  1. Who cares? I don't think anyone is going to be delayed into the FLUG/IPUG because some booger-eating FAIP wrote a pseudo-witty comment about the flare on a guy's pattern solo in T-6s.
  2. No barrel roll? That can't be considered a successful launch.
  3. I'm working an RPA on an enlisted ART job in my shop right now, and my squadron just posted/closed out 4 ART jobs to USAJobs. It may be slow, but there is no "freeze" per se. Then again, I guess I'm just used to dealing with laziness/slowness here locally so the higher level slow down goes unnoticed.
  4. The 2 for 1 thing doesn't apply to AFRC if that's what you're referring to. There is no hiring freeze in AFRC AFAIK.
  5. Absolutely. This aircraft is a Day 1 or 2 requirement. We needed maybe one or two squadrons of them for the first few days, then have the Block 69s, Eagles, and Hawgs (with new engines) do the rest of the work. Having one aircraft try to be all things to every mission results in an aircraft and pilots that can't really do anything well.
  6. This. It's definitely the dude with all of his joint credit done and PME completed. No one wants a guy flying on night one who doesn't know Tuckman's stages of group development. Delete this thread before someone gets hurt with such nonsense.
  7. Challenging energy considerations? What do you fly and what does the T-38 come anywhere close to bridging good habit patterns for? It sure as hell isn't the Viper. I'm sorry, but an AB level break turn trying to hold 415 knots is not a realistic (or good) BFM teaching tool. Nor is training to an AIM-9P. Honestly the only thing that had any carry over from that jet was BSA, and from I hear the B-courses are now shitcanning most of those rides in favor of more medium altitude TGP work. Are you going to throw a pod on there too now? Maybe add a CAS ride? G-level isn't really a consideration at all. Isn't that the whole point of the fuge? You can do everything IFF does with a much cheaper platform (or shitcan the whole program).
  8. The T-38C does nothing to prevent GLOC (the damned thing only pulls ~6Gs) and avionics fixation (even the T-38C is not a modern marvel or anything). This is why they were sending the first Raptor B-course dudes to Vipers first or a mini-spinup at Luke then to the Raptor B-course.
  9. Hey guys, not to thread hijack, but what time is volleyball practice?
  10. Hell yes. Sensor is about as close as I want to get anyway.
  11. Seriously? You mean the "asshat" that was strung out because of asshat #1 trying to drag him off on the scoreboard, overcooking it because he was late for the TOT?
  12. Low SA dude, it says "Female" on the left side of her post. Unless "she's" really just post-op.
  13. I just thought it was my computer. So the pics aren't loading for anyone else either? I've tried logging out and back in and restarting my computer, but I still can't see them.
  14. Found this thread in the search. I recently went through the process and was given a conditional offer of employment as a Special Agent with the FBI. The Agent in Charge said that it is doable, but she didn't have any advice or experience. So has anyone cracked this nut in the 7ish years since this was first posted? How did you maintain currency during the Academy? Or if you didn't, were you able to take Mil-leave for a tx course after arriving at your assignment? I know of a few guys who do the CBP/Reserve thing, but I have yet to talk to anyone that has done the FBI/Reserve. Are they that different? Thanks!
  15. Ok, so why can't that mentality start at the beginning of T-38s? The same dudes that instruct at IFF can teach the basic jet stuff while keeping the mentality. Or, if you don't want to start that early, you can teach all the flying stuff in UPT and let the B-course do the hard knocks of fighter pilot 101. It's not some cosmic reality that takes 6 weeks to learn.
  16. Ok, so what were the steady state winds and what was the forecast gust? I'll bet it wasn't a popup 37 knot gust with calm winds prevailing.
  17. So if the winds were out of limits, why did they even attempt a takeoff? Is this some kind of goofy airline thing where even if the winds are out of the limits of the jet (and captain, in this case), they try it anyway?
  18. Crosswinds are no-notice life and death curveballs?
  19. Well, I agree with at least some of what you're saying, but this is not the place to get into that argument. What about EA? What timeline are you training against with a T-38? It's a tail only fighter with no radar and a noisemaker for a "simulated AIM-9P." I'd rather train against Mike Tyson and actually face Simple Jack, than fight Simple Jack every day and get complacent in theater.
  20. A T-38 is not exactly a push it up adversary. Why not take Block 25s going to the boneyard and use them?
  21. A horrible initiative to turn the ARC into Active Duty so that there is no escape from Big Blue's ultimate gayness.
  22. The three for one good deal is done, thanks to Fresno. The times, they are a changing. Last I heard was at best a two for one, but it went down to a one for one. It may still be a one for one.
