  1. This attitude is just as bad as the "get it done or else" attitude. Maybe he wants to do the master's to further himself and his knowledge, not to check the box? I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but being an aviator is NOT that hard. I worked on a no-shit engineering master's while in Nav school, finished my PPL, and still managed to be #2 in my class. I know, I know, I'm not a pilot and being a pilot is soo much more demanding I just don't understand. No, you just don't know how to manage your time. BTW, I didn't do that master's to check the box, I did it because I wanted to. I'm not suggesting everyone do that, and if you have a family to take care of, even less so. But I'm tired of all people saying "don't do that because you need to focus on your job, and by god, NO ONE can do all of that at once and still be good at flying an airplane!".
  2. Pretty much everyone's mentioned what I would say. I jumped on Ford when it was about $1.20 and that's worked out well. I also made a play in Sirius when it was 8 cents...I already had a bit of money into from when it was $7-8, so figured I'd gamble and buy a couple hundred at super-penny prices, and that's also been a good gamble. Finally, silver is the way to go. My buddy tried to get me to buy into it about 12 years ago at $8/ounce but I had no money. Got in at about $12, and at one point it was up to $40. It's been pretty stable lately, but it's a pretty good long term investment. I just have the SLV ETF.
  3. Pensacola and Randolph also have them. In addition, ROBD's are popping up in a lot of places. No good for initial but works for refresher. I'm going to Hurlburt's in a couple weeks.
  4. I was just looking at this today. Everything on DFAS and everywhere else I could find said you DO need a non-A. I'm debating whether to press to test in a few weeks!
  5. Wow seems like we're not going to have any '05 11M's left?! Anyone hear of any '02 12M's getting approved or disapproved? I'm not looking to get out, so hoping for some disapprovals that take our group off the RIF!
  6. The reset isn't to try to fool anyone into thinking that you're in that year group. I'm sure there will be something else in your records that show you did this program. The reset is simply so that you compete against others who have the same amount of time in actual service instead of against your classmates who now have 3 years of USAF experience over you.
  7. Does anyone know if you're a last look candidate, eligible for credit, but not nominated by your SR, does your package (sts) go to the board at all? The psdm this year limited candidate nominations to 25%, where in the past it was just a suggested limit.
  8. Besides OEF, we've also had several exercises there. When I was at Yokota from 07-09, I spent at least a month or two there between exercises and OEF. So I don't really see a big change.
  9. When I called TMO they said it didn't matter how long it was, there was no time limit. At least that was the case for doing a second shipment. I didn't ask specifically about the travel part.
  10. Has anyone PCS'd without their wife, and then moved them several months later? TMO said I could do multiple shipments later on as long as I don't go over my weight allowance. Not sure about the travel voucher though (per diem, etc). Do I have to wait until she moves to file my voucher, or do two separate ones? I have no idea how long it will be. Any gotchas folks have seen?
  11. So what was excel sheet on AFPC called RIF Eligibility Matrix?
  12. He can't be a nav, or else the first comparison he would have come up with is the C-130. Hercules anyone?
  13. But if you're non-continued, you just get seperation pay (similar to RIF pay) right? The lawsuit from a couple years ago, I never heard they actually won that? So surely the AF doesn't really care about the black eye, as long as it gets the numbers down as cheaply as possible.
  14. I may be missing something, but for the twice passed over folks, why would they offer TERA instead of just non-continuing them? Wouldn't that allow the AF to just cut ties with a minimal payout?
  15. I think what he's saying is you either go in residence or not at all. As in far less folks will complete IDE/SDE.
  16. Yes. I'm a 12M core so one with a 75% overage listed. Got a RIP at the end of January. However, I do have a TPS grad RDTM, and they still haven't said which RDTM's will be eligible. My functional won't return my calls to answer the question. I was going to try to get my RNLTD pushed to after the results are released, but that obviously won't work now.
  17. AFMC owns it until DT is complete. A handful of AFSOC OT guys will be flying with us during that time.
  18. CSAF was at Eglin today and he said the intent is to pretty much do all the cuts at once. He doesn't want folks to keep thinking "I wonder if this'll be the year...".
  19. +1 for a list of RDTM eligibles. As 12M TPS grad (so we have a separate RDTM from ops guys) I'm either highly vulnerable or maybe not at all. I assume we're supposed to get notified individually at some point if we're eligible?
  20. If you get ESERB, you still get retirement, and 19.5 versus 20 isn't a massive difference. Obviously it adds up but it's not like being just shy of 18 and then RIFd.
  21. The best comments are the ones who were completely insulted by the possible responses to "why aren't you applying to be a pilot". I didn't notice it when I did the survey, but it was a bit insulting.
  22. How does he sound entitled? He asked if it was against the regs and/or how folks who have done it did it. He never said he should be able to do whatever he wants. It's people like you that provide no value to this forum, and probably the Air Force, if all you do is wander around saying no one should ask questions and you're better than everyone else because you've been around longer. No offense to you, just a common thing I see around here and I'm tired of it.
  23. Liquid, are you saying that the matrix posted on the afpc website is not necessarily the folks who will actually be eligible for the various programs?
