  1. Honestly, you can speed off to SERE and RTU right after graduation, or you can be waiting around a couple of months before going anywhere. Only time will tell. I had friends that waited a month before leaving for SERE. I had another friend that graduated in July and left for SERE in October. My husband left 6 days after graduation for SERE. I get the phases mixed up, but I would not plan on any time off between phase II and phase III. That year will be vacationless, unless you decide to get married over the holiday break.
  2. I'm sorry, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not... but, since I have seen first hand AF officers being disresepectful towards the Nathional Athem, during retreat, and on base, this is why I asked if it was OK or not.
  3. OK, so yesterday I was at the base park with the kiddos I was watching. Retreat came on. All kids stopped what they were doing, and stood at attention. When the National Anthem came on, we all put out hand over our hearts. I look over yonder, and guess what I see? I see guys in the pic-nic BBQ area (it has a roof), in uniform, standing up (yeah!) but they didn't solute nor did they put their hand over their hearts either.. WTF gives? If the little 2yr old can stay still for the WHOLE NA, with her hand over her heart, why can't these Lts-Capts do the same? Now, I will let it go is someone can tell me that they were in the OK because they were under a roof?

    Cross Fit

I've done P90X a few times.. and Tony Horton reminds us of a dude in my husband's class :) The way he talks, acts, and his antics when he does the worksouts and what have you...
  5. Do you, experienced pilots, think that they whole crew should be charged? If the pilot had the oppertunity to land the plane on land... and decided to "pray" or whatever he did.. and crashed into the ocean... shouldn't that fall on his shoulders? I, again, do not know the ins and outs of planes.. but cant a gauge be faulty? and start acting faulty after a few times of use? Or in the middle of being used? Yes, living with me can be quite fun since I ask all these "why? When? Where? How?" questions :-)
  6. I am not a pilot/pilot-trainee, therefore I know jack about the act of piloting.... That being said: Why is the whole crew being punished? If the pilot(s) had the means to land the plane, and for whatever reason chose not to, why punish the WHOLE crew? The whole crew wasn't flying the plane, just the pilot(s). Now, if the pilot(s) had "saved the day" something just tells me that only the pilot(s) would be given the credit.. and the rest of the crew would be going about their day... Anyone have any possible insight to this?
  7. Kaiser in Vallejo is the BIG BIG BIG hospital in the bay area! I LOVE Kaiser! I would work there in a HEART BEAT! Plus, depending on where you go after Travis, there are some Kaisers in other states. Yes, they stay to the West Coast.. I think the furthest "east" is maybe, CO. Hell, there is even a Kaiser in Hawaii! Kaiser is union, Kaiser can help to contin. education programs. Kaiser offeres so much more then Sutter, in my opinion... Again, I am biased.

