  1. Kind of a similar situation for me: current ABM age 28 with >5 years commissioned service. Tests: P 96 /N 95/A 86/V 80/Q 84 PCSM: 66 with 6 hours, I’m up to 16 hours now, solo’d, 94 on 201+ column Undergrad GPA is 3.3 in math/physics MBA complete (UNC’s grad school doesn’t do GPA) FC1 complete I’ve rushed a few units so far, had a good time, had a few or more drinks, just want to see if my experience in ops will be seen as a good thing, or if the ETP for TFCSD will be too much of a hindrance. I’m casting a wide net, honestly just want to fly. I have preferences on MDS/location, but I’d be happy to join a good unit anywhere flying anything.
  2. Copy all, we had a guy in my unit just go through the surgery process and come out flying on the other side, so he's been giving me guidance. Regarding the 5 years of commissioned service ETP, should I get in contact with a desired squadron and see when boards are/if that sort of thing is easy? Don't want to put any carts before any horses.
  3. Hopefully there's no statute of limitations on thread revivals, just wanted to make sure this info is still current. Is there any more concrete guidance on the ANG/Reserve exception to this policy? Or is it just working with guard units on a case by case basis? Little background on me: Current ABM on the AWACS, 3 years commissioned service, looking to Palace Chase into a Guard UPT position. Need to fix my eyes, so I would expect the medical process would make the whole road to UPT take a bit more than 2 years. Would it be better to contact a desired guard unit earlier? Or after PRK surgery? I know, kind of a multi-faceted post, but the 5 year policy is my biggest concern at this time. Cheers
  4. http://www.tyndall.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123316759 Just wanted to see if this change in the chain of command for the 325th ACS (Soon to be 337th) will affect training. Also will anything be affected by being on an ACC base while in an AETC squadron? Finally, does anyone know if the options for assignments out of UABMT has changed from the usual 4 AWACS spots and Robins? Way off topic too but how are the Bay Front Apartments right across the bridge? Thinking of getting a 1 bedroom apt in that complex when I get down there in a couple weeks.
  5. Copy on the whole looking too far ahead without knowing if I can even make it through UABMT issue, I just didn't know how early one should start setting that up, but it looks like that shouldn't be a problem for at least a couple of years, so I'll focus on what's right in front of me. As for why I want to be one, I want to be an expert on effectively using air assets in combat, to know what weapons systems are needed for which missions, and then to help execute those missions as well as possible. I also want all the knowledge that weapons officers have, that's another big part of my reason. However it looks as though I have bigger things on my plate at this point, but thanks for putting things in perspective.
  6. Good Afternoon All, I would like to know some things you can do to set yourself up to go to weapons school. What are some good steps to take? What type of officer is sought after to become a Whiskey? How should you prepare for it? I'm an ABM headed down to Tyndall in September, so I'd also like to know what pilots want from ABMs at Nellis, and what we should look to pilots for during the class. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Hey All, I'm a recent ROTC grad, getting ready to head down to Tyndall in a few months. Just wondering if there was anything that would help me prepare for UABMT that I could get my hands on now. I know a lot of the stuff is FOUO or classified, but I would also like to know as much as possible about what ABM's actually do in theater, and what we do stateside. Finally, a little off topic, but I know opportunities for a tour as an ALO won't be going away, does anyone know about what that's like? Thanks for the great info so far, these last couple months are going to be pretty brutal.
