    Gun Talk

See, that's the problem, this is going to be his christmas gift. I honestly don't think he even knows what he wants. He told me to talk to our old roomie who is huge into guns, but that man is damn near impossible to get a hold of! Which is why I came on here! I think his reasoning for wanted the 92F is because it is what the AF does their hand gun tests with. Otherwise, I think he's open to any type of gun.. I will check out the two sites you listed, and go from there.. Thank you! Edited to add: Not gonna lie, the XD series is rather scary looking..! (I'm such a whimp!)

    Gun Talk

Ok guys, I have tried to read and understand what some of you are saying about which guns are good and which one(s) isn't... I made it through page 5 before it all turned into Latin. Here is the deal: The Hubster wants a gun. He was mentioned the Beretta(sp?) 92F (I think)--it's the gun that the AF uses.. Well, the gist that I got from 5 pages of reading is Beretta is not so good(?) What would be a good, decent gun to get him, that is similar to the 92F? Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry I need a translater :-) Cheerio!

I think Col. Nowalnd and some other high rankers did the same thing.
  4. I suggest that you live on base. You can walk to work, which will save you money and keep miles off your car/turck. You only have a 5 minute walk to work when you have to be there at 5am. And a 5 minute walk home after being at work for 12 hrs. Are you really going to want to move off base in the middle of UPT? Moving in general is a pain in the ass.. But moving while in UPT, that's an even bigger pain in the ass, if you ask me.
  5. Please excuse my ignorence when it comes to this question: I thought -17's were at Travis years ago? My husband was a C-5 FCC stationed at Travis (this is where we met!). I would have sworn that he told me that Travis had -5s, -10s, and -17s.. and this was... um... 5yrs ago... ???
  6. I'm losing my eye sight from reading all these threads on this forum! Here is Stupid wife Question #1,837 Is there an AD C-17 Base in Alaska? If so, is there a reason there hasn't been any drops to this location from UPT? Or, is this something that you have to "ask" for like -130's and U-28's? Thanks is advance guys!

  8. I was a senoir in high school in CA. I didn't know what was going on until my second period class.. which was at 8:50am. The Class clown in my first period class asked our econ teacher if we could talk about what happened.. and my teacher said "No, this probably affects me more then anyone else.. my sister is a United Airlines flight attendent, and we don't know where she is.." -- I asked the guy next to me if he knew what they were talking about.. and he had no clue.. So I go to my next class.. in I walk (I'm always early) and the TV is on, and my Teacher is balling... I watched the TV some and put two and two together. I guess you could say I was kinda numb after that.. My Husband was on a mission in Spain when 9/11 happened.
  9. I saw a lot of people in blues on Monday.. including the lab techs (I had to have a few viles of my blood taken) Now, I understand why you flyboys think you shouldn't have to wear blues; but same goes for lab techs! I think I was told that the only people not in blues were the Logistics..
  10. For spouses: What did you wear that night of Graduation? I have heard that people will wear everything from Sunday best (Which, is a bad example to use, since some people do go to church in Jeans and a button down shirt.. and somehow I doubt that would go over very well...) to formal, prom, bridesmiad's dresses. I am rather confused as to what to wear. I want to look nice.. When I went to the T1 spouse meeting, a good food for thought was this: Flight Suit: You wear casual. Blues: You wear business casual. Mess Dress: You weaar formal. and yet I hear "You can wear the 'little black dress'" and that just doesn't seem dressy enough??!?!?!?! TIA
  11. Are they actually defending it, or are they simply saying "STFU--put the blues on, and do your damn job, and get on with your life..?" BENDER= STOP getting into trouble... :-)
  12. stupid wife question! Is it possible for Hickam to get more -17's? or are they "stuck" at 8 -17's?
  13. My husband got word on Friday that his squadron at Vance will be going to Blues Mondays as well--starting September 8th.
  14. 09-07 VN track Select 3-T-38's 2-Helo's 4 or 5-T'44's rest were T-1's
  15. I doubt it. My Husband's class had 4 Captains, and once you were in the flight room, they called the IPs/FAIPS "sir/ma'am" no matter if they (The Capt.) out ranked the IP/FAIP. Outside though, the IP/FAIP would salute the Capt.
  16. If they don't have what KM said above, Ediger's here in Enid has sweetheart Wings.. Ediger's Diamonds Limited (580) 237-2101
  17. The odd thing is: They wanted to FAIP up until a couple of weeks ago... and then they went anti-FAIP.. I don't know what happened to change his/their mind... :-/
  18. The husband took the news... everyone knew he wasn't happy, but he didn't cry like the guy did in March/April. he just shrugged it off... but, I said "congrats" to him then left him with his family and went on to babysitting Drunk Studs and roofstomping the WC's house.... I agree about what you said about "it's better to be an IP's wife then student's wife.." That is the one and only thing I actually hate about this whole experience. Being a student wife. Being kept on a leash from other wives--some more so then others but still, there is a stigma around.
  19. Toro, I'm not too sure how to respond *shrugs shoulders*. I don't know all the facts or the nitty gritty as to why he got FAIPed, I just wanted to know what I could do, as a friend, to help the wife more-so then the husband :-( and if anyone had any advice, if they were in a similar situation...
  20. I have an "odd" question.. Some friends of ours FAIPed, and they aren't happy about it at all... I want to be a good friend, and be there for them.. I just don't know what to say to them... I'm at a loss.. So, for any of you FAIPs out there that did NOT want to be FAIPed, what did your friends do, besides get you drunk, to help you over this hurdle?
  21. Married: The Wife Single: Parents/Grandparents/aunt/uncle Girlfriend: buy her the "Sweetehart" wings, but parents get the real deal if she isn't living with you... if she is living with you, then honestly, I don't know. That's your call to make. Fiance': Read "Girlfriend" But, that's from a wife's point of view.
  22. I've said that, and wasn't to "psyche" them out either, it's just my personal opinion. But, just because I think it's a bad idea, doesn't mean that I'm going to force that opinion on others. "To each their own" is a very good saying to remember, it pretty much applies to every situation.
  23. Was there a Salotti in the class?
  24. I have family there. Now, I haven't been home in 3yrs... from what I remember though, it sucks. Yuba City has, I think, the highest unemployment rate. But, depending on if you want to commute or night, you have Winters, Sacramento, Chico, Paradise Valley, and a couple other cities near by that are a lot better then the Yuba City/Marysville. California, in general, is over populated, but full of wonderful drivers! I know that near Travis, people weren't military friendly, with Marysville/Yuba City, I don't know.. across from where my parents live, a lot of new town houses/houses were built. Be ready to pass your neighbor a cup of sugar through a window--the houses are that close together! Yuba City High school has their Prom in the mall's food court. OH! and the best news, there's an In-N-Out!!!!
