  1. I have bad news for you and your daughter. They no longer have those. They have some khaki caps with AFA, and some blue caps with "women's soccer." If you get me an email we can work it offline.
  2. I can run over to gift shop tomorrow and see if they still have in stock. I need to buy some t shirts anyway. Lemme know
  3. I'm retiring. I've always been told you can't use the 20 day separation persmissive TYD if you have a job. More specifically, you can't be permissive TDY while working at a new job. When I check afi, I didn't see anything about that restriction. Any guidance? Really not a big deal either way, I just want to know the answer. Thanks
  4. Rumor confirmed with the man himself yesterday. Failed 3 classes.
  5. I have seen the eat your own, didn't occur to me it would bleed into court as well. I once sat on a retention board with two Lts, both of whom had a chunk of E time. We retained the guy, my assessment at the time was that two standard 23ish Lt's wouldn't have seen the big picture the way these two did.
  6. I have actually never heard this before, what's the rationale?
  7. Why would they take your cell phone and why is that legal?
  8. One day they were checking insurance. As I was on a bike this involved a little work (I keep it under the seat). When I asked why I was told it was a RAM. I didn't know terrorists couldn't get insurance.
  9. I was out for a jog one lovely morning on Laughlin AFB. I hear a shout and turn around. There's a seriously out of breath cop yelling me over. I'm of the darker persuasion....he saw me running along the fence line and thought I was a border crosser. Thank god he didn't have a dog.
  10. I hear they're looking at adding an FE station to the Hornet.
  11. Well, I've only had a few interactions with the CC, but I will say I failed to find his officership inspiring.
  12. It's kinda sorta required at SWA. No one else cares (so far as I can tell). So, if you want to work for Southwest, it makes sense. If you don't, doesn't really matter.
  13. I can absolutely guarantee any amount of money saved by catching the one dude who's cheating on his BAH (though I'm still unsure how this will catch anyone) will be dwarfed by the metric ass-ton of man hours lost by having the entire Air Force stop what they are doing, find the documentation, go to FSS and be immediately and efficiently helped. Sort of made up the last part. Kind of impressive really, someone measurably reduced the productivity of the entire USAF active duty work force...for an OPR bullet.
  14. Isn't that what DEERS is for? I seem to recall dropping off birth and marriage certificates. And a bunch of other stuff.
  15. I can't argue with C-21. I spent a lot of money on my ATP, very happy with what I did as it completely met my needs/constraints. That said, APT is a box to check. So far as I can tell, it's an idiotic box to check. Therefore doing it with the least amount of money spent is utterly and completely the smartest choice. Find the cheapest place that you know you'll pass.

  17. It's relative. I've worked with FGO Army aviators, their hours were about the same as a heavy guy after one assignment. Army O's just don't fly. As for AF flying--luck and timing. I've never had a non-flying assignment.
  18. I so used to love this thread. I'm sad
  19. Meh. Cadets aren't allowed facial hair by their regs.. Message had two faces. 1. Don't violate standards--checks with CSAF guidance (I think, based on what I've read here anyway). 2. And, you're not allowed to play. Reminds me of pulling into Salem. Had fun there but was taken aback at otherwise excellent aircrew brochure. The first first item was about the fact that morale patches were not authorized. I could really care less, but how the heck was the that the first thing new aircrew needed to know? Crap, I hate staches. Sort of feel compelled to grow one now. We'll see if I remember in morn.
  20. Meanwhile... The CSAF’s “March Mustache Challenge” will not be embraced at USAFA. The cadets WILL NOT be participating, and all permanent party have been reminded that we are about standards and nothing in this challenge will ask us or allow us to break those standards. Apparently a number of MAJCOM commanders have come out and specifically said, “Our command is not participating.”
  21. Now I'm confused, I thought ME was ME. I thought the only issue was taking your checkride in an ME aircraft that wasn't centerline thrust?
  22. Did FTI in Denver, we were their first ATP class. ~$4700, uses United's 737-300 sim, taught by United guys. Two thoughts: 1. Worth it for me, solid program 2. For not a lot more you can get the ATP and type, really makes the most sense bang for buck. I needed it right now and didn't have the time for the type and SWA, while a great place, isn't one of my top targeted airlines. That said, all I had time for was this, and they were up the road and great working with my schedule. I day academics then 3 sims, 4 hours each. Then check. Check was legit, but they got us completely ready for it--they are good at what they do. The instruction was really rather impressive, truth be told. Syllabus was basically a cut down ATP/type syllabus. It worked, but they've already made some changes that will make a pretty good program better. Kind of spendy, but I got to sleep in my own bed every night. Also, the 16 hours of 737 time felt more useful to me than time in seminole. And if, knock on wood, United calls, I've already flown the sim. Happy to answer PMs, but I'm not really holding anything back.
  23. .....Cannon, Creech, Hollaman, Big Fork, white jet bases.... Far as I know a 13S stays a 13S, where as an 11M C17 driver "can" go do all kinds of other fun stuff that doesn't involve C17s