    Gun Talk

Ok, so I have a funny story... My husband got a gun for graduation.. yeah! Well, he left a week later.. boo! well, the gun is in a locked box-thingy.. it didn't dawn on me till he was killing the bunny, that I didn't know the "code" to open the box-thingy. So, we're talking and I say "Ya know, we have a gun for "home security" yet, I don't even know that code to open the box-thingy! What am i supposed to do? throw the box-thingy at an intruder and hope it does something?"--Now, I'm laughing as I say this, because I find this funny! Poor husband told me the code, and then said "Um, do you even know anything about guns?" Me:"Nope!"--I'm still laughing... Husband: "Well, we'll have to change that.." Me: "Yeah, I think that would be a good idea, otherwise you might end up wife-less!" Husband: "That might not be a bad idea......." hehehe..
  9. I'm on a wifey board, and a chick on there was told by her husband (AD army, I think) that Obama cut the GI Bill. I tried finding something, and I came up with nothing.. So I posted in here, since you guys are amazing at finding information :-)
  10. Hey, has anyone heard if Obama is going to cut the new GI Bill?
  11. My Husband did pay the kicker back when he was in BMT in 98. He has used the bill once, and still has time/money on it. With the post 9/11 GI bill, you are supposed to be able to transfer it to your spouse or children.
  12. Sorry for this question, my husband is currently killing a bunny/rooster.. I know that this question has nothing to do with TA, but it does have to deal with the GI bill... I went to the Post 9/11 GI bill info site, and it said "No longer accepting Applications, please check back.." How does the GI Bill work? I guessed that if you qualified for the GI Bill, that you just got it.. is that not the case?
  13. If you are gonna send him that far, he might as well look at Blackhawk (this is the city I would live in if I was Rich.. lots of professional sportsmen live here) too... I absolutly LOVE Benicia. The schools are amazing, the people are nice, down town every thursday from 5-8ish is a farmer's market. During the summer they have the Peddler's fair, and the speed boat races.. Down town is awesome, and if you go up towards Rose Drive, you'll have the big neighborhoods.. that have two schools, Matthew Turner and Henderson. Turner is maybe 15 yrs old, and Henderson has been around over 25yrs. Then, everyone goes to Benicia Middle School, and then Benicia High ( GO PANTHERS!). We lived in Suisun City before moving to AZ. What areas are you looking at? The houses around Hacienda are OK. They aren't the best and the newest, but the neighborhood is pretty chill. There is also a HUGE park. Not to mention that Suisun City also has a down town "marina" that is very peaceful and relaxing.
  14. How opposed are you of a drive? Davis is 30mins East, and is a great location. Benicia is 30-45minutes West, and is AMAZING! OK, so I'm very biased. I grew up there. You have Winters, West Sac, Cordillia, Suisun City, and Fairfield Hills.
  15. VN 09-06 Assignment Night T-38: MC-12 T-6 FAIP B-52 Barksdale F-15e Seymour Johnson MQ-1 Creech T-1: MC-12 C-5 Travis KC-135 Fairchild MQ-1 Creech C-17 McChord C-17 Travis E-8 Robins T-1 FAIP C-17 Charleston U-28 Hurlbert MQ-1 Cannon x 2 C-17 Hickam
  16. If you can afford it, Lufthansa Airlines, is also amazing. They are the number one importing/exporting airliner when it comes to pets, due to people buying German Shepherds, Rotties, Malinois, and Dobes, just to name a few. I want to say that they have a vet on staff at their locations. They will not fly animals between June and September/October-ish because of the weather.
  17. From my understanding, you will do both co-pilot and pilot seat training, which is about 5 months. Jughead: I am staying at Vance. My husband went and spoke with Pinnacle, and they said that me staying was OK. He made them write a letter stating that, too!
  18. I think this question might go here... my husband is going to Altus. He's RNTD is in March. It's a TDY in route (no surpirse there). I have known spouses who stayed in Enid while the other went to Altus, but they lived off base, so it didn't matter if they "out processed" from Vance or not. We live on base... What's going to happened? The time is right in the middle of my school semester. Who do we talk to, to make sure (if possible) that I can stay on base? We have three huge dogs, other wise we would get an appartment off base, and call it good... but Enid is NOT dog friendly. Thanks!
  19. I couldn't agree more. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall watching this spouse read his response. I think that would have been priceless
  20. Tricare prime is a good deal, just not for eyes or dental (which is UC). Last year, I was sent to a Neurologist, had MRI's/MRA's and a full plannel of blood work done, and I didn't pay a cent. Not to mention all the freaking migraine and preventitive meds that I didn't have to pay out of pocket for! Every Pro has a Con.. As for dental, I paid close to $600 for a root canal and crown. A friend's aunt just had one, and with no insurence, she paid $1000. That's a $400 difference that deffinitly makes me question why I even pay for UC in the first place. And, their "emergency procedure" policy SUCKS ASS! Plus, teh Customer Service for UC is HORRID!
  21. There are different places you can go, that will be cheap. wal-mart, costco, target, sam's club, just to name a few main places. Depending on how big the base is where you are at, you can see if the glasses place in the BX can do contacts as well. Wait till you see how much you have to pay out of pocket for dental!
  22. I live a few streets away from the train tracks, and I hear that damn thing every time it goes by and blows the horn (sts?)... one night, i swear to God, he laid on the horn for 2minutes every 2minutes! I was NOT a happy camper! But, you are talking to someone who, at 12am, can hear the exerises the SP's do at the front gate.
  23. All I can do is chuckle at that.... Jeff, Someone suggested joining the OSC thats on the Naval Base. I don't know, we'll see!
