  1. AFMAN 11-421. Para 6.2.6. You lose flight pay on the 365th day you're DNIF. I've seen a unit get hammered during an IG inspection for having multiple people that were past that point and still receiving flight pay. Not sure if they made them all pay it back.
  2. Actually it's not. The first amendment was the third in the original proposed Bill of Rights. The first two were not ratified at the time. https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/bill-of-rights-transcript
  3. I know a unit that did this... twice. I have both watches to prove it. They didn't end up doing the "track workouts instead of PT test" thing and I never linked either of my watches to anything the unit had access to. Still, I have two very nice, very expensive garmin watches to go with my endless supply of knives and sunglasses/shooting glasses.
  4. Divide the total number of selects by 12. That's how many should be promoted each month... of course they still haven't posted the last 2 months of this FY that should finish out the last of the previous board so who knows what's going on.
  5. Curious on the latest data on gastroesophageal reflux as far as waiver/DNIF goes. I've been told unofficially that I may have it by a well qualified family friend. I started having what I call really painfull hiccups, generally starting at the beginning of eating dinner, that would last for several minutes. A few times they've caused vomiting. Immediately after vomiting I feel completely fine. Symptoms are well controlled with Nexium. Before I go bring a concern to my flight doc I want to know what path I may be starting down. Thanks.
  6. I have an international stock fund and international bond fund in my portfolio just for this reason. Majority of my investment is in the US though.
  7. Looking for advice on short term investments. I've got a sizeable chunk of change from selling my house that I need to figure out what to do with. I'm going to be renting for the next couple years and then looking to buy again when the market has hopefully returned to sanity. Main concern is just not losing buying power to inflation but also want to make sure I'm not going to lose half of it in the next correction. Any advice?
  8. If you're talking about putting your spouse on the loan then it's no different than having just your name on it other than both your credit history's get checked. I've done both. If you're talking going in with a friend on a property i don't know but you may get extra questions about whether or not it really is going to be your primary residence.
  9. I did AMU military studies a few years back. Completely min ran it. Had to add my name and student ID to most of my posts to hit the word count. Professors didn't care as long as you submitted something. Even turned in the same papers to the same professor for two different classes and got the same grade in both. It is a bit above TA but for the lack of effort required it worked for me.
  10. There is a pseudo 5-year now in that you can opt out of IPZ consideration up to 3 times for specific circumstances. Once you complete your IPZ look however you can't Opt Out of your APZ look. Not the "5 year IPZ window" they promised but it may be useful for some people. Data on MyPers. The ‘Opt Out’ authority allows officers in the grade of captain through lieutenant colonel to request to opt out of promotion consideration to the next higher grade for one or more of the following reasons: To allow an officer to complete a broadening assignment; or To allow an officer to complete a Department of the Air Force-funded resident graduate-level education program (e.g. Masters or PhD); or To allow an officer to complete a career progression requirement, the accomplishment of which has been delayed by either a broadening assignment, a Department of the Air Force-funded resident graduate-level education program, or crossflow to a new career field; or To allow an officer to complete another assignment of significant value to the Department of the Air Force
  11. If you reject continuation your existing ADSCs don't matter anymore though there may be consequences for GI bill transfer and others potentially. If you accept continuation then you are still on the hook for any ADSCs up to the expiration of your continuation. Once you run out of ADSCs then continuation doesn't force you to stay in
  12. I'm up for my first non select this board too.
  13. Do they typically notify non selects first or is it just random?
  14. Zombie thread time... Just got word I'll be getting orders to Langley. Looking for advice on where to live. I'd like to be under 45 minutes on the commute. I'm also married with two elementary school age kids so looking for advice on good private schools in the area.
  15. I wouldn't plan on getting out of an ADSC with current pilot manning. Though, based on the bonus this year, the crisis has clearly been solved. Remember, release from ADSC is not a financial decision for the AF. Offering to pay back anything doesn't necessarily increase your likelihood of approval. Have you tried calling the unit and explaining your situation? They may not be willing to tell you your standing yet but they might at least recommend a course of action (though that would pretty much tell you where you ranked). It doesn't sound like you have any idea of your actual odds and are just going off blind probability.
