  1. Just thought I'd add my 1911s to this party... Just bought the S & W 1911PD yesterday. And did someone mention XDM?
  2. First generation pilot here. My grandfather was Army in the Battle of the Bulge. My dad was Army National Guard. No one in my family flies. I'm not sure how I picked it up other than my interest being sparked on an airline flight as a kid, but my family has supported me the entire way. I now fly F-16s.
  3. Noted. However, that's not helpful. Is there a reg/policy/guideline that two married people can not fly as part of the same squadron?
  4. Anyone have the reg reference for this? Thanks.

    Socom 4

I bought it, but then immediately took it back before opening it when I realized it was online multiplayer only. Whatever happened to SOCOM with single player campaigns?
  6. AFRC is only giving 360 (270 seasoning + 90 MQT)+Admin days.
  7. There's a lot more to flying a fighter than landing. Sure you can teach a new guy to land the thing in the sim (because that's not the mission), but you can't give a guy his upgrade in the sim and then go "here, go pull 9Gs and employ this thing, tell us how it goes."
  8. I'm a Reservist that just recently PCS'd to my squadron. My HHG is currently in storage for up to 90 days (early December). I am supposed to go on a deployment in January. I'm told the active duty doesn't do this, but I've heard that for a single guy, AFRC will pay for storage during a deployment. If this is the case, I'm considering postponing finding a rental property until after the deployment to save a little money. Has anyone ever done this or heard of this?
  9. The 61st has gotten a Carswell drop in its last two classes.
  10. HAHAHAHA... This wouldn't happen to be an IFF LSI guy that would always begin every sentence with "In the Eagle..." would it?
  11. Nah, the dude was trying to get down quickly and the needle turned red. Of course, this was the same IP that would fly around the pattern in MIL (250 or whatever was faster than the normal T-6 pattern speed). We landed, he told MX. I don't think they did much if anything. This was over two years ago.
  12. I have no doubt he knew what it meant, but I don't think he correlated the two, because he did in fact ask what the beeping was. And frankly, I don't give a fuck if you believe me or not. How would you have me prove it? He was trying to set up the HAPL by getting us out of the airspace quickly in MIL power in a steep descent.
  13. My IP oversped the T-6 on one of my contact rides doing a HAPL of all things. We got the red line and the beeping, he didn't really know what it meant so he asked and I said "Sir, I think we just oversped the jet..." We continued the sortie and after landing he told MX about it. They barely looked it over and cleared it for flight. Didn't seem like a big deal. There was another kid that Over-G'd when I was in UPT. He reset the G-meter after it happened, but then freaked out and decided he didn't want to look like he was covering it up since the G-meters in front/rear wouldn't match, so he set up again and over G'd a second time. I think he's flying jets for the Navy now.
  14. I do disagree somewhat, but my original comment was just a friendly jab at how the mighty Block 42 is keeping you guys on the timeline. As for Link/CCIP. That's great, but it's nice having the basic foundations set without dependence on that stuff. Having to actually look outside may suck at first, but I think it'll pay dividends later with overall SA (or when the link fails). It's like a lot of things we do that we may not get to use. Hell, the new syllabus gets rid of pops/conventional deliveries in the SAT phase and makes it exclusively GBU-12/38 work. It may be more realistic to what we do now, but I'm glad I got that basic foundation first.

    USAA

My house was burglarized on 5 May. I had just taken out the renter's policy a week prior when I called to get insurance for my bike. The policy paperwork hadn't even arrived in the mail when it happened(for me to see I didn't have the additional firearms coverage even though they didn't mention it over the phone). My roommate also had a claim (with USAA) and his adjuster has already paid his claim. Instead of using a bit of deductive reasoning and seeing that if it's a legit claim for him, it's also for me, they've sent it to investigation. The customer service is atrocious. My adjuster is completely out to lunch, and this "investigator" is dragging her feet and completely treating me like a criminal. I've been a USAA member since 01, but when this is all said and done, I intend to cancel my membership as well. Their adjusters are below average, and their customer service is horrible. I had a similar experience with my homeowner's insurance with them post-Hurricane Katrina. Slow response times, an unreachable adjuster, and poor service.
  16. Two in just over a month for me. Bama was a good friend and mentor from back in my New Orleans days. I hadn't talked to him in a month or so, but I tried to keep in touch with him. What a great dude. It's always the good guys with families that everyone likes that this happens to... I'm still in shock. I wish I could get away to go to the services. Dammit.
  17. He was a good classmate, friend, and sidekick. RIP JINXX "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived." -- George Patton
