  2. The World Famous Bayou Militia is tentatively planning an inexperienced hiring board on Sunday, 11 July 2021 at NAS JRB New Orleans, LA. Obviously COVID will play a part in this, so be prepared to flex. Applicants should have a current PCSM, resume, transcripts, and letters of recommendation ready to submit prior to any visit. Please direct all questions to 122fspilothiring@gmail.com. I won’t respond to DMs, inquiries, etc. on this platform. Nuke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Due to concerns about everybody’s health we’re cancelling any squadron visits this weekend. I apologize to those of you that have bought tickets and made plans, but we gotta play it safe here. Slam will speak up at some point regarding future visits, boards, etc. Nuke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. The 122d Fighter Squadron is planning to hold an Inexperienced hiring board on Sunday, 17 May 2020. Please contact Maj Stanley Cheng at 122fspilothiring@gmail.com if you're interested in visiting the World Famous Bayou Militia over March or April drill (14-15 March, 4-5 April). Cheers, Lt Col Sam Joplin Commander, 122d Fighter Squadron
  5. Today I get a letter from the VA saying I’ve fallen behind on my home mortgage, so naturally I investigate: NBKC apparently sold my loan to a company called Freedom Mortgage, and notified me with letter(not certified!), which I somehow missed due to being in another country all summer, early fall. I’ve gotten weekly, sometimes daily refinance offers from Freedom since I bought the house, so everything from them automatically goes in the circular file. Turns out that as of Oct they’ve been mortgage statements, and as an added bonus my auto-payment didn’t transfer, so I’m 5 months behind, hence the VA notice. Paid in full but so much for my stellar credit. Anybody been through this or have any advice? Recommend stay away from Freedom, btw; they’re notorious for VA Loan Churning. NBKC can pound sand too, seems like they’d make a bigger deal about the transfer than a single mailing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We have an ORM sheet under glass on the step desk. Flight leads tally it up and tell the 1CO’s, who write it on the flight auth (for record keeping) and tell the SOF. If it needs FS/DO or higher approval the SOF makes the phone call. It’s a simple a process as you can make it. No need to church it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I also got my ATP Single Engine & CFI Single Engine with Gordo - he goes 100% by the book, so if it's in the PTS, it's in the checkride. That being said, he is a retired Phantom Phlyer so he speaks our language and tailors his act accordingly. Well worth the trip to Jasper - great instruction, great equipment and a fairly adminstered checkride.

  9. Was there ever any question that Gates had a chip on his shoulder WRT the AF? Hiring Skeletor (Schwartz) was tantamount to "cutting off your nose to spite your face." Great leadership, dick.
  10. Glad to hear that you guys are all safe.
  11. When I was wrapping up my MC-12 tour, some of the EFIS-equipped MC-12s from Balad were being transferred to the Army, so unless you have intimate knowledge of this mishap, I wouldn't rule out the possibility. Army flies with mixed crews as well.
  12. My two cents: 1) Don't igore it. I understand you may be walking a fine line between semi and permanent DNIF here, but consider this: until you get a qualified doc to look at it (and perhaps an MRI), you have no way of knowing exactly what is going on in there. My MRI was pretty eye-opening. It's not going to get better, but I can manage it. 2) Consider all your treatment options. Something to consider as an alternative to Chiro: I have the standard BFM neck, and it got to a point where I couldn't function. I rolled the bones with my flight doc, whom I trusted. After a few months of PT didn't really help, it was suggested I try "dry-needling," which is a clinical version of accupuncture. Turns out there was a PT Doc on base who was qualified. 3 sessions later and Voila! Worked like a charm. Worth looking into. 3) Document, document, document. If you are going the covert route, realize that when and if you want to collect VA Disibility, you're probably going to need some documentation. My med records show a "history of non-debilitating neck pain as a result of flying." Again, trusted Flight Docs. Nuke
  13. Before you rush to judgement, it's important to point out that he was once a "freelance classical music and opera critic for the Washington Post."
  14. Thanks, NOLA. I'll take any and all advice on the transition. I'll put TAMP on my radar for sure. What else do I need to be looking for?
  15. Palace Chase approved. 11F with ANG job, asking for 6 mos. off of ADSC (from ACP no less). SQ/CC, WG/CC and Porch all concurred. A boldface applies...the boldface is: EJECTION HANDLE - PULL
  16. The wing stress issue is not the result of aerobatics, it's from flying the airplane at or very near gross weight in lousy weather twice a day for years on end. Add in some clumsy inexperienced types pranging in a few landings and flying too fast for conditions and voila...overstressed wings. We need to let the barrel roll incident go - it was debriefed to standards two years ago.
  17. Clarity Aloft, or as a cheaper alternative, Halo. Both are in-the-ear style and allow you to wear sunglasses & ballcaps without any interference. Not equpped with a single mil plug, but you can buy an adapter on the cheap. Absolutely love 'em.
  18. The shirt here at base X is already threating to "ruin our day" if we don't comply with the 36-2903 "hitler stache" guidelines (aka "ted stache"). Challenge accepted. Team OG, The month that so many of you have waited for all year is upon us. That time of year when no one can ridicule you (except your wives) for your show of masculinity in honoring the mustache (and supporting the charitable reasons for the month). While we are destined to see many “epic fails” growing on the lips of men in the group this month, what we should NOT see are mustaches that do not conform to military standards. Per AFI 36-2903, 3.1.2.2: Mustaches “will be conservative and will not extend downward beyond the lip line of the upper lip or extend sideways beyond a vertical line drawn upward from both corners of the mouth”. The figure below (in HTML) diagrams the limits of your facial hair attempts. Please help police your own wingmen so the Commanders and I do not have to ruin your fun. XXXXXX, MSgt, USAF First Sergeant Xth Operations Group
  19. Your comment exposes your limited knowledge of history.
  20. Go see Teddy Roberts at Roberts Auto Service, just out the back gate. Great dude who bends over backwards for military.
