    Pilot Board Application Video

With it being an A-10 unit, should he put his junk on display or not?

    Promotion and PRF Information

Read 10 USC 1174. Submitting a “do not promote me letter” is enough to lose your eligibility for Separation Pay. The letter does not have to be the reason the Board chose not to select you.

First the anal warts you got from the F-15 crew chief and now this? Ouch.
  4. You’re still receiving flight pay, BAH, BAS, potentially a bonus, and your eventual retirement check is going up 2.5% of your base pay for every year past 20. So it’s more like you’re working for 2/3s. That said, the only way I’d consider staying in past 20 is if I thought there was a high likelihood of not being able to maintain an FAA medical or if there was a likely downturn in pilot hiring (God forbid they allow single pilot ops, but if it happened the airline gravy train would run out).
  5. So I was just reading the PCSM, and this jumped out at me. The guys who signed the 2-year bonus last year are allowed to renegotiate under Tiers 1, 3, or 4 for their airframe. The guys who signed the 1-year option, however, fall under Tier 6, meaning their only option is 22-24 YAS. I thought the 1-year option was advertised as a good faith move on the part of big blue. Instead they totally fvcked those guys over by forcing them to stick around past 20 years. Doesn’t affect me directly but one of my friends had been strongly contemplating the 1-year deal so as to be able to 7-day opt a 365. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, you’re just a number to Goldfein, Grosso, and in my personal experience, anyone above my OG/CC.
  6. If I remember correctly, there was a focus group of random pilots (yeah right) that met with CSAF and told him that.

    Increasing SUPT Commitment

Increasing the commitment is a terrible idea. As was stated before, it causes bitterness and resentment which in turn lead to a lack of motivation and productivity. The answer is really quite simple. Eliminate non-flying deployments (I have now done two where there was no reason to have a pilot filling the position). Cut the queep, even if it means hiring an extra 5-10 support personnel per squadron. Increase our pay so that it at least approaches what the airlines offer (with no ADSC). If we were pulling in say 200k as an O-4 and 250 as an O-5, there would be a lot fewer people running for the door. Guess what? Over nine years past your initial ADSC, that would cost the Air Force an extra ~500k (over current bonus amounts) to get a guy to stay til 20. That seems like a fvcking bargain compared to producing an extra 1000 pilots a year.

    Heavy guys instructing T-38s

So how do you justify T-38 FAIPs?
  9. “Goldfein, who spoke to Air Force Times June 2 and 3 during his trip to the 2018 Warrior Games at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, said the Air Force has a list of 69 different initiatives to fix the pilot shortfall.” Is the first initiative getting rid of Green Dot and permitting 69 jokes again?

What is right with the Air Force

What the fvck did I just read on there? Isn’t the first step to recovery admitting you have a problem? Also, no FGO is “poisoning the well;” our leadership has already done that. I don’t go out of my way to complain in front of Lts, but I’m totally frank with them when they ask questions.

The reason it’s taking so long is because they’ve been meticulously examining the records of every 1APZ to ensure that Duck isn’t accidentally passed over a second time, resulting in his freedom.

    Couldn’t they re-pin it?

    Promotion and PRF Information

I am 99.69% certain that promotion boards are not given any access to any aspect of your medical records. Check PRDA for your selection folder, that’s what the board sees, and there is no way your medical records are included.

  15. More importantly, Social Security stops after ~130k in income. Based on my rough math, with the lump sum I may be paying an extra 2% in federal taxes on 35k of my income, but saving 6% on 70k of it.
