  1. Can’t remember the last time I was here, but I had to share. Here in my unit (AMC) we just had two guys this last week opt to separate vs taking some bs staff 365. Both these guys had 18 years in... and they opted out! The AF needs to get its head out of its a$$, take a hard look at what is truly needed from a deployed perspective. The mission creep/COCOM CCs unwilling to make the needed cuts will continue to decimate AF pilot resources when they have a choice. AMC screwed the pooch when it agreed to take extra deployments for ACC/Special Ops... the robbing Peter to pay Paul is going to create the same problems in AMC. Treat the problem, not the symptom, smh.
  2. Hey guys, just wanted to say that based on the recommendations provided here, I checked out NBoKC. They were professional and provided a great rate on my refi. Overall, a great experience!
  3. The 11M group that could sign this year was/is eligible.
  4. Just heard "unofficially" that we can expect the bonus to not be available to AMC pilots this year (this tidbit was briefed at ACSC today, then backed up by a person I know at A1). Let the AF egress floodgates open!
  5. Ok, so I just heard that my Wg/CC will resist any attempt to get out by his 11M members, due to his perception that we are "critically manned." Whether or not he can actually do this, the perception is created that members who volunteer to VSP or introduce a DNR letter in a RIF are not "team players." Anyone else hearing things from their leadership that is running counter to Big Blue's force shaping initiatives?
  6. Page after page of inane discussion on FEs... Can someone shed some light on what actually happened at KDOV?
  7. I'm sure I am just a bad apple, but in the last month I have not worn a reflective belt once in CC. No one has said a word and I am definitely not alone. Culture change from the ground up!
  8. This just in, the threshold rule (men entering women's rooms and vice versa) has be rescinded. Eerily, this is not a big deal out here... almost like this place has "normalized."
  9. Nothing surprising here, but yesterday I made the trek from CC to the BPC in order to get a wireless signal that was not directly in the 120 degree heat. As I cross over into the BPC I head to the first dormitory I see to get out of the blazing sun. When I enter, the halls & common areas are quiet, there is not a soul in this place. Sofas & chairs all unoccupied. I sit down for 3 min and while I do this a person in civilian clothes walks by, stops, and asks me "are you a resident of this dorm?" I reply no and he tells me to get out. I calmly respond that no one is here and there is no sign that I can see that tells me I can't be in there. He tells me that Chief slpanutz has released a policy prohibiting my being there and if I have a problem with it that his name is LTC Cherry. Deid Leadership 1 common sense 0. It cost him nothing to leave me be. I was not unruly nor was I taking anything from him. Like I said, I am not surprised, but maybe just a bit disheartened that people like this make it to LTC.
  10. Ahh, the o'le wrath of the scheduler... I would say there is a fine line between harassing and massaging a scheduler. To be honest, I have never been above bribery (I'm not kidding). Actions like stopping by the scheduling desk at lunch and seeing what they want, or bringing them a beer at the end of the day, that’s what you want to do. Small things, for sure, but it will get you deference. That being said, if you are a douche bag, you can bring all the beer and still be classified a douche bag.
  11. That's actually how I would answer my own question.
  12. I'll join the chorus of praise for this video. One thing stuck me as I hear JFK's words throughout the clip... It has been a long time since we had a Commander in Chief that could instill such a feeling of patriotism and elicit such emotion just through a well written and orated speech. Not bashing here, just observing.
  13. Just wanted to confirm that the Dumbness is still alive! Passed thru the OTBH chow hall yesterday and within 1 min I was reminded to tuck my shirt in by a crusty E-8. Oh did I mention that 3/4 of my shit was already tucked in. The only thing that stopped me from going off was that fact that I was transient!! Boy, I can't wait to deploy in two months!!
  14. If you are looking for a place to drop into as a backup, I recommend Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. The American run base is self-sustaining and the weather is traditionally nice. Every Thursday they open up the officer's club to the local women and whew, what a blast that is! They put you up in a "hooch" which is quite comfortable. If you need more gouge, let me know.
  15. Great post... I have one question. If you are in one air frame, how do you get to a c21?
