  1. If there was a field grade snacko position advertised, the line would be out the door.
  2. Points on a mortgage are also deductable as long as you meet the handful of criteria they give you in Pub 530
  3. Bad logic. I've seen plenty of crappy clubs that won Air Force level "O'club of the year" and/or "Services squadron of the Year" Not a safe assuption that Mtn Home "can't be too bad" based on: 1) you admittedly haven't been there 2) assumption based on an Air Force award. Some people loved their time at Mtn Home, some didn't. If you go there to fly, you'll probably have fun -- the ranges rock, and some of the F-15Es have the big engines. Then you're faced with the decision (pretty easy in my opinion) to live in the town of Mtn home (short drive - sucky town) or Boise (long drive - much better entertainment options). Cheers [ 24. 4. <Sarcasm on> The Blue Angels aren't from Nellis <Sarcasm off>
  5. Ask cadet George Sondecker the 4th.
  6. And I think we're starting up car washes on Saturdays.
  7. Scrap the Thunderbirds and get a team of her and seven of her peers and put 'em on tour. You'll save millions and still recruit enough for mama blue. I'd like to be a crew chief on one of those sweet rides. AFSO 21 -- Go.
  8. Nice work... I love it. "All I have to do is call" Great stuff. [ 16. December 2006, 22:30: Message edited by: F-15E WSO ]
  9. You can live just West of the base in Rosamond if you don't want to deal with the lawn nazis.
  10. Strong stuff. Thank you! I hope that slide show propagates around the country and opens some eyes.
  11. Standard discussion of who wears their ribbons on what uniforms. You'll rarely see Os wearing ribbons on their blues shirts, but they will on their service dress. The Os that I've seen wear them on their blues shirts were prior enlisted.
  12. Too much money? Hookers and Blow. Hookers and Blow.
  13. Nothing wrong with swearing on the tape. You just need a sense of humor. Tape's a great thing. You just need a sense of humility. You should learn a lot in your debriefs and the tape is a great device to capture what happened so you can recreate critical portions of attacks / engagements and find errors and learn from them. Thick skin + no excuses = good.
  14. From: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006410086,00.html The Nimrod was just three minutes from safety when it was brought down by a catastrophic on-board fire. The pilot battled to land on an airstrip before the £50million jet ditched in a massive fireball. Shaken air traffic controllers heard the desperate last 60 seconds over the radio as the crew broadcast a series of harrowing Mayday calls. The RAF’s Nimrod fleet is grounded pending an inquiry. Chilling details of the plane’s final moments emerged as a probe began. Fire warning detectors went off at the cruising altitude of 25,000ft and the plane plunged in a desperate dive for safety. But the pilot lost his fight to land as fire engulfed the fuselage, disabling the controls. The jet crashed in the village of Chalaghor — just miles from Kandahar Airbase’s western perimeter fence.
  15. Cheers boys. Thanks for the effort. I'm extremely bummed that we've lost another jet in such a short period. Godspeed!
  16. Like everything - It depends. I'd call and ask your new boss. They'll probably tell you be ready to go to work on Monday. Checking into Billeting on Saturday will count as "Reporting Not LATER Than" 30 Sept.
  17. You get 10 days house hunting if you do it ahead of time, or 8 days if you do it in conjunction with your PCS. Commander may give you more time off -- I don't know. Don't think of it as free leave. Think of it as time the boss wants you to take and try to get squared away so you're ready for training. Finance will pay you based on how far you have to travel. If they say it takes 3 days to get from where you are to Randolph, that's how many days per diem you'll get -- even if you take a week to get there. Random google search provided the below from militaryhomesforsale.com Permissive TDY for house hunting As a service member, you are entitled to Permissive TDY for house hunting. You can take this either prior to your PCS or after you arrive at your new duty station. If you choose to house hunt prior to your PCS, you can receive up to 10 days Permissive; if you choose to house hunt after your PCS, you can receive up to 8 days Permissive. This must be requested with standard leave paperwork and signed by your supervisor. These Permissive TDY days do NOT count against your leave.
  18. Oh my gay, I hope that Hirohito buys two, so he can poke both of his eyes out. He's probably going to be on an upcoming fashion makeover show.
  19. Why why why??? http://www.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/pho...F-2820P-001.JPG http://www.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/pho...F-2820P-032.JPG Why does anyone think this is a good idea? Why would you invite the media? I guess they do give you a lobotomy when you make Major. [ 01. June 2006, 21:37: Message edited by: F-15E WSO ]
  20. CAPES cancelled all of their classes for FY 06 and JACS also. You shouldn't feel bad or complain about having to explain something to some young viper dude. He's a young viper dude! He's going to be ignorant on a lot of things. His job is to stay visual, hit his target and shoot down who his flight lead tells him to. Having a DACT fight while you're within visual range of a B-1 should be a great learning experience for everyone involved. If you're an instructor, be an instructor. Wade through the ego of the young viper dude, take the time to teach him something, and press. You can probably learn something from him too.
  21. I hope you still bought drinks at your reception!
  22. Yeah, You gotta be careful, nothing worse than getting ready for a pond crossing, stashing all of your shit in the cockpit, getting "comfortable" in your poopie suit and looking down at #4,3, and 2 with their RMOs in the air. "Damn!" where did I put that thing? If it's still in your flight suit pocket under your poopie suit, you'll be working hard to get to it in time. If it's in your arm pen pocket, you're pretty much screwed.
  23. I've spent 4 years driving in snowy places with 2 wheel drive cars with no problems. I do recommend that you get front wheel drive.
  24. Capturing guys without killing them is the exception from a fighter / attack aircraft. Even in the non-traditional ISR role many of us find ourselves, it's the exception. I have talked ground troops to a suspected bad guy who was hiding in a ditch, and I've got a handful of friends that have done the same. Very satisfying -- not the norm. Sorry, but if I just watched you and your buddies set up and fire a mortar / rocket at Balad, I'd feel pretty justified in taking you out of the gene pool.
