  1. I also know for a fact that the FSDO in Lincoln, NE will give issue the type rating no questions asked if you have the 2 Form 8's and the 8710.
  2. You get a B707/B720 type rating. I am guessing it doesn't hurt with civiallian employment and would definitely look at it as a resume builder (heavy jet type ratings are always good), I have not tested that theory out yet. I personally went back to the same job that I was working at before pilot training. On the 10 hours of PIC time, I looked at that as a civillian requirement to get a type rating. I didn't have 10 hours of PIC time in the Beechjet either but you get type rated in that also. I went to the Des Moines, IA FSDO and they didn't even ask about the 10 hours.
  3. Yes you do, take the form 8 from the aircraft checkride, the form 8 from the sim check ride, and a completed 8710 to your local FSDO and they'll hook you up. I did this about a month ago fwiw.
  4. A B-2 was dropped to a XL 07-01 stud.
  5. The AFPC UPT drop list for fiscal year 2007 had like 4 (might have been 2) B-2 positions, one went to a guy in 07-01 at Laughlin. They are dropped more often than Brabus indicates.
  6. That would be a complete dick thing to do, and you would burn any bridges that you currently have at that unit. Additionally you would become an asset of that unit and just because you apply for a transfer to AD doesn't mean that they will approve it.
  7. The team sortie was a fun flight but we could only fly one approach to a full stop. So in my opinion the training received was pretty minimal.

    Dobbins info

For what its worth my roomate from pilot training is there now for initial qual. There is approximately six people in his class.
  9. Should I receive DLA as a single guard guy with no dependents that PCS'd to UPT then PCS'd home afterwards? If it matters I lived in the duplexs at DLF. I read the DLA facts that is linked from the baseops homepage and I couldn't determine if I was eligible or not. Finance back home is giving me the runaround as well by saying they aren't sure if I should receive it either. [ 05. February 2007, 11:14: Message edited by: pcgoeken ]

  11. Bergman, Sounds like you found the perfect unit to transfer too, you are probably fitting right in.
  12. 147th FW was realigned to receive Predators, I doubt they are still hiring into the F-16 but maybe.
  13. As a new traditional guardsmen LT back to a tanker squadron after UPT would it be realistic to attend graduate school, probably on a part time basis, but also interested in maybe going to school full time. I am not really interested in an online degree at this time. Also, does anyone know if the guard will help pay for graduate school. It is the state of Iowa if that helps. FWIW I sent a email to the unit retention manager about a week ago but have not heard back from him yet.

    Pilot watches

At Laughlin they didn't issue us a watch (class 07-02), I was tired of always hacking my watch so I went out and bought a Casio that receives a time update 4 times per day via radio signal, would recommend this path. Getting yelled at for stupid stuff like a bad time hack sucks, and setting your watch every morning also sucks.
  15. Can a backpack be used or does everyone in your flight have to be "standardized?" [ 21. March 2006, 22:14: Message edited by: pcgoeken ]
  16. Fast machine + long legs + uncomfortable seat= me not being interested in long cross countries. [ 09. January 2006, 21:36: Message edited by: pcgoeken ]
  17. If you have met all the time requirements and have passed the written is it possible to get your ATP during your T-1 checkride. Will the FAA give you the equivalency rating like they do with the Commercial, Instrument, and Multiengine ratings. [ 28. July 2005, 15:19: Message edited by: pcgoeken ]
  18. I have never heard of a heavy to figher transition, but if it has happened i would like to hear about it. From fighter to heavy what happens is all the pilots get the option of trying to find a new unit or cross training into heavies.
