I have track select coming up and I heard that B-1's are mainly taking FAIPs right now, any type of FAIP to be exact. Can any one clarify on that?

FWIW you live and die by the gouge. I glanced through the stuff that was on baseops but mainly studied the real deal at IFS. Sure it's great to have but like previously posted it's probably going to be old. Best advice IMO after you get done with the academic classes (mine ended on the Friday after I got there), read it all over that first weekend. Yeah it sucks to waste a weekend to read it, but it is one out of many and your focus should be to get through the program not to go skiing etc (not saying that you shouldn't have fun, but study first). Know the bold face and ops limit cold. If you are able to get some time in before going to IFS do it, but don't worry if you can't. This program is designed for people with no time and you will be fine. Lastly, help out your flight mates when they need help and don't be afraid to ask for help either. I just finished up here, and it is a well designed program. If you have any questions PM me and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability. Remember though that this program also shows you your own learning habits and what not, so whatever worked for me might not work for you. PS - Go to the tower and give the controllers a class/flight patch. They listen to you screw up comm all day ever day, and they will appreciate it. Apparently I was the first one to give them one.

Just got back from Oshkosh. Here is my picture contribution... From what I saw they did 2 go arounds and both F16s looked funky doing them STS. They just looked off. Guess we will find out what happened soon. Glad the pilot was able to get out safely and no one else was hurt! If you are unfamiliar with Oshkosh, it is pretty much controlled chaos about all the time. To my knowledge a couple of people lost their lives a couple of days ago there at the seaplane base from a crash trying to land out there or something. RIP to them.

Hey all, I'm heading out to Columbus Oct 1 with future wife in tow and I was just curious on what all has been changed or updated, either on base or the town. I know that they have updated the housing which is great, but is it worth it to live there? The wife and I are saying yes to live on base for a couple of reasons: so that she can get adjusted to the whole military thing, and for me going for UPT. I keep getting mixed signals from people saying that living off base is the better route so I guess I am just looking for some advice on this to help back our decision. Also, any advice on spouse jobs would be great. She has a bachelors in Spanish with a teaching certificate, basically looking to teach but is open for other opportunities. Thanks!

Thread revival... So I'm a soon to be commissioning/graduating cadet from ROTC (in May), and its time for my class to do a prank on the rest of the corps. Unfortunately the rest of my class really isn't too creative, and my ideas really aren't the best either, so I was wondering if anyone out there had any good pranks that they did back in the day that could be done at a detachment with limited cost. I'll take pictures and/or video to show the results. Any ideas will be appreciated! Thanks!

Sorry to bring back an old topic but I am thinking about applying for the program. I'm graduating in May 2011 with a CSO slot. I've read the memos from Col McCain and was curious to see what you all think. I have a buddy who PCS to PCola back in Nov of 2010 and was on casual for quite some time. I was thinking that this would be a good thing to get into just because of the wait time to PCS and then the casual time. Any advice will be appreciated!
