  1. Rescue used to be the Air Rescue and Recovery Service which was under MAC.
  2. Now if only we had an aircraft that could do that, but faster (relative term), and loiter longer, and be able to refuel the -60's.... oh wait...
  3. Stuff is slowly coming back to normal here. Picked up an AR-15 stripped lower for $95 at an LGS, they had a sale going on Palmetto lower parts kits $119 when bought with a stripped lower, so i grabbed that too. They also had windowed and non windowed PMAGs in stock and on sale, got 5 windowed ones for $19.99 each. So I walked out with all that for $337 after tax. For anyone at Moody or in the area this was at T3 outdoors on inner perimeter. P.S. Really looking forward to my boating trip this weekend!
  4. Looks good, 1 minor correction for 12-07... We did not have an MC-130H EWO, we did however have an MC-130J CSO. a few questions, what is the differentiation you made between the C-130H and C-130**? also what do *, **, and *** each mean?
  5. Bought my first home this month with a VA Loan from NBOKC... worked with Amy Paterson, she was a pleasure to work with and very helpful. Got me a nice 3.25% rate, very satisfied!
  6. As a very new rescue guy (finished HC-130P pipeline recently and am now at Moody) my impression so far is pretty much the same as what you have gathered from the guys you know. I noticed the attitude difference when I was at kirtland. I chose rescue for the mission, but have come to absolutely love the community as well.
  7. Come to Rescue, then you can keep flying in a 130, even with the J transition (goes for AFSOC too)
  8. Supposedly the first one is coming in later this year.
  9. This is on the aft side of the bulkhead separating the flight deck from cargo compartment of an HC-130P at KABQ. While not exactly nose art, still figured it fit the intent of the thread. Untitled by bronxbomber252, on Flickr
  10. This is pretty common, a Police department I did an internship with in college had the same technology. As they drive around the cameras run every plate through the system, if there is a problem with the tag, or the owner matched the description of a wanter person, etc, the laptop screen flashes red and shows the issue, along with the plate number and the owner's info. The cop would then decide if the flag was worth investigating and would proceed to look for a reason to pull the car over. It gets justified in court because it has long been the standard that license plates viewable in public can be run since there is no expectation of privacy about the plate number. Not supporting it per se, just giving information.
  11. What we really need is for one of these state laws to make it to the supreme court and be squashed.
  12. Really hope that doesn't pass, or coming back for an instructor tour in a few years would really blow!
  13. I have been tracking a lot of different states lately... at the rate we are going (strictly talking about states, not the federal government) in 20 years or so, we will have what is essentially two different countries in one. We will have the Blue states which will be extremely socialist, nanny-states. and the red states which will be even more towards the opposite end of the spectrum. As more and more people reach their breaking point and move to states that fit their ideals, this will become even more pronounced. Where this nation as a whole goes, depends GREATLY on which side the various purple states fall, as that will affect who has more control at a federal level. What the overall effect of this will be is anyones guess, but it is interesting to think about.
  14. Minor correction, the HC and MC guys go to Kirtland for the additional training (I am in the legacy HC program now). All HC's and the J and H model MC's do academics, sims and flying at Kirtland, the P model MC's just do academics and sim at Kirtland and then go to their units. AC's go to their assigned unit, everything else is correct.
  15. Wow, more King's to moody. Those used to be pretty few and far between, but seem to be getting more common. Any idea if those HC-130 guy were going to the J or P? Currently there are only P models at Moody, but supposedly they are getting their first J in the fall.
  16. Just got my pre-approval with Amy Paterson. Very helpful, took 20mins on the phone, no issues whatsoever, she was very pleasant! This will be my first house, I'm an O-2 with good credit but not a lot of credit, 3.25%! can't complain at all! Thank you all for turning me on to this bank!
  17. He's also exLAPD. LAPD managed to shoot up a couple innocent women trying to deliver newspapers somehow thinking it was this guy or something.
  18. The wife and I have Walther PPQ's in 9mm, we absolutely love them, incredible trigger, very accurate, extremely comfortable to shoot. They are roughly the size of a Glock 19, so on the smaller side. Only real down side is the cost of magazines. Some people don't like the HK style mag release (I actually prefer it) but the newer version that should be available late next month has a traditional button mag release. We rented it back to back with the M&P 9mm, Glock 17, and Berretta 92FS and the PPQ was the clear favorite (with the M&P 2nd, 92FS was my 3rd/wife's 4th, and the 17 was my 4th/her 3rd) It shot similar to the M&P but with a much better trigger and a more ergonomic grip (we shot it more accurately than the M&P too). I know concealed isn't a factor, but it is concealable. (any outfit that would conceal a Glock 19 would conceal this).
  19. Ctrl+F is your friend LOL
  20. The taurus Circuit Judge, and Rossi Circuit Judge are both specifically listed in the OK list.
  21. Full Feinstein bill text. Apparently a Mini-14 with a collapsable stock and pistol grip is evil enough to be specifically banned, and a Mini-14 with a standard stock is good enough to be specifically excluded... http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/publ...f-69e69f517fb4
  22. the 323 in 2011 was NOT with assault rifles but that is the total for ALL rifles (check the FBI's UCR). No data is given to identify which types of rifles were used in what percentage of that 323. So we do not know how many of the 323 were with AR-15's and such.
  23. no, see we aren't completely taking away your rights... since most accidents occur from speeding, we need to ban cars capable of more than 80MPH, since no where has a speed limit above 80!
  24. looks like the bastard child of a three-way between a Concorde, a B-1, and an MD-88
