it would need an additional $496 million to pay for cost overruns on Lots 1-3 of the F-35, a request that has raised alarm in the Senate Armed Services Committee. “The Committee is concerned about three quarters of a billion dollars in increases in these three contracts since last year," the letter reads. “That raises many questions that must be answered before a decision is made on this reprogramming, including . . . what would be our legal obligations and our costs if we were to terminate the F-35 program now.” The letter also asks Panetta to explain the department's legal obligation to pay for those increases; to discuss any alternatives to reprogramming funds to pay for unplanned F-35 costs; to provide more information on how these funds could be recovered in current or future contract negotiations; and to explain how DOD intends to avoid future cost overruns on the program, and specifically how it intends to avoid placing that financial obligation on taxpayers. -- Gabe Starosta
  20. IIRC, Donk was the commander of the 75th at the time. One of his Lts, 'Coke' Blocher, was the BALO (Advance 33) on the ground providing terminal attack clearance. I last saw Coke as an IFF instructor at Sheppard in 2006. Coke told us the story and showed us the video one night in the bar. I don't know where Coke is now, but he would be the best person to tell the story.
  21. Don't think it wasn't offered to AFSOC. I've said it before, just as the argument has been made that ACC is stuck in a Cold War mentality, AFSOC is stuck in a Desert One mentality. AFSOC's #1 priority is to recap it's C-130s.
  22. Skitzo, you're wrongly assuming anyone from AFSOC will ever fly this thing, much less a former 300hr wingman from a block 50 that's been outta the jet for 4 years. I'm betting that if any active duty dudes are going to fly it, ACC's going to pulling the block 40 FAC(A) qual'd dudes that are losing their jets due to BRAC or fleet retirement. More than likely it will be the BRAC'd A-10 units.
  23. CH, all true/valid points. Let the record reflect that I should have written, "...the Talon and Pave Low mafias..." This minor point does not change the fact that tribalism and parochialism prevent AFSOC from truly meeting the needs of the SOF community as a whole. Edited for spelling.
